mikek Posted August 15, 2023 Posted August 15, 2023 Can anyone confirm compatibility of the Aeotec Siren 6 with the 994? Does anyone have experience with this device? Recommendations for an alternative?
landolfi Posted August 16, 2023 Posted August 16, 2023 (edited) I am using it with the Polisy and Zmatter board, currently running IoX 5.6.4. I originally got it to be a repeater but every once in a while someone moves it or closes the cabinet it's in with too much force and then it goes off. But it just works. Are you having trouble adding it or thinking of buying one? Edited August 16, 2023 by landolfi
mikek Posted August 16, 2023 Author Posted August 16, 2023 Thanks for the reply. When you say "goes off", do you mean that it stops working/communicating or that the siren sounds? This would be a new device. Mainly looking for something for low volume notifications rather than a high volume siren, but the Aeotec seems to have enough options for that purpose. I don't really like the wall wart idea (I think I saw that the previous generation was a plug-in). In general, I'm not finding a lot of alternatives. Ecolink has one and I found a few other knock-offs, but the Aeotec seems to be the most popular.
landolfi Posted August 16, 2023 Posted August 16, 2023 No I mean it goes off as in makes a heck of a racket. I have the volume turned way down. Many options for sounds besides siren, like ding dong, chimes, and klaxon, 30 in all. When I first added it to the network it also seemed to improve Zwave performance.
Techman Posted August 16, 2023 Posted August 16, 2023 If you have Zwave, an alternative to the Insteon siren is the Ecolink 700 Ecolink 700 Series Z-Wave Siren/Notification Device - Ecolink (discoverecolink.com) You can record custom voice messages on an SD card in addition to using its prerecorded sounds. It works well with the ISY994, the Polisy and the EISY.
mikek Posted August 16, 2023 Author Posted August 16, 2023 Thanks. I looked at that Ecolink but can't find the user manual. The support tab on that page doesn't bring up any information. Any chance you can point me in the direction of some documentation?
Techman Posted August 16, 2023 Posted August 16, 2023 @mikek The documentation is attached. The included sound effects may differ a little from what the documentation shows. Ecolink Zwave Chime.pdf
