The new PLMs ID is shown in the PLM Info/Status test in the Tools Diagnostics Tab? You never used the Delete Modem (PLM) function?
-
What firmware version shows in the ISY module information?
-
I can't say anything about the present units being sold. The Synchrolinc use to start a Auto Calibrate when first power On. For users with out the aid of a controller and where doing manual links.
-
I have seen later firmware changes in many module that act differently than the manual. This only a educated guess. From what I have seen in some later module. It may not do anything. When you are holding the set button and connecting it. Does it start beeping? If it does. Keep holding the set button until the beeping stops.

If you used Delete Modem (PLM) you better have a good backup. Because all references to the modules in your programs and scenes will all be gone.. As it removes the PLMs ID in the modules and in the ISY Scenes and Programs.

V2.1 Date Code 1505 is the same as mine. It should be the latest. As pointed out. Delete Modem (PLM) would remove the PLM address from every Insteon Device in the system.

Here is the procedure to correctly replace the PLM. http://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=ISY-99i/ISY-26_INSTEON:File_Menu#Replace_Modem_.28PLM.29 If you can read the hardware revision and date code. Found on the white sticker on the back of the new PLM. and the Firmware revision reported in the PLM Info/Status found in the Tools Menu It would give us information on what the latest hardware and firmware now shipping.

Every LED manufacture uses their own designed driver circuits. It would be impossible for every dimmer to work with every brand and model LED bulb. That is why many dimmer manufacturers have a list of known to work with LED bulbs. I have not seen one lately from Smarthome/Smartlabs. Also LED bulb manufacturers have lists of known dimmer models that work with their bulbs.

The full users manual should have factory resetting instructions in it. http://cache.insteon.com/documentation/2458a1-en.pdf If you have the newer model. http://cache.insteon.com/documentation/2862-222-en.pdf

First time I tried to purchase it. They where marked more stock expected shortly and it directed me to another Amazon seller. I waited until Amazon had more. As I was mostly interested in the hardware 2.? changes and the older one I rebuilt was working just fine.

I got my last 2413S from Amazon from the same page you linked to. It was a fresh brand new PLM. Hardware 2.1 firmware 9E. I also saved $18.00 over the Smarthome sales site and free shipping. Though I was not a two day delivery Prime Member.

The 2.0 that is going bad. Does not sound encouraging. It has the new C7 and C13 that was supposed to fix the capacitor issue. Firmware 9E was I believe the fix for the All On reports. Though there could be another failure in it. I have seen another user report X10 power line receive issues with a fairly new 2413S PLM but not X10 transmit. A replacement fixed the issues.

If it is only six months old. Could you give us the information on the white stickers on the failing one? Will be very informative if it is a hardware 1.C or later. As 1.C is reported to be where the new capacitors where introduced.

(2.) Unplug PLM and power down ISY994i. Wait at least 15 seconds. Power up the PLM and let it completely initializes. Then power up the ISY994i to allow it to find the PLM. If you actually did a factory reset on the PLM. I would suspect the test Teken indicated will have a Link Database count close to zero. Any 2413S PLM over two years old. Can have a power supply failure and not function correctly. Dim or not illuminated LED is one indication of a failure. Another is a blank Link Database. Smarthome recently updated the power supply capacitors, I have seen hardware version 1.C and above mentioned. In hopes of correcting the failures. Only time will tell if it was a correct fix.

Even at 100% ON. The AC waveform is distorted as the triac switches when the AC changes polarity. Many loads not rated to be on a dimmer may act strange. Or there is a small chance the switch or load could be damaged. Stick to relay On Off switches with non-dimmabe loads or use loads rated for dimmers.

One point on the XPPF. It is rated at five amps. Do not push it to close to five amps. The coils get warm and smell. I put a four amp load {incandescent bulbs no current spikes from things like LED bulbs} on one and started melting the bobbins the coils where wound on.

The SignaLinc 4816A2 is a passive type coupler. A coil in series with capacitor across the two lines. No active electronics to go bad. I guess in theory the capacitor or coil could open up but not very likely. You may want to start looking for power line noise makers and signal absorbers. This tutorial may give you some tips. http://jvde.us/x10_troubleshooting.htm

The UDI Wiki says 2.7.15 is the last firmware release for the old ISY-26 and 3.3.10 is the last for the ISY-99i http://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=Archive_Official_Firmware_Releases http://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=Current_Official_Firmware_Releases

I had to move my original RemoteLincs far away from the PLM. So the communications had to go thorough a different Dual Band device before I could update it.

If "Control is switched Off" no longer working. PLM bad?
Brian H replied to jeffpdavis1's topic in ISY994
I have seen posts that 1C had the new value capacitors. 2.0 definitely would have them. -

There should be a white sticker on the back of the 2413S. It should give you a hardware revision. I have a 2413S with 9B firmware and it is a hardware 1.B. I also don't think it is two years old but I would have to look for the invoice or look at my purchasing records on the Smarthome sales site. -
If you can connect all the AC power for the computing equipment. On the filtered outlet of a FilterLinc. You can then plug the PLM into the unfiltered pass through outlet on the front of the FilterLinc. That is how mine is connected.

Good to hear of your progress and you are closer to completely OK.

The wiki page may also give you clearer information. Yes unplug the PLM and the ISY994i external power supply Wait maybe thirty seconds and plug in the PLM and let it completely power up. Then plug in the external power supply for the ISY994i. So the new PLM is then detected. NEVER use Delete Modem (PLM) choice. It will remove all the PLM references in all the Insteon devices in your system. The Restore Modem (PLM) function does a software command PLM reset and then writes to the PLM.

LeeG may have a more details on what to do after using the Restore Modem (PLM) function with out the ISY994i controller detecting the new PLM ID. http://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=ISY-99i/ISY-26_INSTEON:File_Menu See the Restore Modem (PLM) section of the above wiki page. Do you have a recent backup if needed?
