I opened Simplicity Studio and moved the Zooz stick to the computer, where it was recognized. I looked for where & how to do the backup, factory reset, restore, but could not find it. I installed the new Zooz stick on my Polisy and it took me about an hour to exclude/include the devices and upgrade my programs. Not a big deal while I only have 12 Zwave devices on IoP. However I need to understand how to do the backup/restore for when I move all me (+/- 80 Zwave devices to IoP. any guidance will be appreciated .

I will try

Thanks so much...... I did the upgrade procedure some 10 days ago and I wonder whether I did something wrong that caused the issue. I am just not good at that stuff and sometimes I get too courageous and mess things up........... Story of my life I only have some 12 Zwave devices on IoP and in the worst case, I'll redo the programs. Not a big deal.

This morning my Zooz Zwave stick suddenly messed up. It basically works (with delayed signals) with existing devices but will neither include new devices nor exclude existing devices. I tried rebooting ISY on Polisy as well as the Polisy itself and even restored my recent backup. Nothing seems to work and I ordered a new stick which will arrive later tonight ( same day service from Amazon). BTW price seriously increased to $ 40. I assume that I will have to exclude all existing devices and include again, but my programs should still be there be it that I will have assign the newly included devices to each program. When I have more time I will see if I can factory reset the "old" Zooz stick and keep as backup.

Zwave co-existence and device replacement questions
asbril replied to johnnyt's topic in Z-Wave - Series 700
I have 2 Zwave networks at home, one with ISY and one with ISY on Polisy. There is no issue having 2 Zwave net works. -
I usually go to sleep before my wife and then I tell Alexa "Dark" upon which all lights in the bedroom, except her night lamp go off. When we go to sleep at the same time, then I tell Alexa "Obscure", and all lights go off. The reason that I use Dark and Obscure is that I had problems naming the routine with my wife's or my name. For whatever reason, Alexa would not always react. I tried various alternatives and finally came up with these. During weekends, or other days without set wake-up time, we tell Alexa "Open dark curtains" and then we don't really need lights. I have all this set up on both Alexa and Google Home, but my absolutely-tech-hating wife can not get beyond Alexa

For the time being I have split the devices by rooms and moved 2 rooms to IoP. My query is really "philosophical" as I have it working with Kasa. Eventually I will have everything on IoP. I have seen others on this forum that have ISY's set up in different homes (lake house...) and I was wondering whether they had those ISY's "talking" to eachother. As said, it was mostly intellectual curiosity.

Thanks @lilyoyo1 but my question is how can I have a program in ISY whereby light X goes ON when sensor Y is activated in ISY on Polisy. As mentioned I have this working using the Kasa Node server on both, but I wonder whether there is a better /cleaner solution.

As mentioned before, I have a large Zwave setup (some 80 Zwave devices) and I am waiting for the migration tool to move the whole stup to ISY on Polisy. However I already manually moved some 12 devices. As such my home is divided in 2 separate ISY's. In a few instances I'd like one to "communicate" with the other. I resolved this by installing the Kasa Node server on both and use Kasa plugs. If the status changes of one of these plugs then this is also reflected on the other ISY and this can then be used in programs. I was wondering whether there was another, more logical solution. I noticed the Virtual Node server and hoped that this could be used creating virtual nodes, but I saw that this Node server serves another purpose. Does anyone has an idea or suggestion ?

Why is that a problem ? I have similar programs for lights and curtains. Yes, they get two instructions (one at sunset minus X and one at XX pm) to turn lights On or close the curtains, but so what ? -
Another thing you can do with ISY/Polisy......... Using the Holidays Google node server, I have wake-up programs that run depending on sub-calendars that I created in my Google calendar. As an example, if my wife works then lights go on, curtains open, TV goes on etc and after a set time the lights and tV go off, all this automatically when the calendar is set as a working day for my wife. Usually I set my wife's working days during the weekend for the coming week and this takes me about 30 seconds. I have other sub-calendars (and ISY programs) for when I have meetings at a specific time, for when the cleaning lady comes, etc etc. This goes way beyong what Alexa or Google Home can do.

Still works. It is included in one of my wake-up programs and turns on the TV and selects the channel.

Something to reflect on for you is that you are pretty much alone, or in a very small minority, thinking that Polisy is garbage. My experience with Polisy is excellent. Possibly your issue is not with the hardware but with setup. As mentioned before, the setup of Polisy can be challenging at times, especially for low-techies such as myself. UD is not (yet) as big as Apple and their beta releases may require some complicated steps. But their support is superb and when approached in a friendly way (see where I am going...?) the people on this forum will also guide you as much as they can.
-
Yes you can.
-
I have been following this forum for a long time and very, very, few people (if any) have had issues with the hardware. In the alpha/beta phase some (me included) needed guidance with the setup, but the reliability of the Polisy, as with the ISY, has been spectacular. There can always be a failing device and it also happens to Apple, but your generalisation that Polisy is garbage probably comes from frustration. UDI gives the best of the best customer support, swallow your frustration and ask UDI to help / guide you and you will delighted with the end result.

I also have issues with the PG3 version and I also reverted to using the PG2 version.

I actually use 9 calendars with HG but this shows only a few. If you still have issues, then pm me with your phone nr and I'll try to guide you over the phone.

I will send you a picture in a moment, but did you add the Google Authentication Token ?

In configuration you will see the name (s) of your calendar(s). In Calendar Name, you must copy/paste, in a separate Add Value for each, the calendar(s) for which you want a Today and Tomorrow node to be added to your ISY and then click on save. Instead of copy/paste you can just type the name but I find it easier to copy/paste to make sure that I have the exact spelling.

Same as what happened when updating 1.0.1 to 1.0.2, when updating to 1.0.3 the message to update does not go away even though the update appears completed.

To clarify (just in case it makes a difference) I run both ISY and ISY on Polisy. The reason is that I have some 80 Zwave devices and there is no Zwave migration tool yet. I manually moved some 12 Zwave devices (2 rooms) to IoP, so in fact I "split" my home in 2. When the PG3 came out, I removed the PG2 and installed PG3 first only on ISY where I have numerous programs using Holidays Google. This caused the issues described earlier. I removed and re-installed the PG3 several times, but the problems remained. I then decided to go back to PG2 on my ISY but kept the PG3 version on IoP. On IoP I have no programs running Holidays Google. Thinking about your explanation, I am not sure that it explains as initially I was no longer running PG2.
