fox7 Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 Whenever I try to use an iPhone HomeScreen Shortcut to access the default web interface of my ISY994i (v4.0.5), under iOS 7.x, the shortcut hangs. I didn't have any problems under iOS 6.x. For example, on my iPhone 5, using iOS 7.0.2: - use Safari to access my ISY994i by going to http://10.0.2.202 - Safari will resolve to http://10.0.2.202/WEB/INDEX.HTM'>http://10.0.2.202/WEB/INDEX.HTM'>http://10.0.2.202/WEB/INDEX.HTM - tap the middle button at the bottom of the Safari screen to "Add To Home Screen" - a Home Screen Shortcut will be created to access http://10.0.2.202/WEB/INDEX.HTM If I tap on that newly created Home Screen Shortcut, the Universal Devices logo appears, but the page gets hung up on "Load Config" and doesn't display anything else. (screenshot attached) If I use Safari on my iPhone and manually enter http://10.0.2.202/WEB/INDEX.HTM it works fine. Any suggestions for getting Home Screen Shortcuts to my ISY994i working under iOS 7.x? Thanks for any help. Patrick
Michel Kohanim Posted September 29, 2013 Posted September 29, 2013 Hi Patrick, This is quite strange. Can you create a shortcut to http://10.0.2.202 without the /WEB/INDEX.HTM? With kind regards, Michel
fox7 Posted September 30, 2013 Author Posted September 30, 2013 Hi Michel: Unfortunately the button to 'Add to Home Screen' doesn't present itself until after the web page has been loaded in Safari. (i.e. until after the URL is resolved as http://10.0.2.202/'>http://10.0.2.202/WEB/INDEX.HTM'>http://10.0.2.202/WEB/INDEX.HTM'>http://10.0.2.202/WEB/INDEX.HTM'>http://10.0.2.202/WEB/INDEX.HTM) Also, there is no way to edit the URL used by a Home Screen shortcut. Creating a Safari bookmark, on my iPhone of either http://10.0.2.202/ -or- http://10.0.2.202/WEB/INDEX.HTM works fine. On an iPad, running iOS 7.0.2, the results are slightly different: - a Home Screen shortcut accessing http://10.0.2.202/WEB/INDEX.HTM still doesn't work (same as iPhone) - using a a Safari bookmark, of either http://10.0.2.202/ -or- http://10.0.2.202/WEB/INDEX.HTM results in an "Authentication Required" dialog. Entering acct/pswd of admin/admin allows access to the web page. Subsequent use of either bookmark does not require authentication, just direct access to the web page. Patrick
Michel Kohanim Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 Hi Patrick, Thank you. Can you do me a favor? Please: 1. Go to Tools | Clear Error Log 2. Go to Tools | Diagnostics | Event Viewer, change the level to 3 3. Try those bookmarks on your Safari (on iPad and then iPhone) on the homescreen 4. Go to Tools | Error Log ... copy/paste the contents back here With kind regards, Michel

Michel Kohanim Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Hi Patrick, Here's the issue ... it seems that your device is requesting for things that cannot possibly be in ISY: GET-->/apple-touch-icon-152x152-pr ISY file names are 8.3 and thus what is being requested is definitely something that your device is adding on its own. It's quite interesting and, at the same time, I am not sure how we can fix it. With kind regards, Michel
jlokanis Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 I have an isy99i running 3.3.10 and I have the exact same problem. While I understand that this may be caused by a change that Apple implemented in iOS7, that does not mean that a workaround on UD's part is impossible. Also, since this affects all users of your product that run iOS devices (which I suspect is a large group of users), I suggest it would be a good idea to see if you can find a solution. We would all greatly appreciate it. thanks, -John
Michel Kohanim Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 Hi John, I am not sure what you are suggesting. ISY, just like any web server, is responding as it should for a request to a resource that DOES NOT EXIST. Are you suggesting that we should go find all the apple-specific URLs out there in the world, trap them in ISY, and randomly return images that we like? I must say that from our inception Apple has been nothing but a nightmare for us. From MAC to iPhone/iPad, Airport, Airport Extreme, etc. A good portion of our tech support calls is to address Apple issues. This has led us to believe that Apple does have territorial mentality and pretty much forces everyone to use their native features: a) see above as an example and for the longest time, Apple had its own Java implementation which were never up-to-date with the latest versions. Mind you, ISY's html interface is HTML and Javascript (AJAX) which 99% of other browsers and mobile devices support. But, of course, Apple has to inject its own images and we have to change the firmware to "ignore" apple! Quite frustrating to say the least. With kind regards, Michel

