I've tried "restore device" and on some of my devices but not all, I get this error. What is this trying to tell me and is there a reasonably simple solution? thanks, someguy

How would I know if the ISY was rebooting itself. It has been doing some odd things lately: I've found my landscape lighting on during the daytime a couple of times.

Here is the program: If - No Conditions - (To add one, press 'Schedule' or 'Condition') Then Repeat Every 15 minutes Set 'MasterBedroom-Thermostat' Query Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') I go to the program summary tab and right click on the program and turn "Run at startup" ON. Then I right click the program and click "Run (if)". The program continues to query the thermostat every fifteen minutes. Then, a day or two later, I return to the console and the program is no longer set to Run at Startup and the program is no longer running. Any ideas as to what is stopping the program from running and why the "run at startup" won't stay set to ON. (I'd also like to comment that I don't believe that my power has gone out at any time lately.) thanks, Someguy

problem solved. I was able to get it to connect. The reason that it "wouldn't connect" was that it was already connected. It is a beta unit and, surprisingly, they sent the same unit back to me, so when I tried to reassociate it with the ISY, nothing happened because it was already associated with it, unbeknownst to me. thanks Rand, Scott

I factory reset it and it still won't work. Here is something that is odd: sometimes when I try to link the Sensor to the ISY, the box comes up to show me what is happening, this happened before when I got this error. Today, no box pops up. I am using "Link Management" "New Insteon Device", putting in the address for it and selecting the "Device type". I put the Sensor in linking mode and click okay and the box disappears and nothing more happens. any ideas?

I'm not sure what you mean by powerline devices. My motion sensor is a beta unit, but another beta tester WAS able to get his to work with his isy-99i.

I am on 2.7.5 and I have my accesspoint right on top of the PLM. Still gives me the error. thanks, Someguy

Michel: I do not have a HomePlug. any other ideas? thanks, someguy

I am getting this same error. I've tried disbling the climate module and putting an access point on top of the PLM. I still get the error. Here is the curveball: I'm using a beta Motion sensor. Anything else I can try before I tell Smarthome that this is a bad motion sensor?

Here is the program called "Hearth Flashes Gym 1": If From 5:00:00AM To 10:00:00AM (same day) And Status 'Gym-1-Light by TV' is On And Control 'Hearth-7a-MotionSensor' is switched On Then Set 'Gym-1-Light by TV' Off Set 'Gym-1-Light by TV' On Disable Program 'Hearth Flashes Gym 1' Wait 1 hour Enable Program 'Hearth Flashes Gym 1' Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') I'm wanting the motion sensor to flash the light once and then not flash the light again for another hour. If the program diables itself, will it continue to run and then enable itself in an hour?

wow. great stuff. pretty complicated also. thanks for the info. I'm not sure I can think of a use for that in my current system, but it is always good to know what can be done.

sorry to hijack your thread, but I've never used "last run". how is it used? can you give a good example? thanks.

okay, I figred it out. Somehow my "vacation" folder got turned on and it was running a random event of turning lights on and off to simulate occupancy. can we delete this thread? just kidding. Someguy

At 3 am, while we are asleep, my wife wakes and looks at me and says "What are the lights doing on?" I reach over to my bedside insteon switch and turn them off. When I look in my ISY Program Summary, the only thing that ran at 3am was the QueryAll program. Why would the QueryAll program turn on my lights? Is this a bug? (It is stuff like this that could end home automation at my house) Someguy

I tried using: https://xx.yy.zz and it connects to my windows home server which is nice, but I don't want to talk to him. I tried using: https://xx.yy.zz.1 https://xx.yy.zz.443 and neither of them work either. Any more ideas?

I have this same problem my isy doesn't show a port. here is what my info looks like when I view it: I have tried these: http://6x.2y.1zz.140:443/0/x http://6x.2y.1zz.140:443/0/p https://6x.2y.1zz.140:443/0/x https://6x.2y.1zz.140:443/0/p where the x, y and zz are numbers that correspond to my IP address. I have this port forward set up: where am I going wrong. (please note that I am trying to access this from within my home network to test it but want to use this while I am out of the house in the future, if I can get it to work.)

