  1. Hello Orest, That's really great to hear and thanks for sticking it out to try. Please ensure you test and validate this sensor over the next few months to ensure it continues to operate as expected. As an aside its always best practice to hard reset all new Insteon hardware from the factory. Doing so ensures the device is reset to a OEM state, removes half links, and test programming that may be present.
  2. Understood, and some of the items you indicated I also tried with out success. I've blogged about this odd behavior for what seems like forever but its safe to say when the system is finally migrated to HTML5. That will be at least one area we can strike off the list as being Java related. For all we know its the endless Java updates over the last 24 months but who really knows? What I do know is in the past I could leave the console open for days with out issues. Now, my sessions mirror yours and you simply don't ever know if the console is live or off line. The whole refreshing thing is just a band aid and doesn't give me the warm fuzzy at all. Because if you have to press the refresh you already know your sessions isn't actually live.
  3. Please also measure the battery to ensure its at the proper voltage level even though it stated as having a 10 year service life. Smartlabs has indicated a few bad cells have been installed over the last few quarters.
  4. Hey Larry, As indicated to Orest I would ensure all the above possibilities have been tracked which I listed above. As a data point during my Alpha / Beta trials for Brultech it was found the module that sends state variables to the controller caused the system to freeze. Once this issue was identified by me and relayed to Brultech a break fix was released. As of this writing my ISY Series Controller has been up and running with out the need for a hard reboot for 2261 hours or (94 days). In the past I would be hard pressed to see the controller make it past 3-7 days of service.
  5. Excellent, keep the group updated on the final outcome . . .
  6. Hello Orest, For the sake of asking you would please follow the steps outlined by Stu and hard reset the new leak sensor which doesn't seem to be operating correctly. At least if you do this step you will know its defective or not - It would also save the time shipping the product back . . .
  7. Hello Orest, This is a known issue and to date there is no final solution to resolve this matter. My statement assumes this is not a firewall, anti-virus, pop up blocker, incorrect Admin Console, out of date Java, white listing related issue(s). Other reasons for the Admin Console to lose connection is (IF) there are socket connections which have lots of inbound traffic to the ISY Series Controller. Lastly, when there are lots of active programs running this can also cause the controller to appear to be slow or none responsive.
  8. I would humbly suggest you use a personal SMTP address instead of the *Default* one being offered by UDI. As its been known to be over loaded, down, etc. Most folks create a dedicated GMAIL account just for the ISY Series Controller. Doing so ensures this SMTP address has only one goal and that is to send alert messages.
  9. Hello Orest, It seems you aren't having much luck as of late with some of the hardware on hand. If the leak sensor does not trip / blink at all when placed in a plate of water. Its best you send it back for a RMA via cross dock so you can receive one right away.
  10. Some of the units will require you place it in a body of water as simply dabbing the metal feet doesn't always illicit the correct response.
  11. Hello Orest, Is your controller a 99 or 994 Series Controller?
  12. I don't believe the diagnostic keypad has as much relevance given the latest hardware offers many of same LED feed back.
  13. Hello Orest, Can you update the ISY Series Controller to the latest official firmware: http://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/19162-release-451-is-now-official/ Once done can you try to add the new device back in using both methods and let us know the results?
  14. Hello Orest, If you have completed the hard reset and the device still comes up as a Trigger Linc perhaps its defective and needs to be replaced. Can you follow the steps outlined by Stu one more time and see what happens when you try to add the device back? For the sake of asking can you also install fresh batteries to the unit.
