I use programs to control window coverings because they are controlled by a network resource, the same as yours. So no, there is no native support. That's recisely why you need the network module. I had been using on and off for voice control (Amazon Echo) until the smartphone Alexa app was released. The app allows using what you want to say with the exception of certain reserved words. Using the app I can create statements such as, "Alexa, open the verticals," or Alexa, close the kitchen shade." I believe that you can do that with Google commands, too.

I'm in the same position with automation, so I readily agree with you that more automation is not needed. But, I believe that you'll agree that your start with automation was more due to that you could do it than because it was a necessity. And from that start, your automation network grew because you enjoyed both doing it and using it. That you actually bothered to control you TV by voice suggests that there's a lot of fun awaiting. Ahh, an advantage of retirement. I'm so busy now that I wonder how I had time to work

Success at last. Thanks to kingwr (post #10) for indicating that multiple accounts aren't really needed for what I wanted to accomplish. And special thanks to all those who added the most important piece of information (mentioned by kingwr, but not until post #51)--that a smartphone Alexa app group is required.

So, it's not actually the TV you're controlling, but an add-on. I asked because Sony TVs are now Echo compatible. Not if your hands are full and you need to turn on a light. But the main advantage of voice control is, IMO, fun, not unlike HA. But, you are correct. Like HA, there is some effort required. I find the effort not just worth it, but fun as well. I rarely, if ever, use a switch or button. I don't even remember the last time I used one of my six 2440 RemoteLincs

As an end user, my concern is not the implementation of a voice notification, but the delivery. For instance, for some reason I miss the voice message (e,g., taking a shower, in the yard, loud music). The Echo device offers colors to deliver a message with a particular color indicating a specific message. IMO, that's certainly a requirement.

OK, the smartphone app it is. Thanks to all who knew that and advised accordingly. The WAF dictates that I wait until the spouse is out and abut

oberkc, which TV? The Echo syntax is relatively straight forward, you can say, "Alexa, turn the light on," or "Alexa, turn on the light," both are equally effective--for the most part. On occasion one sequence won't work, but the other will. You can even eliminate "the." in your command (i.e., "Alexa, turn on light.") Also, using "open' and "close" instead of "off" and "on" will work with one program and not with another. No rhyme or reason why that occurs. But you can fix that by using the smartphone app, so it's really no longer a concern. I have a lot of programs that have no conditionals, mostly for control of devices that require a program, such as controlling window coverings. "On" runs Then and "Off" runs else. With the smartphone app, I can use open and close. You can use Izzy to run a program with conditionals or you can have Then run the program.

kingwr, does it matter if I use the compute app or the smartphone app to create the groups. The two are similar, but they're not identical.

Did you update the MobiLinc settings so that it's aware of the new PLM?

Maybe I haven't been clear. I want to go into the bedroom and tell the Echo device to turn on the light. I don't want to specify the room name (i.e., bedroom), only tell Alexa to turn on the light-period. Specifically, "Alexa, turn on the light." No other words at all, only, "Alexa, turn on the light." I also want to use exactly the same command in any of several rooms and have the light in the room I'm in turn on. no other lights, only the light in that specific room. In the dining room, "Alexa, turn on the light," affects only the dining room light. In the living room, "Alexa, turn on the light," turns on the living room light, no other light in the house is affected. The expression used in each room is identical, the only difference is which room's light gets turned on. I can do that now using multiple accounts. I cannot do that using only one account. I don't want all lights in a group turned on, only a single light in a particular room. Again, I do not want to use a different expression in each room and I do not want to specify which room's light to turn on. MWareman, neither the computer app not the smartphone app allows creating a group without a name. What should I name each group without having to specify that group's name in the command?

