Get the sound file and have it play via the Elk security speaker when its pressed. Lol
-
You could do power off locked as a failsafe or visa versa if needed. #JustSayin #NotSayin Edit: auto correct fix
-
Nope - but you could send a maker URL via IFTTT to the ISY to trigger something.
-
Take a look at this, maybe it will work for you. Push/press/click: A smart button roundup https://ifttt.com/blog/2016/09/push-press-click--a-smart-button-roundup?utm_content=buffer3b633&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer

Missed this but saw it today and wanted to share. Here are some other "buttons" you can use now in conjunction with IFTTT. Its not the same as this product but might be useful for other things. https://ifttt.com/blog/2016/09/push-press-click--a-smart-button-roundup?utm_content=buffer3b633&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer

You stated a lot of things including pinging Google. [emoji12]
-
You actually ping the PC. Some let you ping a specific port for the service too.

Heres another option https://www.domotz.com

What about if you ping a service and not the IP? Edit: By service I mean port

Smarthome SELECT Electronic Water Shutoff Valve, 3/4-inch, 12V DC
Scottmichaelj replied to G W's topic in ISY994
I know this is getting a bit off topic and not even 100% certain if it would work but the Hunter Hydrawise has a valve that monitors water leaks etc. Not sure if you can retrofit this to a hose bib. Just tossing it out there. https://www.hydrawise.com I been looking at this for my own irrigation to replace my EZFlora and get some protection for leaks. I been looking at trying to get more info on the API. Carry on and sorry to interrupt. -
I completely agree, but trying to not preach my opinions and just help. If it was me and IF this PC is not 100% dedicated to security cameras then I would add another PC so it was. As a side note, I have found PING to be a pretty reliable way to know if a PC has frozen up but agree it's not 100%
-
This is also a good reason to add a PING feature to the ISY via Network Resources. IF the PING times out on "X" time then DO "Y" - seems like a simple thing but would be very useful for things like this without investing on more hardware and helping sales of the NR module.
-
Might be easier to use a Digital Loggers Web Switch and setup a reboot on the loss of PING to that PC http://www.digital-loggers.com/lpc.html Make sure the PC is set in the BIOS to power back on after a restore of power. Then have an email sent from it when it sends a power cycle knowing it rebooted. There is also a way to do simple scripts in the Web switch that might be helpful too. It also might help to setup a program on your PC to power cycle itself at a time of your choice (or randomly) to possibly stop the freezing up all together.

Smarthome SELECT Electronic Water Shutoff Valve, 3/4-inch, 12V DC
Scottmichaelj replied to G W's topic in ISY994
Someone just asked me this question the other day and I didn't have an answer for them. They had someone turn on their hose bib and they didn't notice it until the water was flowing down their driveway when the left for work. Not sure of a solution. -

No you need a water sensor connected to a zone. When the water sensor is "violated" (triggered by water) then your ELK will turn it off via the "OUT" on the ELK M1G board. The installation instructions are here (which are the same as the one you got): http://www.elkproducts.com/products/elk-wsv2-professional-grade-water-shutoff-valve Then you will create a "Rule" in the ElkRP software that says: When Zone "X" is violated Then turn off water Also be aware to help minimize or clear mineral buildup on the valve face, periodically auto-cycle it once a week, month, etc. EDIT: Here is an example of a hardwire water sensor http://www.homesecuritystore.com/safety/water-flood-sensors/tri-ed-2600 -
Echo goes mobile. Hundai now, Ford & BMW later
Scottmichaelj replied to stusviews's topic in Amazon Echo
So the "BMW Connect" iOS app has been updated with Amazon Echo Alexa integration. Here's the details: One the BMW connect iOS app is updated you will find this page in the app: Then as it says you go into the Amazon Alexa app and enable to BMW skill. The details are: So far it works as advertised. I saw it mentioned you can check fuel levels and some other commands so I am still looking for the full list. And Teken there doesn't seem to be remote start so don't worry about saving the lemmings. [emoji12] -
Yes each zone requires a transformer. There is no workaround that I found. Maybe someone knows a transformer with zones but I havent seen one. I like a KPL with a button to control the zones too as mentioned. Just buy the smallest transformer you need for each zone. Most the spotlights run about 15W and 5W for path and stair/step lights. I like the way Unique has the hubs. You run the main line to a hub and then each light off it. Keeps all voltage the same and none of that, "first light is bright and last light on the line is dim" causing the bulbs to burn out faster.
-
Heres my opinion. If you have an outlet by the house in a waterproof box just use the outletlinc and plug the transformer into it. Then run the low volt lines from it to the deck. I did this same thing in my previous home for my BBQ island lighting. FWIW Unique Landscapes makes so seriously good stuff but its pricey. My transformer is 10 years old and runs strong. It runs every night all night. The leds last forever too. There is also VOLT lighting that is my second favorite that I use a lot.

Yes and yes or use a wired sensor if you can also back to the elk. If the sensor is trigger the elk can turn off the valve. Easy. -
What is the subscription fees for the isy portal?
Scottmichaelj replied to Blackbird's topic in UD Portal
No problem just trying to help. I also backed it but want to wait and see first. Plus not sure if there's a need since I do own two Amazon DOTS. -
