I've lived there 30+ years. Nothing has changed. Some older relatives still use "Slow Time"/"Fast Time". Every road trip requires consideration of what time shifts we have to consider. Every year or two the topic of just sticking with DST (or EST depending on which side you are on) comes up in the state legislature. Briefly makes the news. Then goes back into the dustbin of state history. (Marijuana legalization has now joined it there. All the states around us have legalized it in one form or another, but not Indiana.)
  2. Deleted the KPL from EISY and factory reset the KPL. Now all the LEDs and backlight are working again. A Switchlinc next to the KPL was also dim, so I removed it from EISY and factory reset it. It is now working. Found two other switches in my house with dim LEDs. I have never messed with them before (as far as LEDs go). Removed them from EISY and factory reset them. LEDs are now on. Deleted a few programs that were referencing these devices since they no longer exist in EISY. May re-link them later on. I'm going to throw this out there... I recently upgraded to v6.0.5. Could that have caused these rather odd problems? Enough frustration for today. I'll re-link these devices to EISY later. I've reset it once or twice using the Reboot button in Admin Console. Didn't help. I'm on Windows 11.
  3. Rebooted EISY. No help. Every button on the KPL gives me the "Could not read config file" when I click the "LED Brightness" button. Is that error coming from the device itself or from the EISY?
  4. All the devices are in the dimmed mode. Running the second program's THEN clause does nothing as far as the devices are concerned. I have no idea why these stopped working. Typical Insteon/IoX -- works great until it suddenly and unexpectedly doesn't.
  5. I use two small programs. I may combine them into one. The KPL is turned completely off while two adjacent Switchlincs are just dimmed (since they only have one LED and aren't as intrusive, plus this keeps a "nightlight effect" so I can find the switches in the dark. KEYPD 7D 2200 Keypds Dim - [ID 004E][Parent 004B] If Time is 10:00:00PM Then Set 'Master Bedroom / MBR Keypad / KPDMBR.Btn1+6TrkLts' Backlight On 0 / Off 0 Set 'Master Bedroom / MBREast Table Lamps' Backlight 10% Set 'Master Bedroom / MBREast Ceiling Fan' Backlight 10% Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') KEYPD 7D SNRS Keypds Bright - [ID 004D][Parent 004B] If Time is Sunrise Then Set 'Master Bedroom / MBR Keypad / KPDMBR.Btn1+6TrkLts' Backlight On 15 / Off 7 Set 'Master Bedroom / MBREast Table Lamps' Backlight 100% Set 'Master Bedroom / MBREast Ceiling Fan' Backlight 100% Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action')
  6. I've had this KPL in my bedroom for many years. About a year or so ago I fooled around with creating a program to turn the LEDs off at night so my wife wouldn't complain about how much light pollution they create. I thought I had it working, but today I noticed all the LEDs/backlight are stuck in the off state (KPL works OK but is completely dark). So I went in to Admin Console to figure out what is going on. In the center of the screen there is a Backlight button with a value box. The value is 0/0, so I changed it to ON 15/OFF 7 and clicked the Backlight button. KPL is still dark. Next I tried the LED Brightness button at the bottom of the screen. That just gives me the error message. I tried clicking Write Changes and still dark. I may remove this KPL from EISY and do a factory reset on it and then relink it to the EISY. My typical "go back to square one" approach. I just wish I know what all the options on that screen are supposed to do. Most of them seem useless right now but maybe that's due to some kind of corruption in the device's memory or settings. I should note that since the KPL is completely dark, I cannot tell if buttons or on or off. I don't use them as much as I used to so I may just yank the KPL out and put in a SwitchLinc.
  7. I was checking my Admin Console today and tried some of the option buttons for a 2334-2 KeypadLinc. I keep getting this error: Could not read config file. [./FILES/CONF/32FBC1.REC] Can anybody tell me what that means and what do I need to do to fix it? Do I need to delete the KeypadLinc from EISY and then re-link it? Should I factory reset it first? Also, is there any documentation available that explains all the options available for a KeypadLinc and what each one does? There's buttons and boxes in the middle of the page, and buttons at the bottom of the page that seem to be the same. I've spent a lot of time experimenting with each button and value box to try and learn what they do but still remain frustrated. I think some of them are non-functional from what I can tell. I've tried the Wiki but there's nothing there that I can find. Thanks.
