  1. I thought Michel said the instructions were in the package
  2. Technically so does insteon
  3. Here we go again... You know much more than you realize
  4. I think you meant to quote the op. I already know the level is more than 35 devices
  5. I wouldn't believe marketing materials from a mfg about another
  6. No. You would just do a restore
  7. If you Google the 2413s owners manual, you'll find the pin out there which will allow you to make your own (if you don't have the cable). On the first page of this post (and other locations on this post), Michel stated the board would be USB with eisy.
  8. Its an all new company so they may start selling in other places such as amazon in the future once they can get their stock levels up to support 3rd party sales. While the changes wont happen overnight. They are showing that they're trying to get up and running full speed. If you feel more comfortable moving over to zwave, thats something you'll have to decide. It's not an endeavor you'd want to do for 1 or 2 pieces though. I use both insteon and zwave outlets. I consider insteon's to be much better. Eaton's outlets have better build quality but everyone elses quality pales in comparison to insteon's. There are no zwave dual receptacles.
  9. Whats the current direction? They're making new products. It takes time for contracts to be signed and products to be produced, shipped, arrive, and put into stock. While zwave is an option, it'll cost you a lot more to build out its infrastructure for 1 or 2 devices vs waiting for what you're looking for to come available (unless you need a lot more devices)
  10. There's your answer there 😀. Sometimes the simplest answer makes the most sense! My answer would be for the support that UDI offers. Regardless of expertise level, we will all need help at some point. While forums are a great resource, sometimes, you need direct support from someone and who better to turn to than the creator of a product? Regardless of how great HA could potentially be, that'll always be its downfall for me. Maybe it would be different if I were a tinkerer but I don't have time (probably a personality trait too) to use the forums to troubleshoot. The fact that I have to setup and manage an RPI (or computer) is too much for me. Id rather get a shiny new box in the mail and call it a day. Since you've already done that, your reasons are different than mine which is why I said its a personal choice. We all could give hundreds of reasons but if none fit you, its all a moot point.
  11. I'm assuming he's trying to compare the cost of setting up an rpi to use with HA vs buying an eisy; even though the op didn't say anything about the cost of devices being an issue.
  12. For me, a high rate of failure compared to others is a good indicator that the environment itself may be the issue. Since you've provided no details, we can't say for certain. While ge feels cheap, they generally last as long as other mfg.
  13. The need for any system is user based. Personally, I'll be upgrading one of my polisy's to the eisy. I have no interest in HA or any other DIY system. UDI has been great to me and supports what I need them to support (though I'm hoping they'll be able to support Ra3). In addition, I prefer knowing (and having) someone to reach out to for help should there be an issue. Their support is second to none. That matters more to me than an extensive list of supported devices that i probably will never use. Sometimes our needs and desires change over time which means we outgrow things we really like. Only you can answer that.
  14. I found this wiki page which details what to do. https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=Polisy:User_Guide
  15. https://www.universal-devices.com/product/zmatter-z-wave-matter-module-for-polisy-beta/ The posts above are about the enclosure for the board to use it as usb
  16. It's not a problem for me. The Node server potentially could. However, I'm referring to the built in controls that the isy has already
  17. I wish they would add an annual button to the Isy so it wouldn't take this amount of program. Just set the date range like normal and click. Then every year it triggers
  18. That hasn't been updated since the matter board isn't out yet. Those with pre orders should receive there's in the next few weeks. At that point, instructions will probably be updated for it. I suspect it'll be the same as from the 300 to 500 board. Backup and restore
  19. Go ahead and put my name on one
  20. I still don't see what the problem is. What does the board have to do with the eisy coming out? Would you not have ordered the board if you knew that? I assume you already have 2 polisy's which is why you ordered 2 boards so it would still work with them (the eisy as well) so there's nothing lost. Yes you found out about the eisy from reading the forums but had you not done so, nothing about your situation would've changed. Time and time again, these forums have shown that more information isn't always best. If someone chooses not to be engaged with their system, more information would probably cause greater issues than it solves for the few who may peruse the forum every so often and catch a sneak peek at future plans. Can you imagine if the email you received said: "Here's our new zwave/matter board." Works with polisy and our next gen system that will go on presale in November for a release sometime in 2023. We'll still be supporting your polisy so you don't have to upgrade to that unless you want to". How many emails and phone calls do you think they would've received from casual users vs. the couple of complaints on the forum about lack of information? There's a reason why companies don't talk about unreleased products. It's more of a distraction than anything else
  21. What are you talking about? There's no subscription to use the isy. Take the time to learn your system (especially if installing for others) and you'll know exactly what you're paying for. The ONLY subscription that you would pay for with UDI is the portal which gives you remote access to your Isy in addition to allowing you to connect ifttt, Google and Alexa. If you do not need any of those, then you do not need a portal subscription.
  22. The isy994 is discontinued so there wouldn't be updates. Reality is; it's a 10+ years old controller and support for it has ended (outside of security updates)...ditto for the PG2 version that you're running. You're complaining about a free unsupported product that's been discontinued in regards to rpi. The forums are a great place for support. The fact that you haven't posted about having issues or seeking help on here in 2 years is all on you nor can it be as difficult as you say....after all you found the time for your post but not ask basic questions. Direct support takes a couple of quick steps. I just signed up for a new account and it took less than a minute. If it's that hard then how important is it to you to receive executional care? Those steps are there to enhance your experience to help you....but they can't do that if you're not willing to help yourself. I've used every update since 5.xxx came out with minimum issues. Over time some stuff was broken due to bugs but subsequently fixed. In regards to update notifications, one just has to read. There's a notify via email button on the current release page which will email you anytime there's an update. No one is here to convince you to buy anything. Buy it because you want it and the ecosystem. If how they operate is not to your standards, then there are other systems out there...
  23. I don't understand it either. Most companies do not post their plans or strategy. Most things are assumed (such as with phones and TV's). Other "leaks" comes from reporters following FCC filings and insider leaks.... unfortunately UDI isn't big enough for that. UDI chooses to engage with their community on their forum which is where they drop their plans and upcoming devices. Those who choose not to frequent the forums will miss things while those who do; get the benefit of those sneak peaks. Things become all over the place because other people will create new posts all over the place with questions about what they've heard/read at which point UDI responds. News and announcements" are generally reserved for things one they become official.

  25. They do. That's why it was on presale before eisy. It can also work with eisy.
