  1. On one sub-account, I always get a message indicating, "Warning The ISY skill is not linked to your portal user profile. Please go to your echo app, enable the ISY skill, and link the skill with this user profile," but the skill is linked and everything works as expected. Repeating the following instructions is always successful, but the warning still occurs. Login to the Echo app Click on this link
  2. I'd like to be able to print a lost of spokens and the device/scenes/progams each controls other than page by page printouts.
  3. That's correct. The spoken words in the desk top no longer function since the advent of the portal. What do you mean by, " The ISY does not come up in the Connected home list ..." Without enabling the ISY link the Echo has no control.
  4. The ISY and Hub can be used together if you have some understanding about the Insteon protocol (e.g, scenes). The ISY prefers to be the only Insteon manager and will not be aware of any scene changes you make using the Hub. That may lead to unexpected results unless you make the same changes using the ISY. Another reason for using the ISY exclusively is that the Echo does not accept scenes nor KPL secondary buttons. You can create Echo groups, but that ignores any preset On-levels (i.e., all devices turn on at full brightness). Some devices are only partially controllable. For example, if you ever install a FanLinc, only the light can be controlled from the Echo, not the fan. The ISY allows controlling scenes. Any device that can be controlled by the ISY can be controlled by the Echo when using the ISY portal and skill. The portal does have a bi-annual $49 fee, but that includes secure off-site control. No set up is needed. The portal also integrates IFTTT with Insteon.
  5. Does the device appear in the Connected Home list? Did you enable the ISY skill? Try, "Alexa, turn the <spoken_name> on."
  6. I'm not too annoyed by the sub-accounts considering that they need be set up only once. More restrictive is the five account limit. BTW, if you have two (different account) Echos within earshot, then it's best to give each a different name or one of the Echos will reply that the device doesn't exist in [account_name]'s profile.
  7. My Lighting, click on Address to sort all of your devices by Insteon ID. Tools > Diagnostics > PLM Info/Status will give you the Insteon ID of the PLM.
  8. OK, it's OK
  9. Actually any duple product, sum or difference. Even a dividend, but not a divinity. Link? Thanks
  10. But two negatives, when multiplied, make a positive.
  11. Anything even close to 915Mhz can interfere, depending on how the signal is modulated. Z-Wave uses 908.42Mhz and doesn't interfere. Some cordless phones in that range interfere, some don't. Baby monitors are especially notorious.
  12. The OP indicated that house temperature is controlled by a wired thermostat.
  13. You can use a repeat statement. If that works, lower the number or repeats, if not the raise the number. If From Sunset + 30 minutes To 10:00:00PM (same day) Then Repeat 5 times Set Scene 'Front Lighting' On Else Wait 30 minutes (Random) Repeat 5 times Set Scene 'Front Lighting' Off
  14. The linked to magnetic contact switch needs to be fairly close, less than 1/2" for reliability.
  15. If you're only interested in data from the basement, then do not link the 2441ZTH the wired thermostat. You can add the thermostat in the same manner as any other Insteon device. The scenes you create depend on your need, not the thermostat, for example, I use Cool Ctl, but don't have a use for Heat Ctl. The battery-powered thermostat does not respond to a query, so you can't use that to update/display the temperature, but if your goal is to be notified if the data is above and/or below set points, then programs can handle that. OTOH, if you have a need to know the actual values, then use a wired thermostat powered by a 24VAC power supply.
  16. Yes, anything external to ISY, other than devices, is an enhancement. The Echo in not needed at all, therefore it's an enhancement. All the modules are enhancements. If they were not, then every one would need them.
  17. 1. Any dry contact switch can be used as an I/O Linc sensor. 2. The ISY can send you a message each time the sensor turn on or off. The time is included in the message. There are more sophisticated recorders. Teken will most likely post..
  18. A 2-gang box takes a little bit of effort, but not nearly as much as a 3-gang box. I'll get back to 4-gangers. Do you mean that the Administrative Console won't turn the light off--or worse--you can't turn them off manually?
  19. If you look around your home, you may find a place or, better yet, two that are appropriate for an On/Off. When you're ready to automate those locations, order dimmers and swap
  20. Enable and Disable can do that. The ISY already has the ability to do that with devices and programs. But, not with scenes nor portals.
  21. Why not add devices directly to the Echo and have it write programs based on verbal commands. The only difficult I see is that the program will do what you said, not what you meant
  22. What programming does best is a repetitive task without having to take all the steps. In this specific situation, it's turning of the light after a specified time. Because this is a voice controlled task, the less lengthy the phase, the easier it is to accomplish. With lots of processing power and AI, one could state, "turn off the light in ten minutes." Or, with a program, one need say only "turn off the light."
  23. Izzy commands can also be compacted, so "Alexa, ask Izzy media room lamp on" is only two more words. BTW, I'm taking advantage of sub-accounts, so "lamp on" is adequate if I'm in the same room with the Echo. "Media room lamp on" is needed only if I'm in a different room with a different Echo.
