CTBigman Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 Hello, I have several ISY installations and have run into a problem. On one site I have an ISY99iPro V 3.2.6 I have the option to "replace" switches and receptacles, but no replace feature for KPL's, so how do I replace a dead KPL that has multiple links? I have another site with an ISY99i/IR v 3.1.6 and I do not have any "replace" option, is this only available on the Pro???? and if so what is the best method to replace a dead KPL with multiple links?. I searched the forum and found "Replacing an 8 button keypadlinc question " from ingeborgdot and he seems to have the "replace" KPL option, what am I missing?????
Illusion Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 First remove the device from any folder it may be in.
Illusion Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 No, not scene. In my experience, the only time a person has not had the Replace with option available in the contextual menu is when the device is in a sub folder. After right clicking on the device it should be right there under restore if the device is in the root folder of 'My Lighting' and there is a device in the ISY with which to replace it.
CTBigman Posted May 16, 2012 Author Posted May 16, 2012 Thank you very much, you were dead on!!! Both jobs are so large (100+ devices) that I had created folders for the rooms/areas to make it easier to create scenes. So can I remove it from the folder, "replace" with new KPL and then move it back to the folder?
CTBigman Posted May 16, 2012 Author Posted May 16, 2012 Another question, to "replace" a 5-button KPL, I would need to move all 5 buttons out of the folder and then "replace" each one individually? or does it change all because of the KPL MAC address? What is the proper procedure? Thank you again for your help
CTBigman Posted May 16, 2012 Author Posted May 16, 2012 I just logged into the 2nd site that has an ISY99iPro v 3.2.6 and the devices are not in folders, I do not have the option to remove from folder and I also do not have the replace option for the KPL's What else could it be???
Michel Kohanim Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 Hello CTBigman, Please make sure that the UI you are using is also at 3.2.6 (Help | About). If you do not get the Replace Option, then the only possibility is that there are no compatible devices that you can replace. Are you replacing with identical devices? With kind regards, Michel
LeeG Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 CTBigman Just a thought, be sure you right click on the KeypadLinc primary load control node. That node has the Replace with ... option. Secondary KeypadLinc button nodes do not have the Replace with option as an individual button cannot be replaced.

CTBigman Posted May 17, 2012 Author Posted May 17, 2012 CTBigman Just a thought, be sure you right click on the KeypadLinc primary load control node. That node has the Replace with ... option. Secondary KeypadLinc button nodes do not have the Replace with option as an individual button cannot be replaced. LeeG can you explain in a little more detail. On a 5 button KPL the "On" button the primary load control node right? Do the 5 buttons equal 5 nodes??
LeeG Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 Sure. For a 6 button KeypadLinc there are five ISY nodes defined in the My Lighting tree. The first node represents the ON/OFF buttons. The ON/OFF buttons use the same Group number (01) so they are represented by one node. The ON button sends an On command for Group 01. The OFF button sends an Off command for Group 1. Each of the 4 Secondary KeypadLinc buttons has a unique ISY node. This means that for a six button KeypadLinc there are 5 nodes in the My Lighting tree. Only the ISY node representing the ON/OFF buttons has the Replace with ... option. This node represents the complete KeypadLinc for things like Replace with... and Delete as the activity applies to the entire KeypadLinc.
CTBigman Posted May 17, 2012 Author Posted May 17, 2012 Thank you for the explanation, I appreciate your wisdom/help Dave