iOS 6 it's asking for random stuff also, and the ISY handles it just fine. Not sure what the problem is. Partick, when you click on the icon on the homescreen, does it ask for your username/password? It does for me, everytime, seems to be a bit of a bother. I don't normally use this method, I use a dedicated App for communication with my ISY. Just figured adding more information never hurts. Knight.
fox7 Posted October 23, 2013 Author Posted October 23, 2013 Hi Michel and Knight: I've since upgraded to iOS 7.0.3 on my iPhone and iPad. Now, when I click on a Home Screen shortcut (of http://10.0.2.202/WEB/INDEX.HTM) on my iPhone, I'm prompted for my ISY Login and Password. After entering the Login and Password, it works as expected. (no longer hangs on Load Config) I was hoping to be able to provide a copy of my Error Log for you, but after upgrading my MacBook Air to Mac OS 10.9, I'm not able to save error logs anymore (or any ISY logs, for that matter). Patrick

Xathros Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 fox7- I am on OS 10.9 on my 13" MBAir and have no problem (or no more problems than in 10.8 ) saving ISY logs. What problems are you seeing? What version of Java are you running? I'm at: (build 1.7.0_45-b18) What level is your Java security set to? I'm at: High (minimum recommended) -Xathros
fox7 Posted October 23, 2013 Author Posted October 23, 2013 Hi Knight: Using iOS 7.0 or 7.0.2 and clicking on a Home Screen shortcut, both resulted in the Load Config message (was never prompted for username/password). iOS 7.0.3 will prompt for username/password without the Load Config message. Hi Xathros: Using Mac OS 10.9, I did the following: - accessed my ISY Admin page with User ID and password - from the Tools menu, select Error Log -> am presented with a Save Log To... dialog -> the default filename is 'ISY Error Log.v4.05__Wed 2013.10.23 10.19.41 AM.txt' -> the default path presented is inside 'PluginProcess.app' - I change the path to my Desktop - click on the Save button The 'ISY Error Log...txt' file is not saved to my Desktop (or anywhere else, that I can see). I'm running Java 7 Update 45 (build 1.7.0_45) My Java Security is set to Medium. Patrick

fox7 Posted October 23, 2013 Author Posted October 23, 2013 Hi Xathros: As was suggested in the other topic, I can confirm that using FireFox v24.0 (instead of Safari v7.0) does allow one to save log files without any problems, under Mac OS 10.9. Patrick

Patrick Are you able to do more than one save per console session? -Xathros
fox7 Posted October 26, 2013 Author Posted October 26, 2013 Hi Xathros: Yes, using FireFox v24.0 under Mac OS 10.9, I'm able to save more than once, without any problems. For example, filenames from 3 saves just now: ISY Error Log.v4.0.5__Fri 2013.10.25 11.23.46 PM.txt ISY Error Log.v4.0.5__Fri 2013.10.25 11.23.59 PM.txt ISY Error Log.v4.0.5__Fri 2013.10.25 11.24.17 PM.txt Patrick
fox7 Posted November 3, 2013 Author Posted November 3, 2013 Just a quick note to follow up on the 'Safari 7.0 not being able to save logs' issue discussed above. burke has posted this solution in another topic/thread: http://forum.universal-devices.com/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=12505&sid=bf3c11dd359c09813e2b3319a2d5c194&p=98059#p98030
