Lights Randomly Turning On Every Night

Hi guys,

I have a bizarre issue. The guest in my home was reporting that some lights keep turning on every night around 9pm. I finally checked the logs and surely enough there are 4-6 lights that seem to be turning on ever night:

My setup is like this: ISY994 --> HomeAssistant (Via official ISY plugin) -> HomeKit (via HomeAssistant Plugin)

I don't have ANY automations set on either my ISY994, in my HomeAssistant, or in my HomeKit that would turn on this random collection of lights. This also started happening recently (I'm still going down the log to find out exactly when).

Is there any way I can figure out WHO is issuing these commands? Is it the ISY directly? Is it my HA, or HomeKit? It just says "system" in the ISY log. Any help would be greatly appreciated. It's driving me absolutely nuts!

You can open ISY Tools/Diagnostics/Event Viewer and set it to level 3.  This will show all communications that ISY sees on the network.  You have to have it open, though, it will not show you what happened before you opened it.  So I would turn it on this evening around 9pm and see what you get.

Oh interesting!! Will it also tell me where a command is coming from? Like if it's coming from HomeAssistant via an API or directly from within the ISY?

Not where it's coming from..at least not outside the ISY. If you see traffic in it then it is traffic within the ISY, but it won't tell you if it's being triggered by something outside the ISY (at least I don't think so...)

I just tested by turning a light on/off via HomeAssistant and directly in the admin console. They are identical events thrown. So, there's no way to tell where it came from, but that something was sending traffic to/through the ISY.

And you're 100% certain you don't have any programs in the ISY that could trigger such light status? Check the summary tab of the program area and see if any programs have run recently (or around the 9:00 time.). You can SORT the last run time by clicking on the column header.

Only other thought would be to disconnect devices just before 9pm and see if it does it. Might take a couple of days if you disconnect one-by-one to figure out what's doing it.

Hi @GeddyI FIGURED IT OUT! Years ago I had set up a vacation mode light program:

It appears the guest switched on that button and I didn't remember I ever set this up...

WOW! Thank you so much for your help!

Hahahaha 100%! I have to say I can't fault them. I didn't even remember I had this set up. This has been driving me NUTS for about 5 days now. Been searching high and low for the solution hahaha. Thankfully @Geddynudged me to check the summary tab...

Glad it worked out! That summary page does come in handy from time to time.

Time to disable the program or tape a sign "do not use" to the button! :)

Not the tape over switch design. ?. Hopefully he takes the disable approach. ?

But that's fool proof....right?

@Athlon I've always wanted to use some of that stuff.

Ha! Who hasn't! I used some of the liquid stuff on a fish pond that cracked, and it worked!
