Using the 8 button keypad to monitor the garage door open status?
Our garage doors are one piece and swing up. The original floor was dirt. The most practical place was on the side near the bottom. The point being that there is no one location that must be chosen. Lee, we have the same situation, so a installed a camera and monitor for safety's sake as well as convenience.

Using the 8 button keypad to monitor the garage door open status?
Talk about uneven, we had dirt garage floors when we started using the more the costly magnetic contact switch. It will accommodate a nearly 3" gap. What are you using now? The gap for magnetic switch that ships with the garage kit needs to be much closer.

Isy error light keeps flashing
Remove power from the ISY. Unplug and replug the PLM. Wait a minute. Power up the ISY. What's the result?

Isy error light keeps flashing
Why are you attempting a restore? Did you replace the PLM?

Using the 8 button keypad to monitor the garage door open status?
Writing a program to overcome an easily correctable hardware problem seems to be overkill and a band-aid. Change the magnetic switch. This one is top-of-the-line: http://www.smarthome.com/seco-larm-sm-226l-3-magnetic-garage-door-contact-switch.html This on is bottom dollar: http://www.smarthome.com/seco-larm-sm-200q-wh-surface-mount-magnetic-contact-switch-normally-closed.html

Replace the magnetic contact switch. In the interim, create a scene where the button is a controller and the relay is a responder. Create another scene that contains only the button. Write a program that turns the button scene On if the sensor is open, otherwise (else) turns the button scene off.

That's correct. I forgot about that glitch

Using the 8 button keypad to monitor the garage door open status?
A program is not needed, only a scene. The button and the sensor are controllers and the relay is a responder. Trigger reverse should fix the LED problem. Or either a 3-wire or NC magnetic contact switch.

Using the 8 button keypad to monitor the garage door open status?
Nope, momentary B. The Keypad button is set to non-toggle On. In the event that the button is out of sync with the garage door, pressing the button once will still open the garage door and re-sync the state of the button. BTW, I have a red diffuser behind the button.

Roomba How-To
I have Roombas ans Scoobas. Gutter cleaners. too. And also a network module. How can I control these iRobot devices with an ISY? Specifically, what do I select in the Resource Editor?

Using the 8 button keypad to monitor the garage door open status?
Keypad button set to On-only I/O Linc set to Momentary B, relay responds to sensor is checked Scene has Keypad button as a controller, relay as a responder Result: Button controls the garage door Button is lit when the garage door is open

Considering disabling ISY due to ALL ON bug. Process to remove it??
Hi Blackbird. The All-On phenomenon is an unexpected incident when all or nearly all devices turn on unexpectedly. At this point, the actual trigger is not precisely known, although there are some theories that are somewhat consistent in that a wireless device is involved. But, some have reported the aberrance in the absence of such devices.

Considering disabling ISY due to ALL ON bug. Process to remove it??
I like being able to open the garage door by pressing a (KPL) button on the way out. I like that the same button indicates the state of the garage door. Also, my insurance company is legally obligated to pay for loss even if I leave my door wide open, the same as they are in the event of an auto accident. Our door locks are not Insteon and thus are not affected by the "All On" phenomenon. And, other than your opinion, which I agree can be an asset, what evidence do you have that, "Most people think all the HA is just an expensive OCD joke anyway and save their money for cruises and other toys." Most of the people I mention home automation to don't even know what it is.

Why? There is no Smarthome product that causes an All-on. I added an after-market supercharger to my car. Should the car manufacturer have responsibility if the supercharger damages the engine?

question about installing the garage kit
The I/O Linc contacts do not have a polarity. What you connect the COM and N/O contacts to depends on your garage door operator. What is your specific garage door operator and what is the model of the wall switch?

Whats the difference between these keypads?
And the relay click, the dimmer doesn't.

Using the Wait command.
If the sensor switch is turned On, however briefly, then the program will wait 20 seconds and increment the counter. A solution is to wait 20 seconds, then run a second program that tests for the status of the sensor and increments the variable counter.

Controlling connected bulbs
You can determine if the bulb has power by using "is Responding."

Null Sensor Status Causes Program Error
Writing a program to "Enable Run at Startup" that will "Write Device Updates" for each battery powered device may do what you want.

The links are retained when power is removed. Whether the bulb remains on has changed and can change again. No reason is given, no announcement is made.

Electric Radiant Floor Heating Thermostat
Yes. The relay allows you to connect any smart or dumb thermostat that works with any standard HVAC system. The relay requires line, neutral and load wires.

Electric Radiant Floor Heating Thermostat
The relay I linked to is for 240VAC. Here's a 120VAC relay: http://www.supplyhouse.com/Honeywell-Aube-RC840T-120-120v-Relay-w-Built-In-24V-Transformer

Electric Radiant Floor Heating Thermostat
There are internet, Insteon and Z-Wave solutions. An internet solution is self-contained, only the thermostat is needed. But, it you want control via the ISY then you'll need an Insteon or Z-Wave thermostat and an Aube 840T to interface between the thermostat and your heating system.

Is there an insteon outdoor motion sensor?
I've had success with Leviton sensors and Micro Modules
