>>>Attention Polisy Users,

Unless explicitly requested by Universal Devices, the SSH method of updating the Polisy should be avoided. Due to recent updates to the underlying operating system, unexpected consequences are being experienced when users force a full package upgrade and update using SSH. <<<

Unfortunately, the above advisory came a bit late and I did do an update using SSH.

Thereafter, when I check for updates, Polisy quit displaying the green bar that tells whether or nor any updates exist.

How do I recover?

>>

Second small question...After updating, literature says 4 beeps = Success.  My unit always gives 5 beeps.  Meaning?

Thanks,  Snibley

Out of curiosity, where did you see the green bar?  I've never had one, even when I've had pending updates. When I click on updates the admin console shuts down and then the Polisy updates.

I click...

System -> Check for Polisy Updates

A "durable" (longer lasting) green bar then appears at top of screen....

"Sent upgrade check command to Polisy.  This could take a few minutes.  A notice will display when it is complete."

...

Then after a few seconds, a second green bar would momentarily appear below the "durable" bar which would indicate either the number of available updates, or state that there were no updates.  This is the green bar that no longer appears.

The first and more "durable" green bar then also disappears.

Thing is, if *that* function disappeared, I have to wonder what else in the Polisy has also been affected?

But, Michel told me to get a ticket; I still need to do that...

@Snibley

The only update option in the admin console I have under system is "Upgrade Packages". Is that what you're referring to?

Exactly where does the green bar appear?

Okay...something is weird and it's probably at my end...

In the Polisy page and when System is selected at top of screen, this is EVERYTHING I see in the drop-down menu, top to bottom:

Restart Polyglot

Reboot ISY

Check for Polisy Updates

Update Polisy

Reboot Polisy

Shutdown Polisy

###

That's it...I have no "Upgrade Packages" option under that menu.

Sorry, forgot about your "Green Bar" question...

Second green bar appears just below the main one.  It appears a few moments after I select the "Check for Polisy Updates" option under the System parent.  It either showed the number of updates available, or it stated there were no updates.  Then in a few more moments it would disappear again but the upper green bar would still remain.

FTR...

Ver 2.2.13

Frontend 2.2.9-5

ISY 5.3.4

My ISY still has the ball, the Polisy is still just an adjunct and is NOT running its internal ISY provision.

I hope this helps.  I fear I'm getting everybody confused over nothing...

@Snibley

You're attempting to update the Polisy from PG2 which has been depreciated.

Instead, you should use the admin console, Under System | Upgrade packages.

Also, if your "upgrade bios" is not greyed out then you need to upgrade that as well.

@Techman OP stated running ISY994 v5.3.4; those buttons aren't available on the ISY994. The process you reference is only available on IoP. Additionally, the OP is using PG2 and hasn't updated to PG3. Sadly, OP apparently didn't receive the email that was sent in early July or didn't read the forum post referenced in their original post warning that the SSH method was causing issues.

@Michel Kohanim informed the OP to submit a ticket for assistance because there are certain steps that must be attempted if the SSH update method is attempted and corrupts libraries.

So, the best way to resolve this, currently, is through opening a support ticket.
