I was just saying the IR from the harmony hub can be used to control the volume, which he obviously knows, and just wants a way to control it with Alexa, which I hope to be able to do sometime soon with ISYHelper or a harmony polyglot. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

That's what the harmony does, Stu. I hope to have time someday to move harmony control from ISYHelper into a polyglot node server which would make this easier. But have had almost no time the last month couple months to work on Polyglot. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

LED Strip light dimmer compatible with 2477D
Jimbo.Automates replied to Jimbo.Automates's topic in ISY994
Yes, I read the section on forward phase dimmers, but it doesn't really answer my question. The question was that they list 2 Insteon dimmers that they say are compatible with these transformers, but the 2477D is not specifically listed. So, can I safely assume it will be as compatible as the ones they list? -

LED Strip light dimmer compatible with 2477D
Jimbo.Automates replied to Jimbo.Automates's topic in ISY994
Thanks for all the details, but my wife will kill me if she can't control them with the switch. I want them to come on with motion like I currently already do, but at a dimmed level, then allow us to hit the switch to turn them all the way up. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk -
Can someone help me confirm if this power supply is compatible with the Insteon SwitchLinc Dimmer 2477D? http://www.armacostlighting.com/store/shop/12-watt-electronic-ac-dimmable-power-supply/ I assume it is because the compatibility list shows LampLink and MicroDimmer work? http://www.armacostlighting.com/store/electronic-dimmer-compatibility-list/ Also, if someone has a recommendation for better low wattage dimmer for LED strips I would appreciate it. I am going to replace 5 under-counter florescent's with LED strips and want the ability to dim them. They are currently hardwared with 14/2 romex thru the walls and I can't run low-voltage wire between them so I need 5 separate small, not crazy expensive dimmable power supplies. - Jim

My series II does not need the adapter. Even though the wall remote has a light and lock, it's still is a dry contact. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

Part of ISY Helper: http://forum.universal-devices.com/forum/118-isyhelper/

ISYHelper does #2 in the PyHue interface. While this isn't the "Insteon way" it's works perfectly. I have scenes that are really meant to be "groups" where I want all devices act together, but can also be controlled individually. For example, 2 bedroom lamps 'lamp a', and 'lamp b' in a scene called 'bedroom lamps'. So Alexa can set brightness of both lamps together, or independently. Makes sense to everyone, especially my Wife which is what counts. If I had to create specific scenes and tell her how to use them because that's "how insteon works", she would roll her eyes, and just not use it. This is probably the only reason I have not moved to the Portal.

Thanks everyone for the info on other cameras. I wish there was a camera closer to exactly what is being asked for. I need to study this further before I buy another camera. But if you want to control some cameras I just released this and hopefully can add other cameras https://tapatalk.com/shareLink?url=http%3A%2F%2Fforum.universal-devices.com%2Findex.php?/topic/18810-Polyglot-Camera-NodeServer&share_tid=18810&share_fid=23986&share_type=t Polyglot Camera NodeServer Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

The new Agave app for Android is great. It is very new so not perfect but the development is progressing pretty quickly and should be released soon or you can ask to test the beta. Android development for MobiLinc has not progressed in a long time, and is basically dead AFAIK. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

I have a working polyglot node server for older foscam's and currently working on adding newer HD foscam's which will hopefully use the onvif standard which will allow controlling many cameras. I hope to release the current version when I return from vacation. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

Yes, portal is great. But I still use ISYHelper emulator because it works with the Harmony hub as well. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

Also, I heard that someone is working on a node server for Sonos. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

OK, thanks for the confirmation. We use the bedroom Alexa to play music, so guess I'm stuck for now. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

This seems to be going in a circle ☺️ I think we all understand the value of sub-acccounts. But, sounds like the problem is you can not share prime music to the sub-accounts, which is a deal breaker for me if it is true. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

Not at my computer right now, but there is an info button on the portal that gives you the ISY URL to enter in the admin console finder window. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

The Harmony hub works great with ISYHelper https://tapatalk.com/shareLink?url=http%3A%2F%2Fforum.universal-devices.com%2Findex.php?/topic/18171-ISYHelper&share_tid=18171&share_fid=23986&share_type=t ISYHelper Sent from my Pixel C using Tapatalk

The instructions link to a document created by io_guy on these forums for setting up the RPi, and ISYHelper. Also, depending on the type of thermostat you choose, you may also need io_guy's NodeLink program running on a RPi as well. You will not get additional commands, Alexa only allows a small set of commands sent to a hue/wemo device, which is what ISYHelper emulates. More complex commands like you mention would only be possible with an Alexa skill adapter. Sent from my Pixel C using Tapatalk

Sorry I have n used ISYlib-python, I have only used PyISY in my ISYHelper program. But I have to say I am not completely happy with the way PyISY organizes the data structures, but it works great for me, after I pushed a few bug fixes and enhancements. It's document is pretty good to get you started, and I think I still have a couple small scripts I wrote as examples when I was learning it that I can dig up for you. I'll only address the ISYHelper questions. It originally existed to fill a gap to control ISY with Alexa before the portal, I still use it for that, but it sounds like the speed of the portal is acceptable by everyone now so I will probably try it again. But ISYHelper also supplies 2 way status between the ISY and harmony hub, which can not be done with ISY portal and ifttt, and direct control of any device from the ISY to the harmony, and direct control of harmony from Alexa without ifttt, It is also much faster than using ifttt where others have reported very long delays. It is a little learning curve, but a couple of others with no experience have helped to get the instructions cleared up so it should be smooth now. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

There are already 2 python libraries available that handle this.https://github.com/evilpete/ISYlib-python https://github.com/automicus/PyISY Sent from my Pixel C using Tapatalk

Sorry, "ISY Helper" is on old dead android app. "ISYHelper" is a python program to run on an RPi http://forum.universal-devices.com/forum/118-isyhelper/

With ISYHelper I have no issues with Alexa "turn on family room Tivo" or "turn on family room TV". Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
