MrBill Posted July 18, 2023 Posted July 18, 2023 When you say "i have cleared everything in the java settings and rebooted" does that mean you checked all 3 boxes including for "Installed Applications and Applets"? which is not checked by default. Are you using Launcher or a copy of admin.jnlp? Win or Mac? You can also try deleting .state files. 1
Solution Michel Kohanim Posted July 18, 2023 Solution Posted July 18, 2023 Usually firewall issue. With kind regards, Michel 2
sun-sense Posted July 19, 2023 Author Posted July 19, 2023 (edited) MrBill: Yes, all Three. Windows. admin.jnlp Michel: Yes, your right. Thanks. AV. Kaspersky Premium. Couldn't find the setting as it's been changed. Exited Kaspersky and Microsoft defender kicked in. Sent me an alert and I approved the connection. Now it works. Still looking for the Kaspersky Premium setting. I wish they would stop changing things around. The instructions to Kaspersky on the wiki doesn't work any more as it's all changed on the version I have. Edited July 19, 2023 by sun-sense

Expand Probably because not many people use such programs these days. That wiki page hasn't been edited since 2018, and before that 2016 so I'm sure all the programs have changed a lot through the years. Glad you got it working though! Good luck finding the setting in the latest version of the firewall software. I'm sure it will move to a different spot next version. Gives them a reason to charge for "updated" software.
sun-sense Posted July 19, 2023 Author Posted July 19, 2023 OK - Found it. Security - All protection components are enabled - gear/settings - Network attack blocker - Manage exclusions, then add the IP address.

Just the built in Microsoft defender ? Expand Yes, The built in O/S software. It is much faster, updated before the viruses come out, and virus attacks just seem to stop happening once you discard 3rd party anti-virus softwares. I haven't seen a virus on any system for probably over 20 years now, since I stopped downloading trojan horses with big-brand anti-virus software names on them. Norton (freebie) ended up crashing my whole system years ago. It couldn't be removed and I had to low-level format my complete HDD. It had installed portions into the initial bootup sector of the HDD and kept reloading it's demon packets off the cloud.
