Help with programming
ronbo, The reason is that your Alarm_Disarmed program is probably always true and thus the whole condition now depends on the time. Would you be kind enough to post your Alarm_Disarmed program? With kind regards, Michel

ISY-99 Log (Excel)
Clark, To answer your question, Excel should open regardless of the data you have. May I ask what version of Excel you have? In any case, depending on your Java's temp directory, the report itself is stored as UDReport.rtf. With kind regards, Michel

Problem w/ I-pod touch resolved
Hello Zellarman, Did you accept the Bouncy Castle certificate? This is the free encryption package. If not, please go to Java Control Panel, click on security, delete this certificate, and retry (make sure you close all your browsers before doing so). Yes, port 444 is fine ... if you cannot find anything for port 443, then I would assume that that port is also OK. If you can tell me what's the actual error on port 443, then I might be able to better help out. With kind regards, Michel Windows XP Nothing happens! I'm gonna bet this is my problem. When I select save, or not, nothing happens. I'm not prompeted to select where to save it or anything. When I select OK, the window just closes. Once, I was asked about the "bouncy castle" certificate, but that's it. since I was unable to successfully save the cert. I can't find it anywhere! NO, my ISY has never rebooted on any of my numerous tries to assign a certificate Despite not having any devices other than my router, laptop, and ISY, I still looked around on my router, to see if I could find anything on 444, this is what I've been going with since reassigning the port. Is that OK?

Zellarman, What operating system are you using (Vista)? If you don't mind, please: 1. Go to https://www.universal-devices.com/ssl/insteon 2. Click on Generate and Install a Self Signed Certificate 3. Choose the "Save" check box 4. When prompted, save your certificate 5. Then choose Install and Existing Certificate Please let me know if your ISY reboots. As far as port 443, it is the default port for HTTPS and that's why your computer drops it. Have you checked your router to see if any other devices in your network are port forwarded to 443? With kind regards, Michel

ISY-26 configuration/usage problems.
lutusp, I am so very sorry for the problems you've been having and I grant you that our documentation is not complete. And, thank you so very much for your feedback and providing the solution for Fedora 8. If you don't mind, I am going to copy your post into our Linux forum. I would sincerely appreciate if you could post Linux only related issues there: http://forum.universal-devices.com/viewforum.php?f=18. Thanks again and with kind regards, Michel

Problem w/ I-pod touch resolved
Zellarman, My comments below ... With kind regards, Michel As you already know, 2.6.1 is still in Beta; we are doing everything in our power to make it work with all phones. There have been reports that the HTML does not work on some phones (TREO/ipod) and we are resolving them. Second, I can't access my isy externally. I've followed Michel's instructions Does ISY reboot after this step? Would you be kind enough to telnet to your ISY, issue CWP, and let me know what ports it uses for both HTTP and HTTPS? see above.

Need Help Troubleshooting
upstatemike, We do most of that (trying to clean) but previously (and some comments came from you) it was requested that we do not simply get rid of links we didn't like. Restore is there to help going back to the last known state. We might consider it for a future release ... With kind regards, Michel

new ISY unit - did restore ISY; programs missing
Hello drw, I am so very sorry for the problem. Did you do a backup using release 2.6.1? If so, there was a bug in that release which didn't backup the programs. You can recover your programs but it all depends on how technical you want to get. With kind regards, Michel

Need Help Troubleshooting
upstatemike, If you chose the third option to bring the existing links, then any time you do a restore, those links that were imported and are not represented in ISY, will be written back. The only way to rectify this (quite painful) is to remove this device from ISY and then add it back using the first option. As far as factory reset not working, you only have to look at the first byte (not everything has to be 00 00 for it to be considered factory reset): if all the records start with 00 (high watermark) or 22 (unused) then you can consider the device reset. With kind regards, Michel

Can ISY compensate for lost switch transitions?
Hi Mark, I almost wrote a code snippet then I realized that I was basically doing what you had outlined! I shall think more ... With kind regards, Michel

