You don't need the keyed D Shaped holes... just tighten them down good... unless you are constantly moving the antennas around it will not be an issue.
-
No, it should be left slot. Probably doesn't matter though really but I would put it in left as per instructions. I don't think there will be a process release to migrate until 12/01/2022 as per email. We are very excited to let you know that we received the ZMatter modules in full, and sample testing has been completed. While we put the final touches on the IoX (ISY on Anything) – especially backup/restore – we decided to start shipping out the orders by tomorrow (11/23). Preparations: 1. If your Polisy has been collecting dust for more than a year, the first thing you need to do is to freshen it up. Here’s how you do it. Once done, you can access your Polisy just like you did your ISY994. Here’s how to do so. 2. If you have not already migrated your ISY994 to Polisy, that’s the first thing you need to do. Migration is easy and you can even use your existing PLM for INSTEON/X10 communications. Here are the instructions. 3. You will be sent further instructions for the required IoX version and how-tos for untapping our additional features and enhancements by 12/01/2022. Installation Instructions: 1. Unplug Polisy from power 2. Take off the top panel by unscrewing the 4 screws on the sides (2 on each side) 3. Connect the SMA side of the antenna wires into the two holes on each side of the top panel 4. Plugin the ZMatter board into the first mPCIe slot from the left. Ensure that it latches in just like the SSD. Please note, you may not have a WiFI card. 5. Align the top panel on top of Polisy and move it backward so that you can see the u.FL connectors on the board. 6. Gently push in the u.FL side of the antenna wires into the u.FL connectors. Ensure that they click in 7. Gently push the top panel back so that it’s flush with the bottom and screw back the 4 screws on the sides 8. Attach the antennas one on each side. NOTE: facing the front of the unit · Z-Wave antenna has a Yellow band on top and goes to the left · Zigbee antenna has a Red band on top and goes to the right Enjoy the beauty! Upgrade Packages Installed 5.4.5 and Factory Query Program Not Working
brians replied to btreinders's topic in IoX Support
I have long disabled Query on startup since it seems to lock up the ISY for long period of time and proves troubleshooting difficult. I write my own query app that I maintain manually for only the things I require to query on startup. I set the program to run at startup. Some things don't have query option in program like Zen17 binary sensor so I use a network resource. I still let Query run at 3am and seems to work, but while it is running makes ISY unusable, especially after an update. -
I am guessing no, they just changed date to 24th on their site.

Support thread for: ISY on Polisy (IoP) v5.4.4 (May 25, 2022)
brians replied to Michel Kohanim's topic in IoX Support
What are the release notes 5.4.5? Cloud also didn’t work for me earlier. -
I agree using Node server to do the non Thread devices will be the answer... and probably even possible without the ZMatter board (unless it is needed for security). Regarding OP question about exposing devices, Michel posted this a while ago.
-
Is this board going to actually be using Thread? Everything I read elsewhere refers to the radio portion Matter can use being called "Thread", which is an RF protocol that Matter runs on top of (Matter can also use other protocols such as WiFi). However with Polisy, it is advertised that the RF module as being called "Matter", not "Thread" which does not seem is the right nomenclature to me because the RF portion shouldn't be referred to as "Matter".

Yes very easy to make one... I used one of these (I have many laying around from old Cisco days)... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rollover_cable I cut off the existing RJ45 end, then checked continuity using a multi-meter on the serial port end to locate the wires for appropriate pins 2, 3, and GND. Note that not all cables are made same and some have different colors, so cannot really make a guide based on color. I then used a new RJ45 crimp connect and connected the correct wires pins to 1,7,8. Since I work in IT, have experience in cabling/terminating, and I have these tools, it may be be a challenge for many others. Therefore what you can do is cut the existing cable back a bit further or in half, and just figure out which wires on each end correspond to what pins using a multi-meter and reconnect the wires appropriately (preferably solder, but twisting/taping would work) instead of crimping a new end on. Lots available here for cheap.... https://www.ebay.ca/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1313&_nkw=cisco+console+cable&_sacat=0

The backup is not tricky at all, I explained how I did on page 3 and others have done since. What makes you think the Zooz dongle is failing and its not the Polisy and/or something on your Z-Wave network? If the Zooz Z-Wave dongle is failing, chances are it would not be intermittent and would just stop working... considering that you are able to get it working again by rebooting tells me that it is not the dongle since others have had issues like this including myself. This is probably one reason why UD is moving to the custom ZMatter board because they realize that the Zooz dongle is not very reliable. If you want best Z-Wave support now, the best bet is/was to get the ZMatter board for your Polisy (if it is still available for preorder) - you are going to need it anyways for EISY. I am not as optimistic that the EISY is going to be available next month, other than possibly a preorder which could have a shipping date in December or going into next early year.

