Your meters high input impedance may not be enough to load down the small leakage current through the triac inside the Switchlinc with the capped red load wire. It could be a misleading reading. If it had a higher load on it. It probably would go on and off as you expected.

Magnet and Switch are at the edge of activating and sometimes the switch does not close. Switch itself maybe going intermittent.

The 2413S PLM is a Dual Band Device. Has a faster memory and processor. Depending on the age of your 2412S. Your new home may have signal issues. Have you verified you have at least one Dual Band Device on each phase of the house and that the communications tests in those Dual Band Devices have passed the test? Also the Triggerliinc is an RF device so they also have to be with in receiving range of a Dual Band Device for processing.

No you are not missing something. As far as I have seen you can not link anything directly to the All On and All Off buttons. I have used a manual linking on my original hardware RemoteLinc to a Insteon Device and it took. Later Remotelinc firmware may have corrected this from happening. That said the ISY controller does not know about this link and will gladly overwrite it if you add something new through My Lighting.

1.& 2. Unknown as we don't have enough information on what the sensors are and what they send on the AC power Lines. I doubt the smoke detectors use anything close to an Insteon protocol in their communications. The I/OLInc is triggered by a dry closure from its Sensor Input to Common. The small voltage you may have seen mentioned. Is the sensing current used to determine if the sensor is On or Off. If you can get a dry closure from the smoke detectors. You can trigger an I/OLinc. I have seen some smoke detector manufacturers make an optional adapter that connects to the wiring to interface with an alarm system. If you know the brand and model. We maybe able to find something. Side note. In the latest beta software there is a Insteon Smoke Sensor {10.0A} listed in the drop down list of modules.

Glad you got it working. I agree the support from UDI should be a model for other companies to follow.

The X10 Chime Module only sounds when power is first applied. It will not chime with power going off. So an ApplianceLinc applying power will have it sound but going back off it will not. My X10 Chime Modules sound when power is restored after my power has been off. One thing to remember. ApplianceLincs after revision hardware 4.15 default to off after a power loss. Even if they where on at the time the power was lost. Probably not an issue in this case but something to keep in mind. I have seen others uses report. The small piezo sounder and an I/OLinc also worked well for them. UPDATE: My brand NEW 2456S3 Hardware Revision 4.9 again returns to its known On or Off state after a power loss and restoration.

ELA made a good point. I found the data sheet on the relay. It has a minimum recommended load of 24 volts DC, 30 mA; 5 volts DC, 100 mA.

If it is 24 volts AC. The relays in the EBay link would work and they have the socket with connection screws.

Many electronic supply houses have 24 volt AC relays. I will search for some. Something easy to connect? As many may have solder terminals. I would also ask you to look at the bell transformer, probably in the cellar. Mine is not 24 volts AC. It is 18 volts AC.

If the X10 device was added with the A10/X10 add on module and you then transfered to an ISY controller with out the A10/X10 module. It is possible it was thought to be an Insteon address. I believe when the add on module put X10 devices in the My Lighting tree. It gets a pseudo Insteon Address.

GordonGale; Do you have any anitvirus or firewall programs running? If you do can you tell us what they are including their version? Saw your update on the cable disconnected. So my question on software may not be a factor. Though some programs do cause issues with the ISY Administrative Console.

I don't see any error. My ISY994i Series Quick Setup Guide. Paragraph 1 ISY Installation 2. "Connect the second included Cat5e cable to ISY's Port A and the other end to the PLM. NOTE: If your PLM is model number 2413S, you do need a power supply (not included)"

Pinout is the same for the signals being used. Except pin 2 raw 12 volts on the 2414S and 2412S but not the 2413S. In fact some of my original 2412S PLMs have a 2414S Serial Daughter Card in them. RTC, Backup Battery and real big mostly not used memory also. As Lee pointed out. Completely different command set protocol and serial specifications. The 2414S did provide you power but the communications was still not there. So you got safe mode.
