ISY on Polisy/EISY programming

Assuming I didn't miss it, it would be nice to have a forum just for the ISY scripting/programming.  It seems to improve without much fanfair and there are some features I've only just noticed after over a decade of using it.  I'd also like to be able to copy and paste the script text from the Java app.

One klunky thing I script is Insteon dimmer switch to Hue bulb brightness.  I'd like a way to copy the switch dim value directly into the Hue brightness command.  Right now I use half a dozen folders with different dim ranges that set a hardcoded Hue brightness.  It's posible this already exists and I'm just missing it.

The command I just found was the Last Run Time command.  This allowed me to give regular alerts if I leave my garage open.  I suspect a forum dedicated to ISY scripting/programming would make it hard to miss cool features, especially when combined with the ability copy examples out of the ISY java app.

Most of use you the ISY Cookbook for examples. It can be found  at: ISY Cookbook

Even though it was written for ISY, the programing examples are still relevant today.

What are you referring to when you say ISY Java app? Are you talking about the admin console?

If you want to copy a program from the admin console, right click the program name in the left hand tree and select copy to clipboard. You can then paste the program here or a word document for reference or as an example.

@Lore as @DennisC mentions the ISY Cookbook there are some guides in the Wiki (they might be the same as the cookbook.

Otherwise, it's usually just been an ask/request in the IoX Support forum to ask for help programming something.

Try to be as detailed as you can be for what your goal is. Also, it would help if you post any attempt(s) you've made at the program. Finally, always include your Firmware and the devices you're programming on. As @DennisC also points out the best/clearest way to share a program on the forums is to right click on the program and select "Copy to Clipboard" then paste into your text area here (don't use quote or code block, just post as plain text).

There might be some old ISY programming videos on Youtube, but they're dated. Some (most) ideas will still apply to current IoX versions on Polisy or eisy.

I'd suggest a new topic for each program issue you run into. Trying to help multiple issues in one thread gets a little confusing. It will also help any others that search for something similar to find the discussion for JUST that issue.

Subject suggestion:   "REQUEST Programming Help: Set A to do B"

Thanks, I never noticed the copy to clipboard feature and didn't realize the ISY software was called IoX.  I posted my scripting question to that forum.
