Release 2.6.2 is now available (RC1)
Hello All, Release 2.6.2 is now available and may be downloaded immediately. For fixes and enhancements, please peruse our beta forum at http://forum.universal-devices.com/viewtopic.php?t=930. You may also post your comments/questions and issues relating to 2.6.2 to the same forum. IMPORTANT 1. For those upgrading from release 2.6, please note that releases 2.6.1 and above will use default HTTP/HTTPS ports of 80/443 respectively. As such, before upgrading Disable Internet Access 2. If you have used bookmarks, please update them accordingly. If you have problems finding ISY, try http://www.universal-devices.com/27 3. If you are upgrading from 2.6.1, please make sure you export all your programs and store them in a safe place 4. As always, please take a backup of your ISY INSTRUCTIONS - Userid = isy - Password = autoupdate - For ISY-26, download the update from http://www.universal-devices.com/update ... nsteon.zip - For ISY-99i Series, download the update from http://www.universal-devices.com/update ... nsteon.zip - Login to Admin Console and choose Help->Manually Upgrade My Lighting and choose the file you downloaded in the previous step - Important: After upgrading, please close Admin Console, close all web browser processes, clear your Java cache, and reopen Admin Console. If there are any web browser processes running, the Java cache will not be cleared. KNOWN BUGS - On MAC, the system may hang intermittently when clicking on Program Details/Summary tabs - You can login to Devices/Scenes without entering any credentials IMPORTANT NOTE Beta versions 2.6.1 and 2.6.2 have a bug which prevents them from saving the programs during a backup. When using these versions, after doing a backup, please go to the Program Details tab, right-click on My Programs, and from the context-menu select Export in order to save your programs. Similarly, after doing a restore, select Import in the context-menu to restore your programs. This bug is corrected in beta version 2.6.3. Thanks and with kind regards, Michel

Homeseer plugin
JHimmel, We would consider any type of business relationship which enables us to sell more of our products. The only issue is that we do not have any one well versed enough in HS to take on this task and, thus, especially given our aggressive schedule it would be a little impractical to assign any resources. This said, however, we would be more than willing to HELP anyone who's going to take on this task. We have done this with other projects and the results have been great (some of which you will see soon). upstatemike, Thank you so very much for your response and feedback. Based on your post, it might be easier to add facilities to call HS routines (if they are URI based) from programs instead of creating a plugin. This way, ISY can initiate HS events and HS can initiate ISY events. You are 100% correct vis-a-vis getting out of synch with ISY. With kind regards, Michel

Anyone here using an apple computer and an airport extreme?
John, Hi. Just to clarify: you can always manually open ports on your router including Airport the instructions for which you will find here http://forum.universal-devices.com/viewtopic.php?t=635. You do NOT have to have a UPnP router to enable remote access. With kind regards, Michel

Latest version of PLM
Hello mohansen, Unfortunately, at the moment, the only way to figure out the PLM version is to reboot ISY while connected to Hyperterminal; PLM ID and version are listed when ISY starts communicating with the PLM. With kind regards, Michel

new ISY unit - did restore ISY; programs missing
Hello Mark, Unfortunately, if you have not exported the programs explicitly, there's no possible way of achieving this. I do take the blame as this should've been clearly communicated to all of our 2.6.1 coummunity. As a matter of fact, I am going to follow up this post with an email to all currently on 2.61. Again, please accept my sincere apologies and I wished there was something I could do to alleviate this. With kind regards, Michel

Problem w/ I-pod touch resolved
Zellarman, Quite interesting! Although you are using XP, what you're witnessing (at least up to now) is all Vista related (not having enough permission to save the file and thus never installing it). Have you tried this operation from another computer? With kind regards, Michel I successfully deleted the current certificates, (there's actually 2 in the java command console) and reloaded them, they take when I select generate and install, but I'm never prompted to aks where to save them when I select save, and the ISY never reboots. I still get the warning about the default certificate. I've also noticed now that the UDI administrative console hangs up when left unattended for a while. The tab remains on my screen but the window doesn't restore when selected, and I have to use control panel to close the unresponsive program.

Help with programming
ronbo, The reason is that your Alarm_Disarmed program is probably always true and thus the whole condition now depends on the time. Would you be kind enough to post your Alarm_Disarmed program? With kind regards, Michel

ISY-99 Log (Excel)
Clark, To answer your question, Excel should open regardless of the data you have. May I ask what version of Excel you have? In any case, depending on your Java's temp directory, the report itself is stored as UDReport.rtf. With kind regards, Michel

Problem w/ I-pod touch resolved
Hello Zellarman, Did you accept the Bouncy Castle certificate? This is the free encryption package. If not, please go to Java Control Panel, click on security, delete this certificate, and retry (make sure you close all your browsers before doing so). Yes, port 444 is fine ... if you cannot find anything for port 443, then I would assume that that port is also OK. If you can tell me what's the actual error on port 443, then I might be able to better help out. With kind regards, Michel Windows XP Nothing happens! I'm gonna bet this is my problem. When I select save, or not, nothing happens. I'm not prompeted to select where to save it or anything. When I select OK, the window just closes. Once, I was asked about the "bouncy castle" certificate, but that's it. since I was unable to successfully save the cert. I can't find it anywhere! NO, my ISY has never rebooted on any of my numerous tries to assign a certificate Despite not having any devices other than my router, laptop, and ISY, I still looked around on my router, to see if I could find anything on 444, this is what I've been going with since reassigning the port. Is that OK?

Zellarman, What operating system are you using (Vista)? If you don't mind, please: 1. Go to https://www.universal-devices.com/ssl/insteon 2. Click on Generate and Install a Self Signed Certificate 3. Choose the "Save" check box 4. When prompted, save your certificate 5. Then choose Install and Existing Certificate Please let me know if your ISY reboots. As far as port 443, it is the default port for HTTPS and that's why your computer drops it. Have you checked your router to see if any other devices in your network are port forwarded to 443? With kind regards, Michel

lutusp, I am so very sorry for the problems you've been having and I grant you that our documentation is not complete. And, thank you so very much for your feedback and providing the solution for Fedora 8. If you don't mind, I am going to copy your post into our Linux forum. I would sincerely appreciate if you could post Linux only related issues there: http://forum.universal-devices.com/viewforum.php?f=18. Thanks again and with kind regards, Michel

Problem w/ I-pod touch resolved
Zellarman, My comments below ... With kind regards, Michel As you already know, 2.6.1 is still in Beta; we are doing everything in our power to make it work with all phones. There have been reports that the HTML does not work on some phones (TREO/ipod) and we are resolving them. Second, I can't access my isy externally. I've followed Michel's instructions Does ISY reboot after this step? Would you be kind enough to telnet to your ISY, issue CWP, and let me know what ports it uses for both HTTP and HTTPS? see above.

Need Help Troubleshooting
upstatemike, We do most of that (trying to clean) but previously (and some comments came from you) it was requested that we do not simply get rid of links we didn't like. Restore is there to help going back to the last known state. We might consider it for a future release ... With kind regards, Michel
