It will send a notification if it was unable to do so??? Nope. The ISY can't communicate with any Insteon device if the PLM fails, but it can communicate with Z-Wave devices.
-
That's like saying send me a message to let me know that messages can't be sent. There exists complex and somewhat costly solution. That depends entirely on how critical the ISY is and how soon the OP needs to be notified of a failure. A PLM can be failing and still be somewhat functional. Actually Z-Wave devices do not rely on the PLM at all. More detail is needed from the OP.

That's similar to the problem of getting notified if power goes out. Without power, nothing can send a message (unless you have backup power). What you can do is have the ISY send a message periodically. If no message is sent in that time frame, then you'll know that there's a problem, but not what the problem is. Nothing extra is required at all. You'll have to select how often you want to receive a message, hourly, daily or something else.

What are you using to determine if there's snow forthcoming? Also, what does your program control to turn the power on? If there is snow, then your program will turn something on, wait 72 hours and then stop. Power will not get turned off unless the condition evaluates as false (no snow), not even after 72 hours elapses. So, determine what you want to happen, when it will happen and when you want it to stop before creating the program. The post your writings

If you add a command to any Harmony button, then that command will replace, not supplement, the original button's function. As versatile as the Harmony Hub is, ti's very lacking in flexibility. In addition to the limitation I just mentioned, you can add only one remote that has a screen plus only one that doesn't. And Alexa can handle only one Harmony Hub. I had to reset virtually everything when I added a command to a Bluetooth button. There's no way at all to add a Bluetooth command back. OTOH, it's the best remote for controlling my Fire TV which has no volume function. Too bad we need two Hubs so both my wife and I can have a remote with a screen when watching a movie.

anyway to speed up motion sensor reaction times?
stusviews replied to musicmatters's topic in ISY994
Which motion sensor? Which version of ISY UI and firmware? -
I modified some program names, deleted a few and created a few. Logged into the portal, deleted from the portal both those I deleted and those I modified and the added the newly modified program plus those that were newly created. So far everything proceeded as expected. I was happy. The elation was short lived. After logging into the computer app, I "forgot" the no longer extant programs and selected "Discover." One newly created program and one modified program did not get discovered. After several tries without success, I selected "Forget All" (I'll never do that again. All Routines needed to be re-created.) and then Discover. Same result. The two programs are nowhere to be found in the computer Alexa app. Next, I opened to smartphone Alexa app, selected Smart Home, then Scenes. Lo and behold, the programs do show in Scenes where all programs reside. OK, happy again. Went to Routines which was the end goal. When I got to Action, once again, those two programs were a no-show. OK, Benoit always has tricks available, so I changed the programs in the portal to "Light." That worked. Summary: The computer Alexa app doesn't see either program. The smartphone Alexa app sees both as scenes. Smartphone Routines can't find the programs, but when changed them to Lights, Routines can enable the action. Why? Update: I just determined that this is true now for all programs. Also, after the reclassification, the programs appear in the computer Alexa app.

Another frame of reference. I did update from V2 to V3 and everything is working as it should including smartphone routines.
-
And the individual switches are never controlled by the Alexa app, only the scene?
-
Insteon thermostats do update humidity quite often, sometimes more than once each minute, but should not do it continuously.
-
The portal does not allow turning anything on or off unless ISY Web Access is selected, but then again, that's not the portal.

The smartphone app allows you to select which Echo device will respond to the command. The computer app does not offer that choice, every Echo device on the same account will respond. The smartphone app allow placing device that have a light bulb icon into a group (as well as which Echo device). You can place any device, scene or program into the computer group. Finally, the portal allows you to select which device have a light bulb or other icon for the smartphone app. That has no effect on the computer group.
-
For a start, re-enable the thermostat, but don't add the thermostat to the Alexa app. What's the result? If continuous polling stops, then add it back to the portal, but disable "Live Update." Continue restoring until continuous polling resumes.

Room naming, which has been around for a while, has had no effect on anything except for MobiLinc. What has changed is assigning a specific voice device (i.e., Home, Echo) to a smartphone Alexa routine.

Amazon never forgets. The sequence in which you do things matters. Even if you disable a skill, the devices may remain in place. First, disable the v2 skill, second, forget all devices. Third, enable the v3 skill. Finally, discover devices.

ewind, I have a program for each and every battery powered device like the one you posted (post #15) except that I do not have the 2 second wait and, most importantly, all those programs are disabled. I enable them as needed and then disable them again. Otherwise, you'll use up the battery faster. That's because sending an on or off takes only an instant, but updating takes time and the battery is being used during the entire update writing process.

There are two distinct Amazon Alexa apps and they differ considerably. It's become imperative to specify which app you're using, the smartphone app or the computer app. That also goes for indicating which ISY version, 4+ or 5+ and now, even the ISY Alexa skill, v2 or v3. The computer Amazon Alexa has "Forget All," the smartphone Amazon Alexa app does not.

Did you add the switches to the portal and also the scene?
-
Some of the newer Insteon device are not fully supported by ISY v4+. That includes both the motion sensor and the siren. You may want to adventure in the still in Alpha version 5+. Or delve into Z-Wave for both the siren and sensor. Another choice is a BuzzLinc

The Harmony Hub will install on only one account. But I do have five accounts. I have the Harmony Hubs installed on three, the bedroom video system, the living room video system and the living room sound system. Like both of you, I'd really like to install two Hubs on the living room video system. We have two Hubs for the living room, my side and my wife's side. Only one of those is added to the ISY. We've always used two remotes for convenience, but the Harmony Hub allows only one Ultimate remote per Hub, that's the one with a screen. We have to activate both which is somewhat inconvenient.

My experience with Amazon support is among the best, second only to UDI support

cannot load admin console...?
stusviews replied to roxbits's topic in New user? Having trouble? Start here
Although this message doesn't help. I can get to the Dashboard using Windows 10 with Chrome, but not to the Administrative Console. The message I get is, "Java 2+ Required." BTW, "latest version is somewhat ambiguous. It's best to state the actual version you have installed -
Paul, what specific kind of load are the lights?