  8. Help tell me I'm not seeing things... Create a folder but don't put anything in it. Then right-click the folder and see the Enable and Disable options. Then put a program (even an empty one) in the folder. Then see that the Enable and Disable goes away. Delete the program and they come back. Sounds to me like an "undocumented feature". I'm getting conflicting information... Please create a folder but don't put anything in it. Then right-click the folder name and you should see the Enable and Disable options. Then put a program (even an empty one) in the folder. Now you'll see that the folder's Enable and Disable goes away. Delete the program and they come back. Sounds to me like an "undocumented feature". I simple want to park "retired" programs in there and be sure the ISY won't run them. Ever. I may have to just export them to my hard drive and delete them from Admin Console. Sorry for the repeated post. The forum is doing something funny to me.
  9. I was reading some of the IoX documentation and saw a comment about folders being "enabled or disabled". I had never looked into that before, and thought "that would be a good way to handle programs I no longer actively use but don't want to delete either." I figured I could drag a non-used program into a folder and mark the folder DISABLED. I know I can disable the programs themselves, but a comment in the doco said that under certain circumstances the ISY may go ahead and run a program even though it is disabled. To me, this sounds in the least inconvenient, and potentially dangerous. I just want a way to stash code away and know that it will never run. So I created a new folder. When I right-click the folder I see the options to Enable or Disable the folder. I select Disable. First problem noted: There is no change in the folder icon or any other obvious change to indicate the folder is either Enabled or Disabled. Huh. Next I created two test programs inside the folder and leave them Enabled. Then I right-clicked the folder and now the Enable/Disable options are GONE. I right-click the folder and go to Status. I have to search the Path column for the new folder. I see the two new programs, and in the Enabled column both show ON. I right-click both programs and disable them. Go back to the Status page and now the Enabled column shows a dash (not OFF as I would have expected). Can anybody help me learn how folders are supposed to work, as far as enabling/disabling, and why they don't seem to work the way I would assume? Thanks. Jon
  10. I use the 2413S with my EISY (and previously my ISY-994i). My PLM is 15-20 years old (can't remember when I bought it) and still ticking. I'm glad I bought a spare PLM several months ago!
  11. Every time I open UDM 1.6.3 on my Android phone (Galaxy S24), I see a few devices or scenes displayed in the wrong status. Today I had one wall switch and two scenes that appeared to be "on", even though they are not. Yesterday it told me two switches in my living room were on, even though I was sitting there at the time and could confirm they were off. I did a "sync" in the app, and still they appeared in the "on" state. Just to be sure, I turned them off and back on in the app, and the switches behaved as expected. Pretty much every time that I use the app I run into this. Is there a reason it is not very reliable? Fortunately I don't use it very often. Thanks.
  12. I created a "Favorite" to run a small program to turn on a fan for one hour. When I open my Favorites page I see the icon for the program. If I tap it the properties page for that program are displayed. If I click the back arrow to return to the icon (without changing anything on the properties), now there is a small circle in the top left corner of the square. If I tap the icon again, it runs the program and the circle turns solid blue (i.e. meaning "on"). I would prefer to be able to just tap the favorite and run it, without having to go through the properties display each time. But the little circle doesn't appear when the favorite is first displayed. Only after I open Properties and close it again. Is this the normal behavior?
  13. Rebooted and ran uninstaller. No Java found. Ran the offline installer. 1603. Ugh, this is worse than when I had a real job as a developer!
  14. That command returns: C:\Windows\System32> where.exe java C:\ProgramData\Oracle\Java\javapath\java.exe I didn't realize that folder was around. I deleted the Oracle folder and tried again. Still got 1603. I have a laptop upstairs (that still works with Admin Console) and a desktop computer in my basement (next to my EISY and PLM) which is the one I'm having trouble with. I've used it for over a decade to run Admin Console with no problems until now. I'll keep hacking at this... Yes it is Windows 11.
  15. I can find no trace of Java files on my system from previous installs. Lots of JavaScript files tied to various applications on my computer, but I know JavaScript is not related to Java. Yes I right-clicked and ran the offline installer as admin. I even logged on to my computer's Admin account and tried running from there. No luck. I went to my antivirus application and paused protection. No help. Still looking...
  16. Yeah, I've tried that. Still get 1603. I love when the company tells you to go to the Java Control Panel to fix the problem, when there is no trace of Java on my system.
