The echo does have Bluetooth receiver, I have streamed to it from my phone. But this is really a forum about using the Amazon Echo with the ISY, which I don't think the OP has, so should probably go to Amazon for help. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

Is it possible to make an ISY scene behave like a device?
Jimbo.Automates replied to fasttimes's topic in UD Portal
The cost of adding this ability to ISYHelper, was not much, and the benefit of a happy wife is priceless It's not used for huge scenes so I'm not concerned about the extra traffic. Sent from my Pixel C using Tapatalk -

Thanks Michel for the explanation, much appreciated. My comment was from past experience trying to ask for this capability. I look forward to understanding how multi protocol scenes will help with this issue! -
Is it possible to make an ISY scene behave like a device?

Wow Michel, sorry if I gave that impression that I was demanding this feature now. I have asked a couple times in the past and was told it is not possible due to how insteon works. I always discuss and make suggestions and never expect any current plans to be dropped. I will drop off the forum and not think about how to improve anything. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk -

Actually, that doesn't solve keeping the kpl is sync does it? If I say turn on group name to 20% the kpl controller won't come on? Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk -

Thanks, group is an option. But that is exactly what I am asking the ISY to support natively thru the portal. Or preferably with a rest command. Sent from my Pixel C using Tapatalk -

I'm not in the mood right now to hash it all over again. There are a few different scenarios and I'm busy Trying to watch NFL and NBA and enhance ISYHelper. It's been discussed a few times before. And gary, no need to post again after he did I got it. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk -

I am very confused on what you are trying to answer. I said I am aware why people don't like what I asked for, but are you trying to prove that to me again? Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk -

And please nobody lecture on why insteon doesn't work that way! I completely understand and appreciate and use that ability, but also want a way for it to work for what I am asking as well -
Is it possible to make an ISY scene behave like a device?
Jimbo.Automates replied to fasttimes's topic in UD Portal
I've asked for this many times but get denied "because insteon does not work that way". I want this because for example I have a lamplinc "floor lamp" that is controlled by a scene where a KPL button is the scene controller. So if I add the lamplinc to Alexa then I can fully control the brightness of the device, but of course the KPL does not come on when the floor lamp is on, so I can not turn off the floor lamp with the KPL. So instead I add the scene to Alexa so the KPL can be used to turn it off when Alexa turns it on. But now I can not control the brightness, expect with dim and brighten commands. This is the main reason I still use ISYHelper, because it allows setting all scene devices brightness levels directly when the scene is the main device thru Alexa. It could be done if UDI chose to, and make it an option to control a scene as a group. But insteon doesn't work that way... Sent from my Pixel C using Tapatalk -
No worries, sorry I can't think of a way for the Harmony to push an update any other way than to fake it out with a device thru the hue or WeMo emulator. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

Thermostat Advice for ISY: Z-Wave? EcoBee3? Honeywell? Trane?
Jimbo.Automates replied to prairiecode's topic in ISY994
Yes, I think my tranes are listed as neighbors, but the don't repeat secure messages, if I remember correctly, but I am not positive. I know the multi sensor will not foreword since it's battery operated. I don't have any of those other devices, and just rely on a aeon siren to repeat a secure messages for my locks. Thermostat Advice for ISY: Z-Wave? EcoBee3? Honeywell? Trane?
Jimbo.Automates replied to prairiecode's topic in ISY994
My trades work fine as repeaters to other tranes, but not sure if the work for schlage looks since those need the secure mode, so I used aeon sirens... Sent from my Pixel C using Tapatalk- 42 replies

Yes a node server can be done. I've started on a new ISYHelper that I plan to move into a polyglot. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

Does anyone make an Insteon announcement speaker/device
Jimbo.Automates replied to Bill Morrow's topic in ISY994
Yes that is pretty cool. Currently I use old Android tablets to speak pushover notifications sent by the ISY. But if this can send to chromecast I need to switch since I could send it to my Google Home's! Sent from my Pixel C using Tapatalk -
Thanks everyone for the compliments. Yes, Alexa and IFTTT control of one Harmony works very well. I'm currently using IFTTT for Google Home and it's been fine. But, when you have more than one harmony hub it's not possible, or is painful. I think the ISY integration could somehow happen in the Portal, and IMO, I don't see this ever happening directly in the ISY, although that would be nice. Here is my plan I hope to work on, but of course it requires a RPi. (or something to run the java/python code) 1. Run https://github.com/bwssytems/ha-bridge, why? because: - It keeps up with continual changes to the mostly undocumented Harmony and Hue API's - It has nice method for defining macros, so you can define a macro to change the channel to ABC - This macro can be set up to look like a Hue switch, so you can say Turn on ABC currently with Alexa or Google Home. - It has a pretty simple REST interface 2. Write a polyglot to interface with ha-bridge - This will be tricky, and require downloading the config to the ISY which is built on the fly each time the ha-bridge config is changed. I plan on working on #1 soon, and initially it will allow pulling the spoken properties from the ISY and create hue devices in ha-bridge, so it will replace ISYHelper's PyHue. And since you can define Hue devices from Harmony, it will replace PyHarmony as well. Once that is working, I'll start on #2 which will completely replace current ISYHelper Hue and Harmony functionality. I could do this without ha-bridge, but it would require a text or web-based interface which will be to much work, for me and/or each user. If anyone has better ideas on how to do this, or input on how it should be done, please let me know.

Doesn't answer the question. That allows you to send and receive IR between both devices? But how do you start a harmony activity? And can you control activities on multiple harmony hubs? Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
