Thanks Michel.

I am considering a Camera. What choices are there that are compatible with ISY and have a HD resolution, PTZ and Night vision?

I have the new Smart Meter, but my X10 devices are pretty much non-existent. I still have a few appliance modules and I do have a chime module but I haven't used that for a while. If you are a California resident you have the option of Opting Out with the utility from the Smart Meter, if these are a problem to you. This Opting Out option is not known by the public, in general. It seems that a lot of people are concerned about excessive radio waves caused by the additional metering device (not that I believe or agree). It is an argument that was forwarded to the California Public Utilities Commission (PUC). Clarence

I use to have a combination od X10 and Insteon but have since eliminated all of my X10 Switches. I held out and was till using the X10 motion detectors and I have decided that I will only use the Insteon Motion Sensors. I have had good reliability with the Insteon Motion sensors. Clarence

oberkc: Your input and insight are appreciated. You have done a lot of work trying and testing LED lights, not to mention the expense. Thanks for the input. Michel, can we have a separate posting for this topic? Clarence

There is another consideration that I think that is overlooked in using dimmable LED lamps with dimmers. Some dimmers need to have at least a 25 watt load in order to function correctly. Having made that statement, I have successfully installed a single Phillips Dimmable 25 watt equivalent, actual 7 watt LED load. with my swicthlinc dimmer and it works just fine. I have tried some dimmable floods from Costco that don't work well. It can be a gamble and I don't know of a Knowledge base that has all of these answers. Maybe we should have a topic area where we can start pooling everyone's experiences with LED bulbs working with Insteon and ISY. Clarence

Just think... Every time a Smart LED needs to be replace, you have to add a new device. I realize that LED bulbs are supposed to last a while, but, no one knows for sure. If you are installing for a customer..... this could create future problems for you as an installer. Clarence

I am just wondering.... I haven't figured out why I would use the new light bulb. It still requires the use of a Keypadlinc or remote link to control it. Now, that is 2 devices - the light bulb and another device. I have been using some LED bulbs from Phillips that are dimmable and they or less expensive than the new bulb and a switch to control it. Don't forget that if you use this bulb in a lamp, people still tend to turn a lamp of at its switch and that will render the idea of a remote control lamp to be useless. I already have some table lamps that I have setup using a switchlinc installed in the smart home keypadlinc enclosure (Part # 2402WH) and these work fine. I am open to other view on this question. I know that his has come up in the past. What is the possibility that we can get more information from the iMeter Device? I would like to get the accumulative KW reading and place it in a variable so that I can get monthly totals. Just checking to see if there has been a change of heart for furthering the support of this device. Clarence

This will not upload to my ISY. The first time i received an error, and afterwards nothing happens when i try upgrading ( no dialog box or error message). Clarence -
Has anyone implemented the use of any X10 Surveillance cameras with the ISY? I would like suggestions for another (Not too expensive) alternative camera.

Yes, I did a successful restore from a backup last night... no problems. Clarence -
Thanks Andy. Next Question: Does initiating a Status, Responding in a program actually trigger the program to check on that device? Clarence
-
I noticed a "Status" condition, "Responding",that I didn't see before. What does "Responding" in the Status line do? Is there a list of new items included since 3.17? Clarence

I updated today. Looks good. I will test all of my functionality. Clarence -
jlamb, The i in the name of the generator indicates that it is an Inverter type of generator. This is the type of information that I was interested in hearing about. The Inverter generators seem to present a lot cleaner 60 htz power. I am glad to see that the Insteon signals don't have problems with these types of generators vs, regular generators. Thanks for the information, Clarence.

I was one of the folks caught by the fierce winds in Southern California. Our power went out on Wednesday evening Nov. 30th. We just came back up tonight at 5:00 PM. In order to save my freezer contents I went out and bought a stand alone generator. I was able to save my Freezer contents but no much from the refrigerator freezer. I actually back-fed my Main Panel with the generator and was able to eliminate the extension cord debacle and this allowed me to selectively pick and choose what iI wanted to run. I did notice that all of the electronic dimmers including the Insteon switches really didn't like the power from the generator. I had a lot of communications errors and some random lighting spiking. I realize that generators are somewhat crude 60 cycle sources and anyone who is considering a backup generator needs to consider this in there planning. I wonder if the newer Inverter equipped generators have the same problem. I anyone out there has any experience with the newer Inverter equipped generators I would appreciate any feedback. They are now being manufacture by many companies including Honda - Honda EU2000I Thanks, Clarence

Good Program. You might want to include the Low battery Trigger. I would also consider putting a counter variable so that you can see the number of triggers that happened....this is especially for the Low Battery Trigger. Clarence
-
why not trigger an Integer Variable with the Low Battery event. That way the value will remain even with a reboot. Clarence
-
I may change some of my state variables to integers. I need to evaluate all of them. I do use some state changes as triggers so I guess that if they are Integers, I will also assign their respective State variables also. Thanks, Clarence

OK, I changed my programs. I actually added a separate Delay Program that is fired from the Control Change rather than the Status. If ( Control 'Motion Sensors / Closet / Closet Motion Sensor-Sensor' is switched On And $s_Is.SleepTime is 0 And $s_ClosetOveride is 0 ) Then Run Program 'Closet Day Motion Delay' (Then Path) Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') If - No Conditions - (To add one, press 'Schedule' or 'Condition') Then Set Scene 'Scenes / Closet Motion' On Wait 1 minute Set Scene 'Scenes / Closet Motion' Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') This seems to work well. I guess I need to stop trying to consolidate too many programs into a single program.
