Although it may be too bright, set up a strobe to do the blinking. One On at the beginning and one Off at the end.

I was a construction electrician for several decades. One of the first things that you learn is to never pull a plug straight out, always rock it a bit (unless it's really loose in which case an adjustment is needed for a firmer fit).

See my response where you posted on another forum.

Now, do I really want to re-install HouseLinc? And find an older PLM that'll work? Hmm, I guess memory is as close as I want to get

Create a program with a From and To time (If). Add the mode and the temperature (Then). Do that for each schedule you want. The setting will not be written to the thermostat. If you want the setting written to the thermostat, then you need to do that at the thermostat. You can copy the setting from day to day, so it's all not that difficult. Any program you create with the ISY will override the the thermostat settings, that's why I do both. Programming the thermostat itself only needs to be done once, but you can alter ISY programs as needed.

Redundancy is really good for any critical application. One method of alert is good, two methods is better, more than two is best. I use that strategy even for some non-critical situation where feasible and the cost is not great

Which post claimed that. I see one that indicates that you can only do internal programming from the thermostat. The same post also says that all programming can be done from the ISY. I do both. I set up schedules on the thermostat and I also use programs to change those internal setting as the need arises. I also have a button that turns off the thermostat when we leave and restores the settings when we return. Our Echobee thermostats do that automatically. Honeywell thermostats don't. The problem we had with Honeywell WiFi voice thermostats was that they responded at various time unexpectedly without being asked. Somewhat disconcerting. I haven't tried Honeywell Z-Wave thermostats, but I have no complaint about their conventional thermostats except that they lacked off-site control. Honeywell makes dozens of thermostats. Which do you have in mind? BTW, I'll mention again since you already have the Insteon thermostat. you can program it internally, you can program it exclusively using the ISY or you can do a combination of both
-
What response caused you to change your mind? And which Honeywell thermostat? Not all are ISY compatible? I know of none that are Insteon compatible, do you have a link?
-
I do both, keeping in mind that programs won't function if the ISY fails or develops a problem, plus programs are easy to create on-the-fly.
-
Have you added the thermostat to the ISY? Virtually all features can be adjusted using ISY programs, times, modes, set-points, etc.. Have you created any programs at all using the ISY?

Me, too

Cannot determine Insteon Engine
stusviews replied to Michaelv's topic in INSTEON Communications Issues
Being in another room does not guarantee that the outlets are not on the same circuit, especially if the rooms are adjacent to each other, most especially if their back-to-back on the same wall. The only way to determine if they're on the same circuit is to turn off the circuit breaker for either one device. If the other device loser power, than they're on the same circuit. -
Create a scene adding all the lights that you want to control as responders only. Name the scene "basement." Add the scene to the portal. Then run the Alexa app discover command. Done. BTW, "turn on basement" will turn all the lights added to the scene on.

How to multiple houses, multiple ISY and multiple Echo?
stusviews replied to fryfrog's topic in Amazon Echo
That's precisely what multiple accounts overcomes. When I ask Alexa to turn on the light, only the light in the room I'm in turns on. If I'm in the living room and want to turn on the dining room light, then I need to specify "dining room." But not if I'm in the dining room, just asking for the 'light" is adequate. Just for convenience, "dining room light" works, too. The only current difficulties are the limits of five portal accounts and four wake words. However, if all the Echo devices on one account are not within earshot of all the Echo devices on a different account, then the same wake word is not an obstacle. In our situation, the bedroom and living room fulfill that condition, so both use the same wake word Edit: typos corrected. -
I had that happen a few hours ago. I logged out, waited a while (actually I busied myself elsewhere), logged back in and Notification opened. I hope you experience the same success

How to multiple houses, multiple ISY and multiple Echo?
stusviews replied to fryfrog's topic in Amazon Echo
I just remembered that you can add more than one ISY to the portal which does require a separate sub-account and, currently, a separate Amazon account. Are your ISYs on the same LAN? -
I've not seen as much praise for any other off-site app on this forum as I have for MobiLinc. Have you tried the . Wes is very responsive. OTOH, nothing beats the ability to control IP cameras link as capably as a dedicated IP camera app does. I realize that one app is more convenient, but in this case one size does not fit all

I don't see anything that you're missing that would cause that message. But, where are you seeing , "These Scenes and Programs say they are connected via 'Universal Devices' ".

How to multiple houses, multiple ISY and multiple Echo?
stusviews replied to fryfrog's topic in Amazon Echo
Two ISYs, two portal accounts and two Amazon accounts are needed to fully establish independence. The last item is free. But I believe that you could access each ISY from either location. -
What are the specific conditions that cause you to manually reset the program (not why you need to reset). Details, details, details.
-
Using the same command in different rooms does not work with my several 2nd generation Echo Dots. It does work using the original Echo devices and both the earliest and latest Dots as long as they're assigned to different accounts.
-
shawnmc, which specific device are you selecting? or is it a scene? toflaherty, all my Routines are working. What's the result if you try now? Can you still control the device/scene/program from the Administrative Console?
-
The ability being discussed is an Amazon Alexa device ability. That strongly suggests that the ISY skill (either v2 or v3) is not the enabler.

As I indicated, Off is difficult to spot, On is considerably more noticeable. It's just hard to see something that's not there.