I don't see a plate to email, just a personal message link. I can't attach a file there, can I?

I have confirmed that my isy is working by using the admin console to turn on and off some lights... all of my lights have a blank status. When I click query, either nothing happens or I get "request failed". Usually nothing happens. Any ideas? running 2.7.2 It may have worked itself out by the morning...

I have been having problems with my weatherbug climate module: The initial location that I selected to get data from was doing fine for a couple of weeks and then it aparently was deactivated. Then I switched to another one and the data came up wrong. It was reading that the light was 7 when it was clearly about a 50 (from previous experience). I came home from work today and the outside lights were on, which is only the case when the light is less than 10 or so. I went to the weatherbug module and have selected five different locations and none of the data changes. to be more specific, my numbers read this: Temperature: 59.2 °F High Temperature: 68 °F Low Temperature: 51 °F Feels Like: 59 °F Temperature Rate: -2.3 °F Humidity: 64 % Humidity Rate: 3 Pressure: 30.16 mb Pressure Rate: 0.01 mb/h Dew Point: 47 °F Wind Speed: 7 mph Average Wind Speed: 6 mph Wind Direction: E Average Wind Direction: E Gust Speed: 19 mph Rain Today: 0 mm Light: 0 Light Rate: 0 WeatherBug™ RSS for any location that I set it to (and yes, I do press "save" and I have the polling interval set at five seconds. Is there a problem with the module or the data connection?

here is an idea: use the insteon thermostat adapter, and a remote sensor that is sealed somehow.
-
I believe that the insteon motion sensor has the ability to be set to "On only" so that it never sends an "off" command. With some thought, this could potentially be used to accomplish what you are saying. I have the same problem: my basment has a motion sensor that turns on the lights and when the wife turns it off at the switch, the lights will only turn back on when you have waited out the motion sensor. This usually isn't a problem, but it can be if you return to the basement very quickly.

I know what regression means from a psychological standpoint, but what does it mean in this context?

I am using windows vista, unfortunately, and version 2.7.2. While I am using other software, if the ISY runs a program, one of two things happens: A-a small pop-up status window comes up, the bar moves left to right and it vanishes. This takes about 2-3 seconds B-the admin console windows comes to the front and the same status window does the same thing. When "A" happens, I don't notice it. When "B" happens, it can be very frustrating. Is this a bug or can this be changed?
-
When I go to the admin console, on the "main" tab, I click on the thermostat on the left and the readout to the right has "current state" "setpoint" and "humidity". The readout for "setpoint" reads the last change that was made to the setpoint, but if the last setpoint change that was made was to the "cool setpoint", it will show that number, even if the thermostat is in "heat" mode. Would it be possible to have four readings ("current state", "heat setpoint", "cool setpoint", "humidity")? or does the insteon adapter for the thermostat not support this.
-
Here is my current idea. Anyone see a problem with this? I have the ISY set the cool setpoint AND the heat setpoint at various times. An example would be to set the main part of the house to 65 degrees heat setpoint AND 75 degrees cool setpoint when that part of the house is not in use. Then use a motion sensor to change both of these setpoints to better numbers when the area is occupied. I could then MANUALLY switch the thermostat from HEAT to COOL or vice-versa (in the fall or spring) when I feel it is necessary. Another option would be to put some kind of a parameter that changes from heat to cool if the inside temp gets greater than some certain temp and vice-versa. Using this strategy, I am changing the cool settings regularly in the winter (and the heat settings in the summer) but this information isn't accomplishing anything because the thermostat is only in cool (or heat) mode. One of the things that I am trying to avoid, during the spring and fall, is to be heating the house during the night and cooling it during the daytime.