  15. Hello Orest, Can you please confirm in the Admin Console that both the UI & Firmware are the same: Help -> About
  16. The device should be in a slow blink - fast blink indicates multi-unlink.
  17. Hello, On average for low traffic areas exceeds 18-24 months. For high traffic areas with hits of 60-80 detection count the lowest has been 14 months but average 15-16 months normally. The brand in use is EBL but should be noted this product has extreme variability and quality control issues. I bought them knowing it was going to be a huge gamble but they were intended as a test bed and proof of concept for a few short / long term projects I had underway. I used them in a 25 foot plus PTZ mounted camera system which monitors the perimeter of the grounds. It was connected to a solar array with a charging circuit I built. That battery served me well for about 3.5 extreme cold winters in the north. The battery has now been replaced with a super capacitor which is tied to the solar array. As a back up the system is connected to a mini relay to power it via a modified POE power supply. This was added in as a measure of fail over in case the battery / make shift PSU exploded while in operation. All of the parts are enclosed in a metal insulated project box to contain fire and debris. One might ask why? [emoji848] As I stated extreme quality issues were seen and I had several 9 volt cells explode with great fan fair! [emoji35] Thus the need for fire / debris protection. ☹️[emoji31][emoji17] The cells that work have been running perfectly fine for about 4-5 years now though. Please keep in mind the Insteon MS is not intended to be installed and used in extreme weather. The fact it has survived 7 plus years up on a poll is impressive. The fact the battery exploded could have been a combination of extreme heat so I can't really blame that specific incident with the maker. However many of the batteries were wired backwards and upon charging exploded in a sealed chamber I placed them in. [emoji58] For the average person I would probably say go with name brand companies even if they offer lower AH. Full disclosure I received these batteries as a test sample from a vendor for the purpose of real world testing. I honestly can't say I would buy the product or recommend them to others in this forum though. 18. I have to gather there was some kind of alignment issue as all of the text is slanted and off center? This is my biggest fear and would probably drive me crazy and know I would probably go through a few blank chicklets until it came out perfect.
  19. There are quite a few 3rd party devices that monitor dedicated outlets. Some offer just a LED and siren, whereas others will send an alert to the end user of the very same. Given your reply above it sound like the *Creative Wiring* still poses an issue . . .
  20. I would suggest you set it to query every hour then use the second program to confirm with the ISY Series Controller that its not responding. For example if this circuit was monitoring a critical load like a fridge / freezer. Having the system query every hour is well in the safety margin of keeping the contents cold. You can certainly query the device sooner but this can impact the Insteon network and the controller itself if there are lots of other over lapping programs running at that same time. Regardless, all of the above is simply a band aid and not a final solution to the problem. If the GFCI is tripping its either because there is a real fault condition present. Or the GFCI needs to replaced due to being old or impacted by Insteon signals which has been seen a few times over the years. The easiest thing to do is replace the GFCI outlet and see what happens . . . If the new unit trips you narrowed it down to two possibilities which are: There is a real world condition that needs your attention - or the Insteon signal is causing a nuisance trip.
  21. If you're serious about this endeavor and wish to still use the ISY Series Controller as the main hub for your Insteon network. You can perform a search in this forum where there is a link to a company that sells and modifies existing 220 / 50 Hz Insteon HUB's to be used as a PLM. Also, it should be noted in this forum also there is a thread that offers the steps to integrate 2245 Insteon HUB's to operate in parallel.
  22. The Insteon Motion Sensor (MS) sends out only one low battery alert message while the existing battery is in place. It should be noted one of the missing capabilities of the MS is that the voltage level of the battery can also be obtained. It would be really great to see 5.XX support this missing feature which is outlined in the API EDOC.
  23. 4. Just to clarify if you purchase the network module this is a one time investment. Having that will allow you to interface with IFTTT and other cloud based / network devices & services. Also, if you invest in a RPi there are at least two programs that will allow you to interact with the Amazon Echo without the need to subscribe to the ISY Portal Service. If you're technically inclined , eager to learn, and have time. This is a good option while learning a new skill set. Having said all of this - The ISY Portal Service offers a plug & play approach and present and future features that add great value to your HA network. Also in a round about way it helps support UDI as a company in offering a small income stream. ========================= The highest calling in life is to serve ones country faithfully - Teach others what can be. Remote reboot

Actually no - I said I have no issue with their gear and haven't ever had a hardware failure or warranty related issue. Every technical question I have sent into their support line has been answered in a timely fashion and with factual information. The very fact someone answers the phone doesn't mean a hell of beans to me. When the person on the other side of the phone is not prepared to help me in a meaningful way. If people like to be jerked around and offered zero warranty support - I suppose DLI would be a great vendor to deal with! Otherwise my personal experience(s) and comments stand with respect to their service after the sale support. There's a reason why the device is on hardware 7 release - because it took them five generations to get the bloody thing right and sort out the incessant failure rates of the Ethernet card! Even that is debatable because even the latest revision appears to have the same hardware. Ultimately, it doesn't really matter to me what method the company uses for communications. What does matter is having the ability to determine root cause and offer either a break fix or resolve the issue in a timely manner.