@asbrilThere was no significant difference updating firmware on the Zooz... I did only because I was having problems with a Zen25 double plug but seems like it did not fix it. In my case the Zen25 seemed to be flooding the Z-Wave network with updates about itself which caused the network to die. Unplugging Zen25, disabling in IoP, and rebooting Polisy fixed. Since you have a lot of Z-Wave devices, I suggest that you look at the logs and see if you can see a particular device that is sending lots of traffic. Edit.. I found this huge thread about problems with Zen25 on hubitat.... too long to read but don't think there is a resolution. https://community.hubitat.com/t/incident-zooz-double-plug-model-zen25/58017/358

From my understanding, the Z-Wave USB hardware devices like the Zooz store all the node information about your Z-Wave devices, and the ISY would communicate with it at a higher level. For example, when I upgraded my defective Zooz stick (which had problem doing OTW firmware update), I backed it up to a file on PC and restored to the new stick and ISY did not even realize that anything changed. I believe what will happen is that UD will backup the existing series 500/700 boards' configuration, and then write that node information back to the new ZMatter devices in its format. This probably requires some translation between how the devices work.
-
The upgrade looks trivial... its a mini PCI Express card and these just pop in with edge connector and some screws to secure to standoffs on the mainboard. Then mount the antennas on Polisy case and click in the antenna connectors onto the board. Since I have a Polisy already, and lots of Z-Wave devices, it is a no-brainer for me to upgrade to the Zmatter - especially with all the promised Z-Wave features; UD made it pretty clear that there is no more feature support for the Zooz dongle. The Polisy/Zooz combination will probably very soon become like the ISY994i with the old 300 series board where you have to use an older ISY firmware to make Z-Wave continue to work. This would explain why they offer to buy back your Zooz dongle, because it makes them less obligated from ongoing support. Of course, I could be wrong on all this, but since they are switching to new Z-Wave API I would not see them doing much more working on old version and having to be concerned back-porting new features breaking integration. Even if I was compelled to upgrade to an EISY in near future, I would still probably buy another ZMatter board for it. I would most likely re-sell Polisy, and having one without a ZMatter card would not make it as appealing to resell vs. a complete unit.

Z-wave devices stop working after PG3 update
brians replied to tlightne's topic in Polyglot v3 (PG3x)
I have had my Z-Wave Zooz dongle seem to become unresponsive a few times since I switched over to Polisy this past January. I attribute it to just a glitch and hard reboot and has fixed each time. The last time this happened however, I did notice that a Zooz ZEN25 double plug was causing the issue... sending out too much Z-Wave traffic so I unplugged and disabled and everything is fine. It is of note that I have had issues with this plug before and the last Zooz Z-Wave stick update seemed to have resolved it, but guess not. I'm not worrying about it am waiting for new ZMatter board. -
@gages97if. you are referring specifically about the zen32... I don't think this ZMatter board will fix the issues with the zen32 because of the way the zen32's buttons handles scenes.
-
I just pre-ordered the ZMatter board however there was no shipping option to Canada so I had to ship to my USA address reshipper. If this is a glitch I can probably get them to adjust later, but I just wanted to make sure I got one if there is limited supply. https://www.universal-devices.com/product/zmatter-z-wave-matter-module-for-polisy-beta/ Edit... got a reply from UD and apparently they stopped shipping to Canada.
-
I got the impression that the USB option may not be available right away and the only ones we are told available for preorder end of this week are going to be the internal ZMatter boards. I could be wrong, if you have option to purchase USB then go for that right away, but I think its why Michel mentioned you can upgrade later on using a USB adapter for EISY and use the existing Zmatter polisy board. It could also be that the actual EISY USB ZMatter they will sell for EISY are going to be configure as a ZMatter board inside a USB adapter.
-
Michel said somewhere else that there will be an external usb adapter available to place the internal zmatter board to use in an eisy. I am going to try to order zmatter board asap for my polisy as I see no need for eisy right now as it won’t add anything new software features over a polisy probably for quite a while. It’s better zwave support I am looking at.

What is an eisy? Is this something added to a Polisy/IoP or is it referring to the hardware upgrade for Polisy?

How to make Insteon 6-Button Ctrl status match Fan speed set with Alexa?
brians replied to kzboray's topic in IoX Support
I figured out how to use Alexa to change fanlinc speed as per the portal forum post. Setup in portal the fanlinc device as a type fan. Make spoken something like bedroom fan alexa set bedroom fan to 1 (low) alexa set bedroom fan to 2 (med) alexa set bedroom fan to 3 (hi) I can’t get to recognize words medium and high like many others and numbers only work. Note that when I set it to 1 it will cosmetically change to 0 in Alexa app and appear off but it is actually low. Doesn’t really matter unless looking at Alexa app. Setup four programs that adjust scenes for keypads led to keep in sync I mentioned how earlier. This method must use programs and not only scenes because we control fanlinc directly from Alexa as a device fan not scenes. -
@MrBillAhh I didn't know it displayed that way.. I only used it for figuring out a door lock user. Would be nice if there was some easier way to get the link, or reference in notifications.
-
Could you send the pool temp directly to the notification rather than looking for the Node server? Usually in programs can assign a tempvar = node temp and then use tempvar in notification.
-
That version is only in non production store and you have removed from production?
