  1. I can log into the portal from an iPad2.
  2. The brightness cannot be set for individual buttons, only for all buttons on the same keypad. You can, however, set a single button to be always lit (non-Toggle On) and use programs to turn the button on or off by placing the button in a scene.
  3. Click on the device, select LED Brightness (bottom, right).
  4. The ISY can receive IR (which can be parsed into program triggers), but it cannot of itself transmit IR.
  5. Michel, I have no difficulty logging into the ISY using the Firefox V52 esr. But, I cannot enter the portal with the Firefox esr version. Respectfully, Stu
  6. The ISY currently does not support virtual devices. There are a few workarounds, but none do exactly what you want, which is as I understand it to set all scene devices to a specific percentage of their current level. One solution is to use for voice to dim or brighten a scene. In that case, each command issued changes the current setting of each device in the scene by approximately 9%. Another solution is to use Alexa groups to set the devices to a particular level, but all device will go to that level, not a percentage of what they were. A third solution, is to create a scene for each particular lighting level you want. That's not too bad if there are only two or three levels, but it's cumbersome if you want more levels.
  7. There are no other Insteon solutions. There are WiFi locks, but if you want to use an ISY, then the only other choice is Z-wave, but that requires that you add the Z-Wave module (if you don't already have one installed). Unlike the Morning Industry locks, most Z-Wave locks also provide status (locked, unlocked) that can also be used as program triggers. My choice is Schlage.
  8. The wonderful countdown timer has been discontinued. Yes, you can configure a KPL to duplicate the countdown timer. If you wan to totally disable the On function, then you'll need to not connect the load to anything and use a Micro Module.
  9. Absolutely, yes. I've even gotten free devices when a problem was confirmed and sometimes when it wasn't
  10. The only restricted devices are door locks. Other devices such as voice commands to garage door openers, either Insteon or Z-Wave, are not restricted at all. If Alexa can hear you, then it will respond
  11. I just tried the Firefox V52 esr version. The 64-bit Windows version does not launch Java. I do have both the 64- and 32-bit Java versions installed. But the good news is that the 32-bit Windows Firefox V52 esr version does launch Java. Edit: Oh no, the esr version does not allow logging into the portal.
  12. My understanding is that an ISY backup includes the entire Z-Wave mesh. I'm just wondering about the independent Z-Wave backup.
  13. Doesn't the ISY backup everything including Z-Wave? If so, what happens to the already backed up Z-Wave data. And, if the ISY fails, then the latest Z-Wave backup would be gone (but not the last ISY backup). I'm only speculating here
  14. The ISY does not need a PLM to be recognized by your network. Can you find it in your router?
  15. Where is the Z-Wave backup stored (Windows 10) and can I change the location?
  16. If the new ISY has the same problem, then the PLM or a cable are suspect. Which PLM? Did you try changing cables or the port on the router? The power sequence is plug in the PLM first, wait a few seconds, then power up the ISY.

    Variables

Variables are usually used to automate a task. If you're going to initiate the task using a smartphone, then there is no need for a variable. Cameras themselves do not interface with the ISY, You'll need the network module and a list of commands from the manufacturer of the camera. That's an ideal, but complex, task for variables. You may want to start simpler.
  18. This may work: http://www.smarthome.com/seco-larm-e-9622-4w25-enforcer-curtain-ir-motion-sensor-4-beams-white.html
  19. All my Insteon thermostats, both wired and wireless, show the displayed temperature when I select the thermostat in the Admin Console. Have you tried a factory reset-more than once? Did you try deleting and re-adding the 'stat? Just taking a couple of stabs at the problem.
  20. Alarming a zone is entirely dependent on the area that needs to be protected and the normal traffic in that area. Can you provide an accurate description of that area. An outdoor parking area that changes presents a very difficult situation.
  21. What's the result if you query the thermostat first? The ISY cannot read the temperature of the external probe at all. If you want/need to use the probe, then you'll have to solder the probe's wires to where the internal probe was connected.
  22. If you need security, then use a security system--nothing else is even closely adequate. OTOH, there's a wide option of deterrents, observation and notifications possible. Do you have a car alarm? One that clearly indicates that the vehicle is alarmed? Years back I used a leaf-timer to alternately flash a yellow and red LED on the dashboard panel. Nothing else
  23. Hi Benoit, the apology is unneeded, but appreciated. I was referring to the use of both brighten dim as voice control to set the same level (e.g., 20%) from two directions (e.g., 10% and 30%) as suggested by brandon0921.
  24. Do you think that Comcast has blocked all the more than 49,000 possible ports? What is you have IP cameras or other devices that need a port? BTW. port 443 requires HTTPS
  25. The Alexa lock command is independent of the ISY. Which lock? Which skill, the lock skill or the ISY skill? Did you add the lock to Alexa? BTW, it's not a good idea to allow a voice to control a lock (unless you happen to be Ali Baba).
