Pacman
I see support for Ring is mentioned in the UD Polisy narratives. As my Insteon HD cameras are presumably all defunct, I might consider branching into the Ring camera arena. What support exists for Ring? I took a look at the Node Store from the Polisy UI and didn't see anything. I apologize in advance if my questions are stupid. I'm trying to adapt to the new post-Insteon environment and the best I can do is apply legacy knowledge of Insteon pre-Hub with a PLM and HouseLinc. I imagine I'm doing a little "square peg, round hole" reasoning. And yes, I had a USB to Insteon powerline PLM for HouseLinc that I tossed thinking I'd never need one again. Fortunately I had a USB dongle as well that now happily lives in my Polisy. Link to comment
kzboray
Ring is supported via the currently off line cloud polyglot server. It was taken off line due to security concerns. The Ring Node server did not have support for cameras, but that might have changed over time. For camera support you might take a look at the BlueIris Node server. Link to comment

With kind regards, MichelMichel,I had no idea they were not cooperating. How did the cloud version exist? I used the PGC version and in fact it was a big part of the reason I chose Ring devices since they were integrated within UDI environment. How can I help? I’m amazed that’s even a question they ask you as it will sell more product like it did me. It Should be more about can you make it secure etc. 1 Link to comment

There are many other paths I could have taken besides Ring, but I got exactly the functionality I needed along with easy integration. I've recently helped other users migrate from the Insteon Hub to a Polisy, and would like to recommend Ring to them as the grow their installations, but only if it integrates with the UDI environment. @Michel Kohanim, any way we could help with this? I purchased now a total of 6 ring cameras and 2 doorbells because of the integration with ISY via the PGC NS. Have been trying to get Alexa to work as an integrator per this post: But havent gotten Alexa to recognize the motion yet for some reason. Link to comment
dbwarner5
Update. After doing some searches, did these two steps below and now rings are reporting motion* to Alexa which is triggering my Alexa routines to set "lights" (isy variable) to certain percentages which is now triggering isy programs! Excellent work around, albeit dealing with Alexa routines. Two steps: -changed ring Email to match Alexa email (took 4-6 hours for Rings system to catch up) -Disabled the Ring Alexa Skill and reenabled (after above email was registered and I could sign in again) side note: Have often also found a delay in Alexa variables triggering isy upon initial set up. Sometimes takes 12-24 hours before they work for the first time, so if heading down this path, be patient. *While the motion is reported to Alexa from Ring to trigger routines as described above, if you go to the Alexa app / Devices / Cameras and click on a camera and then View Camera Events, it always comes up empty: "Nothing yet". So even though Alexa isn't collecting the actual video, which is available in the Ring app, this doesn't seem to be affecting the routine from triggering Link to comment
Geddy
@dbwarner5 glad it works for you...hopefully the process remains timely. I wonder if could be risky of the delay that IFTTT connection used to be with Ring and ISY. I used to trigger a light if the doorbell rang. Often times it could be hours and a light would blink. The reliance on the web and so many possible time sensitive steps could induce similar delays...as you said...took 12-24 hrs before they started working. Just don't be surprised when a light goes on in the middle of the night because of motion 8-10 hours earlier! I'm adding a few Ring devices soon and was hoping to be able to trigger additional lights on motion alerts. Will be interesting to see how well it works in the long run. Link to comment
dwengrovitz
Thanks for the info @dbwarner5. I tried messing around for a few hours last weekend with having my Ring Doorbell set an ISY variable via an Alexa routine and it just wasn't working as expected. Everything looked right in the setup, and it ran when I manually triggered the routine via the Alexa app, but it just wouldn't set the variable automatically when motion was actually detected. It wasn't until I disabled and re-enabled the Alexa skill that things starting working automatically, so thanks for mentioning that. Link to comment
Michel Kohanim
Sincere apologies to all. We tried very hard to get Ring to officially provide us with the APIs. But, they want a business plan etc. to approve us. We are working on it. With kind regards, Michel 3 2 Link to comment