  17. I know this is a long shot so please bear with me. I'm quite frustrated with Java. I use Admin Console on two computers in my home. On one of them it stopped working recently (in the last month maybe). I found that Java was no longer on the computer. I don't know when or how that got removed (I don't use this particular computer very often, so I can't tell when this started). I know sometimes Oracle sends out an update and forces JRE to be replaced, but I don't know if that broke it. When I try to install the latest Java JRE I keep getting an error 1603 "Java install did not complete", and nothing more. I have spent over 3 hours today trying everything I can find to resolve this - YT videos, Java help articles, Googling, user suggestions, running as Admin, messing with folder permissions, rebooting, you name it. Java simply will not install no matter what. I've even observed it populating its target folder with some files and folders during the install process, but then it deletes them and throws up the 1603. I've even logged on with an Administer account but that didn't make a difference. Has anybody heard of anything like this or have any suggestions? I'm at my wits end, and cannot get Admin Console working any more. I've been using it for many years on this computer. Now Java is messing up. Thanks.
  18. OK, dumb question... How do I link a wall switch to a lamp module in ISY? Do I have to create a scene? I think I already know this but want to confirm, before I mess anything up. Thanks.
  19. Hmm. Maybe you've taught an old dog a new trick. I always assumed if I did linking through ISY then every time I tapped a switch the ISY would recognize my "switch on" action and THEN send a command to the lamp module. Thus a short delay. Next time I have to do any linking I'll use just the ISY and then see how things go. Thanks! Another question... If I suspect some older devices may have bad link entries in them, is there a way to wipe them clean (like a factory reset) using the ISY? For example, I've never liked trying to pull the little tab below a light switch paddle (air gap) to reset it. Always feared it would break off. It would be nice to tell ISY to "initialize" a device's memory somehow. Or if Insteon could design their switches so you just hold the OFF position for 15 seconds to force a reset.
  20. I link devices directly together for speed. e.g. A wall switch linked directly to a lamp module turns the lamp on instantly. I then link all my devices to the ISY so that I can use programs, see their status, etc. Yesterday at 7AM all my lights suddenly came on. The same thing happened at 5PM a couple of days earlier. I looked in the ISY Log and there are no entries showing the devices being activated. No explanation. I gave up and deleted the ALL LIGHTS scene. Hopefully no more Insteon hallucinations.
  21. When I discovered the pole lamp was no longer responding to the bedroom wall switch, the first think I did was try to link the wall switch to the appliance module. The linking beeped successfully, but the lamp still did not turn on/off with the wall switch. So next I did a factory reset on the appliance module and then manually linked it to the wall switch. Just like I've done for years. This got the wall switch working correctly again with the pole lamp. Then I had to remove it from Admin Console and re-link it to Admin Console in order to fix the broken Bedroom Lights scene so Alexa would turn the lamp off again. Anyways, everything is back to working the way it has for many years. Going back to the beginning of my post, why would simply adding a device (or devices) to an existing scene (All Lights) in EISY cause existing links in the devices to be wiped out? I just used "Add to scene". It never said anything about wiping out existing links between devices. Annoying to say the least. And the "New modules" dialog box thing is a bug that I've been having since v6.0.0. I have to reboot EISY to clear it out. I'm currently on v6.0.5. Oh, and here's another nit to pick... When I click Start Linking in console, the Linking In Progress dialog box appears, as well as a small timer dialog box. NEITHER ONE can be cancelled (if I change my mind for instance). The red X in the corner doesn't close either box (which UI standards usually require). But that flaw has been around for years, so never mind. LOL Thank you all of you for your comments. I'll try to remember this as yet another foible in Insteon programming (which often seems like a Jenga game).
  22. Reboot got rid of the "New Insteon Devices" false dialog.
  23. Oh, and now when I start up Admin Console I get a pop-up box titled "New Insteon Devices" and shows me the address for an 2635-222 On/Off Module. Sure enough it is the pole lamp's module. Every time I open Admin Console this dialog appear, and all I can do is close it. This module has been in use for years and worked perfectly until the changes described earlier. This is reminiscent of problems on several devices I was having before I upgraded to v6.0.5. Now it's happening again. Ugh. I'll reboot EISY and see if this goes away.
  24. IDK. This is first time I've added so many things to a scene. But how is the EISY wiping out existing links within and between the modules? Makes no sense.