It's unlikely that the problem will ever see a solution as the 2440 RemoteLinc has been discontinued somewhat more than a year ago, maybe even longer. Considering time constraints, in particular, improving current features and adding new ones, no one wants to spend their time working on something that's no longer available. All but one of my 2440 RemoteLincs shows the dreaded 1011, but they do function

The Echo has a green ring when someone is calling you if you set that up giving each Dcho a cell phone number (no cell phone cost, it uses the cloud). If you have Prime, then a yellow ring indicates that a package has been delivered or is on it's way to you on that very day. Orange indicates that you're setting up the Echo, violet shows that there's a WiFi problem and the ring is red when the microphone is turned off.

I love both including the both SH forums, this forum and the Sunday Times, both east and west coasts.

OK, I surrender. I can create any number of groups (actually, three; one for each room that has an Echo on the same account). When I'm in the kitchen, I want to be able to say, "Alexa, turn on the light," and have only the kitchen light turn on. I can do that, but selecting a group as an action is not an option. Also, when I'm in the dining room, I want, "Alexa, turn on the light," to turn on only the dining room light. Can't be done. The smartphone app won't allow another routine with the same command. I also don't see any way to assign a particular command to a specified Echo device (e.g., one of the three I added), so only that Echo controls a particular device, scene or group.

If you are not sure which program caused the problem, then disable all the programs (if you have a lot, then it's tedious, if you have many, many more, then disable half if the programs). Remove power from the ISY. Plug in the PLM, wait about 10 or more seconds and power up the ISY. Everything OK. If so, then the difficulty is a program. If you disabled only half the programs and run into the same problem, then repeat the procedure, disabling the other half and enabling those that were disabled. You'll need to keep track of what's what. How is it going?
-
Unplug the PLM. The ISY should start in safe mode. Does it?
-
The "Driveway Coach Lites Sunset Trigger" program will run only if the 'Driveway-Opened' changes from not off to not on. The program won't run if the status doesn't change, regardless of the time constraints.
-
The ISY only need to be within range of the Harmony hand held remote or within range of the Hub, which in my experience, is nearly anywhere in the room or within range of the included IR blaster. So did I until I discovered that you can assign only one function to a button. That means that if you assign lights to the "Watch a Movie" button, then it will control the lights, but it will no longer function as a "Watch a Movie" button. I ended up assigning the red disk to dimming the lights and the white rectangle to restoring the lights.

Set buttons G and H to non-Toggle On. Add button G as a controller of scene Single_Shot Add button H as a controller of scene Double_Shot Add the ApplianceLinc as a reponder to both scenes. Mazzer-Grinder-single shot If Control '8x CB-A--LivingCeiling / 8x CB-G--Mazzer-single-shot' is switched On Then Set 'Mazzer' On Wait 17 seconds Set Scene 'Single_Shot' Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Mazzer-Grinder-double shot If Control '8x CB-A--LivingCeiling / 8x CB-H--Mazzer-double-shot' is switched On Then Set 'Mazzer' On Wait 26 seconds Set Scene 'Double_Shot' Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action')

Are you using ISY v3 skill? Is so, then you cannot turn off a scene. So, for each scene that you want to turn off, create a program where the Then statement turns the scene off. The On routine turns the scene on--no change there. The Off routine turns the program On (which turns the scene off). Too, v3 does not allow turning a program off. So I added a new program where the Else statements are not Then statements, for example to control the verticals, I now have two programs as follows: Kitchen Close This is the original program. It, too, is unchanged. "Then" runs when you turn the program On, Else never runs. Alexa, close the shade. If - No Conditions - (To add one, press 'Schedule' or 'Condition') Then Resource 'KT Kitchen Close' Else Resource 'KT Kitchen Open' KT Kitchen Open This is the added program. On runs "Then." Alexa. open the shade. If - No Conditions - (To add one, press 'Schedule' or 'Condition') Then Resource 'KT Kitchen Open' Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action')

Question for people with Motion Sensors, Hidden Door Sensors, Smoke Bridge
stusviews replied to OverloadUT's topic in ISY994
Same here. None of my Open/Close sensors, leak sensors, hidden door sensors or (old) Motion sensors show the suffix you highlighted.
