What revision firmware is in on your ISY994i?
  2. I don't think the Category and Subcategory are used by the ISY994i. The HouseLinc software read it and uses the proper communications protocol that model PLM or HUB would use.

    Wiki page says 16GB. https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=ISY-99i/ISY-26_INSTEON:Replacing/Formatting_an_SD_Card
  4. If you swapped the Serial Daughter board from the old 2413S in to the new 2413U. It probably should work fine. Only thing is if a program reads the PLM ID. It could see it as a 2413U PLM as the subcategory ID is different between the 2413U and 2413S. If the old PLM was a 2412S then the memory on the daughter board is a slower speed and probably the >2000 link size.
  5. The photo I saw of the new trim plate. Has just the Off and On LED positions. To match the Off and On LEDs in the switch. The unused LED positions go all the way back to the original 2476S. So the relay and dimmers could use the same color change and light pipe kits. Now I wounder if they will have trim color change kits for the new style or if you want a different color. You get the older style and unused positions.
  6. It is possible it didn't have a great demand. I have seen a few other things that maybe not in high demand disappear. Like some of the colors of the wall switch trim kits. IMeter Solo, SynchroLinc. I saw something on the X10 forums. The 2477S switch that can unofficially still accept an X10 address. Is getting a new designed paddle trim next month. Since only the full off and full on positions are used. The new trim has all the intermediate positions removed. For someone that wants to match the trim to their older ones. Can purchase the old trim kit . So that will be another change in the future.
  7. The sales page says. Thirty Feet detection distance. Up to a ninety degree ARC and up to 150 feet RF distance. I suspect they are conservative ratings. So you could get more or less. Depending on the exact installation. Since they use a PIR sensor. I suspect things like bright light, heat sources like radiators, things like walls between the sensor and the module receiving the Insteon RF command. May effect things.
  8. I know at 2.4. The serial port Daughter Board was completely redesigned. RS232 interface chip changed to one with better ESD ratings and both serial signals to the output jack. Now have what looks like some surge protection on them. To get more Link Database size. The memory chip on the Daughter Board would have to be a larger capacity one. Except for the larger {2000} Link Database. The rest of the features look like what they said comparing the old 2412S to the 2413S. Even my original 2413S V1.0 has a beeper, Red/Green LED, is lighter and faster memory over the 2412S. My V2.4 also has the same 24FC64 memory chip in it as the V1.0.
  9. The PCB is double sided and some of the capacitors have a plated through hole. Linking the top and bottom sides. So care has to be used not to tear the plating out. Also the negative connections may connect to a heavy ground plane in the center of the board. A good soldering iron and good solder is needed. Things like a solder sucker or solder wick helps. If you are into electronics a nice desoldering machine is nice. Well I can dream anyway. I don't have one either. ?
  10. When you put it onto the UPS. It filtered out all the Insteon power line signals to and from the PLM. You where using Insteon RF only. Adding the 2443 Access Point for added Rf to power line signaling. Got the Insteon power line signals onto the power lines.
  11. Well even under the old private management. Nothing changed in the model number when the 2412S went from 417 Links to >2000. Just a hardware revision number. That was not posted for reference. It will be interesting if the whole Link Database can be accessed fast enough with the faster memory. The old 2412S slow memory caused errors if there was over about 800 links in it.
  12. Thanks for the confirmation on the latest being a V2.5 My last one during the 25% sale was in fact a V2.4.
  13. The firmware version should be shown in the Administrative Console where it is listed. In another thread here. There is a list of issues UDI has seen of features not working as they should. That they also forwarded to Smarthome for clarification and fixing. From what I saw. UDI got no real information on them and had to reverse engineer how to handle it.
  14. All the 2413S PLM's have no pass through outlets and have a beeper in them. Along with the lighter weight of the switching power supply over the old power transformer supply in the 2412S. Had a 1000 Link Database. The older 2412S PLM originally was 417 Link Database then upgraded to a 2016 Link Database. The only way I know of they can update the 2413S to 2000 links is to change the memory size to a 24FC128 from the 24FC64 in the 1000 link PLM I own. My later 2016 Link 2412S have a 24LC128 in them. The one I recently got {hardware v2.4} has a 24FC64SN in it. I expected to see a 24FC128 in it. I does have a newly designed serial port daughter board in it. An RS232 interface chip with an ESD rating and some added protection components on the RS232 signal lines. Unfortunately I don't see the UDI PLM in the future. As I doubt Smartlabs is ever going to sell them the controller IC with firmware or let them program their own controllers.
  15. When you added the Motion Sensor to the Administrative Console. It should also indicate what firmware is in it. It could be an earlier version form what is now shipping.
  16. Yes I saw that. It was on the sales page when I ordered one during the 25% sale. Guess the sales page was updated before the older stock got sold. Mine did not have the features listed on the sales page. ?
  17. Any Insteon activity while the Link Count is bring done. Can effect the results. I have seen the Smarthome sales page. Saying the PLM now again has a >2000 Link Memory size. Though I have never seen a 2413S with that size. The later production 2412S did and the ISY {I believe it was a ISY99i} controller had issues if you got maybe over about 800. In that case it was the slower memory speed in the 2412S.
  18. The XPF is a 20 amp filter. It is BIG and fits in a triple electrical box. If you wire it in to the breaker panel on a branch circuit. Everything on that circuit would be filtered. Though you maybe able to just filter the feed just to the lights themselves. You would only need one. If you can filter all the lights feed. The link in the earlier post . For the XPF has a manual you can download and see how it connects. I believe some here have used the XPNR wired across the noisy load. Maybe someone could post their findings. https://www.x10.com/x10-pro/specialty-devices/filters/xpnr-noise-reducer.html
  19. This is from the UDI Wiki. https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=ISY-99i/ISY-26_INSTEON:File_Menu#Restore_Modem_.28PLM.29 Are any of the LEDs on the front panel On or flashing? Except the power one that should be On. Did you use the tools PLM/Info status test or the Show PLM Link Table test? What did they indicate? An empty or very small table can indicate a PLM issue. One thing if you power down the ISY994i and PLM. Power up the PLM first. So the ISY994i can find it at start up. There is a real long thread here on the 2413S PLM failures and how some of us repaired theirs. It may give more clues. https://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/13866-repair-of-2413s-plm-when-the-power-supply-fails/

You do not need a PLM if you only have Z-Wave. If you have a mix of both Insteon and Z-Wave or only Insteon then a PLM is needed. If you have Z-Wave only. There is a version of the firmware that does not go into safe mode if no PLM is found. There should be a link on each firmware versions release pages on the forums here. You can also use the one with no PLM check and still have a PLM. Just if it dies you will not know it.

Sad to read of your PLM failure. I have seen some changes over the years but seems their guesses have not worked well. I know my recently purchased PLM V2.4, maybe higher revision now. Has a redesigned serial port daughter board. Serial interface chip now one with an ESDI rating and two three pin diodes {maybe a spike suppressor} with resistors on the serial signal pins. Lets hope they may have finally gotten their act together. Past performance don't give my much confidence going forward on a decent fix.
  22. That model is the one with the added ZigBee protocol. Not sure about the main board. Users sheet mentions a switch mode power supply but no Insteon RF mentioned. Maybe a custom manufactured base board for them.
  23. There is a very long thread here on the PLM failures and if you are handy. How to repair it. https://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/13866-repair-of-2413s-plm-when-the-power-supply-fails/
  24. Thank you for the cookbook. I will be starting to look at it soon.
  25. You may want to post in the Insteon or Smarthome Forums for better results. https://forum.smarthome.com/default.asp https://forum.insteon.com/