Keypad load button as responder
Hi matt, If I understand you correctly, then, what you are trying to do is to make the Kitchen Keypad. On, which is already a controller for Kitchen On, a responder for Kitchen PM. Thus the message is correct since a button cannot be a controller for more than one scene. So, when you answer Yes to the message, all that would happen is that Kitchen Keypad On will be a responder in Kitchen PM. In what scenario would you have a button controller for more than one scene? With kind regards, Michel

Can ISY compensate for lost switch transitions?
Hello Mark, Apologies for a tardy reply. I don't think you can mostly because the PLM, just like the other linked devices, will not receive the signal and thus ISY will not know anything about the button presses. Unfortunately - and I am sure MikeB can give you more feedback - there's no solution to this problem (signals canceling each other out). With kind regards, Michel

Hi Matt, Please try Right Mouse Click->Add to Scene and let me know if you are still experiencing the same problem. Thanks and with kind regards, Michel

Could ISY Validate links in devices are correct?
Hi Mark, As far as I know, KPL 1.65 is already out and we have not had any problems/issues with it (nor reported). If the sticker says 2.75, then you have the latest and greatest with the extended memory! With kind regards, Michel

Could ISY Validate links in devices are correct?
Hello Mark, Again, I do apologize for all the inconvenience. 1. 1.6 KPLs have some very strange issues/behaviors that we basically had to put workarounds in our code 2. From our experience, if you are doing something physically to the switch that is being programmed, the outcome of the programming is not predictable. Also, depending on the PLM you have, you might experience scene related problems such as a device being turned on by a different scene, or not at all, failed requests, etc. In short, I strongly advise against any physical interaction with your devices while programming (or at least try to avoid as much as possible). With kind regards, Michel

Could ISY Validate links in devices are correct?
Hello markbrown1, First of all, apologies for the inconvenience. We do have 2.7 Beta (2.6.1) release which includes some workaround for the problems you are experiencing. If you are interested, send an email to support@universal-devices.com. Your suggestion is excellent and parts of it will be implemented in our diagnosis release some time in the future. With kind regards, Michel

Why does this keep setting Night scene????
Hello retsell, The problem is: You have a non-toggle mode and thus the Control will never ever change its state from Switched Off to anything else (after the first time you switch it off, the state will never ever change). Therefore, your condition amounts to evaluating whether or not it's day time. What you might want to consider is to make this button toggle and use the the program to set its status (you have to put the button inside a scene as a responder) when it's day time. With kind regards, Michel

Help With KPL Non-Toggle Mode
Hello Richard, My pleasure! I really do not know the answer to your question. From our perspective, we have been given a memory map and that's what we base our design on. With kind regards, Michel [quote name="morgan4x4 Looking forward to it' date=' many thanks! Curious, are the differences in KPL 1.6 behaviour variations in the 1.6 codebase, quality control issues, or diferences in hardware? Appreciate the fast response and assitance![/quote]

Accessing ISY remotely via HTTPS on a mobile device
Brignolo, We have verified that Windows Mobile/Treo crash the system. We are still trying to figure out what's causing the repetitive logon screen. As far as Admin Console on your mobile phone, well, I think it would be quite difficult till such time that there are much more powerful phones than those out there. But, of course, this may happen very soon! With kind regards, Michel I'm using a Treo 700wx with Mobile 6 and I am experiencing similar problems. Occasionally, things go well...for a while...then I get a IE error message. The Administrative Console in never accessible and it just gives me the UD first screen without login fields. At one point I was able to access the Device menu successfully with my Treo. So much so that I was able to turn several of my devices on and off in rapid succession. This resulted in locking up my 99i to the point where it dissappeard from my network all together. Recyling the power brought it back. I was able to recreate that phenomemon by repeating the fast off/on of some devices. The power cycle fixed it again. Now bear in mind that my PLM is undersized for my devices/programs/*lincs, etc. Tomorrow I will get the new upgraded PLM and will try to recreate the failure. More tomorrow. Joe P.S. It would be really nice to be able to access the Administrative Console with a smartphone.
