jahn Posted March 2, 2021 Posted March 2, 2021 Just picked up a few single remote linc switches (2342-242). When I try to add it in the system, I get an un-supported device. Any idea what's going on?
MrBill Posted March 2, 2021 Posted March 2, 2021 I have a handful of those, they do add. I suspect @lilyoyo nailed your issue. You do have the switch on as well? blinking green LED when you try to link?
jahn Posted March 2, 2021 Author Posted March 2, 2021 yes, it does blink green. I hold the set button for like 3sec, green starts to blink. The linking comes back very quickly, looks like it talks to the device, then I get unsupported device.

Fortunately the mini-remotes are all near the top of the list.

lilyoyo1 Posted March 2, 2021 Posted March 2, 2021 Make sure your firmware and UI match. Factory reset the remote and try and again
jahn Posted March 3, 2021 Author Posted March 3, 2021 same thing after factory reset. Updated firmware / UI to latest beta. 5.3.2, same thing happens. Used to be 5.3.0.

If I'm reading your Event Viewer Log correctly, when the ISY sends out a Device ID command, the device returns a Category of FF, a SubCategory of FF and a version of 39. The documentation I've scratched together over the years seems to indicate the Cat and SubCat of FF means that software will assign the category and subcategory to the device. Your best course of action is probably to open a ticket with UD. If the device category and subcategory truly aren't recognized by the ISY, it could mean that Smarthome has made a change that UD is unaware of. 2
jahn Posted March 3, 2021 Author Posted March 3, 2021 That would make sense to me. Maybe a silly question, but where do I open a ticket with UD? Thanks.

Michel Kohanim Posted March 3, 2021 Posted March 3, 2021 @kclenden, 100% correct. Thank you. ISY is looking for: 0x00 0x1C :: 2342-242 Insteon Mini Remote - Switch (915 MHz) With kind regards, Michel
jahn Posted March 3, 2021 Author Posted March 3, 2021 opened a ticket with UD. They came back saying the device is broken/mis configured and they are probably right. The device should report back a category 00 and subCat 1C. I bought a 2nd switch in the same order and that one works. Thanks for all the help: 1
Brian H Posted March 3, 2021 Posted March 3, 2021 Good to see you found the problem. Too bad it was a Smarthome Insteon Module's QC failure.
