    Upgrade Notice?

I use to get the notice on my ISY99i. It did not happen if I had the beta copy installed and then UDI called it released.
  2. Anything over two years old is the time they start failing. Mine was two years three months. Started like yours is. Power down for an hour or so and it would again work. It will get worse and getting a new one before it dies completely. Would be a good thing to do. Slightly off topic. I have a 2443 Hardware version 2.5 Access Point. It died this morning; no LED indications. Built on the same 2413S PLM main board. I will be looking at it today but suspect it will be the same set of capacitors that killed my 2413S PLM.
  3. The UDI Wiki is also a wealth of knowledge. You may want to look it over also. http://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=Main_Page
  4. I believe the ISY controller only checks for a PLM at power up or on a reboot. So it is possible the PLM had failed before the Network Module was installed and when the reboot was done. The PLM was no longer responding. New PLM is needed but if less than two years old. Use your two year warranty to get a replacement. The present hardware V2.0 and above. Have a beefed up power supply. Proper way to power up. Is plug in the PLM and wait until it has initialized. Thirty seconds is more than enough. Then power up the ISY controller. If the PLMs LED is off. Another indication the PLM has failed. Mine when it failed. Would work maybe thirty minutes and quit. If I removed the power and then waited for maybe thirty minutes. It again would work for a short time. I did the replacement caps fix and it has been stable for a few months again.
  5. I have seen no Insteon modules with a built in filter on the output or filter with a line cord.
  6. Michel; They have not even updated their sales site or manuals yet. So you are not the only one in the dark.
  7. It will be interesting to see if another firmware v.43 module has the Multi Scene removed. Could be the sales page and manuals are not updated yet. As the manual I just downloaded was published on 05/21/2013.
  8. The confusion on magnetic sensors is depends on the application. As an Electronic Technician. I refer to a magnetic switches resting state with no magnet present. Magnetic Switches when called out in security applications. Is in the state when the zone is not violated. So my NO switch when in a security setup is a NC. As it is closed when the magnet is next to it and not the zone is not violated. Some vendors are not too clear on their descriptions.
  9. In the Diagnostics Tab. Tools. PLM Info/Status. Does it show connected or In Safe Mode? You may want to try. Powering down the ISY994i and the PLM. Then power back up the PLM and allow it to initialize. Then power the ISY994i back up. Power cycling the PLM and ISY994i will reset both of them. How old is your 2413S PLM? The 2413S has a reputation of failing. Many times around two years old.
  10. I did a very limited test. From what I saw. The power line only ApplianceLinc was effected when connected to the filtered outlet of a FilterLinc. One added Hop used. The Filtered output of a FilterLinc may effect modules on its output but I suspect each unique installation would be different. 2456S3 AppplianceLinc: Query while on the output of a FilterLinc. 11. 2456S3 ApplianceLinc not the new Dual Band On Off Module? Yes the FilterLinc will block most, if not all of the power line Insteon commands to the ApplianceLinc. If it is on the filtered outlet. As it is power line commands only. It will effect how the ApplianceLinc works. Also any other Insteon Module on the filtered output. Would be effected by the loss of power line signals. I have no Dual Band On Off modules or any other Dual Band Devices, in use at the present time. So I am not sure if an RF command may work in that case. Are you having issues with a load on the ApplianceLinc. Like it will go On when load is Off but not Off when the load is On and making power line noise?
  12. If you think that is a loud click. You have never experienced the ratchet On Off switch in an X10 module. That was one of the reasons I switched to the earlier Smarthome X10 compatible On Off modules.
  13. I have a notebook and write down every modules part number, ID, date code and reported firmware in the My Lighting Tree. I also put a unique number on it. Like IN120 also in the notebooks list.
  14. Are you asking about how the local paddle of an Insteon Switch, turns the light connected to its load connection On , to different levels depending on time?
  15. Always power up the PLM first and allow it to fully initialize. Then power up the ISY Interface. So it can find the PLM. If the system works for awhile then stops working again. The PLM {well documented here and on the Insteon Forums} has failed. Mine did the same thing. Two years three month old. 2413S. Got worse as it warmed up.
  16. If you can find some white stickers on the modules. They should have a hardware revision number on them. Along with a production date code. You may not find them on older modules. The glue on mine seemed to dry out and the stickers have a tendency to fall off. Knowing that information may help. Like I have some 2456S3 ApplianceLincs. Oldest ones are v1.3, I1 Insteon Protocol and the latest v4.A, I2CS Insteon Protocol. I have the older Insteon Modules Full Users Manuals archived if you need them. The older revision ones seem to be gone and older modules don't always have the features shown in the present manuals.
  17. Smarthome released a updated devices.xml file for Houselinc. I believe the 2413 V2 PLM's ID was one of the updated devices.

    Network Speed?

If the communications between modules is marginal and retries have to be done. Things can slow down with all the time needed for retries. I also agree the RF communications for Dual Band switches in metal boxes. Can be compromised by the electrical box. I have see the internal photos in the FCC Database. Smartlabs has the antennas on the back side of the module. Buried deep into the box.
  19. The original Garage Door Kit. Came with a SPDT reed switch. So you could pick the NO or NC contacts for your setup. Smarthome now uses a cheaper magnetic switch. Though I believe the kit is the same price.
  20. Unfortunately there is confusion. As an Electronic Technician I also think of the resting state with no magnet next to it. Security use. Lists the state of the magnetic switch when it is not in the violated state. Most likely when the magnet is next to the switch. I have seen similar problems over in the X10 forums when trying to decipher a magnetic switch type.
  21. No you do not need the Pro version. When you purchase the Pro upgrade. UDI just enables it on your unit and when it reboots. The Pro options will be available. Did you add the new 2663-222 to the Administrative Console first?
  22. If it is six months old. It is in warranty as Teken posted. If you want to read about the capacitor issue. It is here. http://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/13866-repair-of-2413s-plm-when-the-power-supply-fails/ I had my two year and three month old 2413S die with failing power supply. Unregulated 12 volts {normally around eighteen or higher volts} was like seven to nine volts. Five volt logic supply regulator went out of regulation and the logic supply was real low. New caps restored it.
  23. I would suspect. That with a brand new SD Card. Everything would be default. Until a recent backup was used to restore it.
  24. The firmware and files are all stored on the SD Card. So when you put in the replacement. Your ISY994i had no firmware or files to run at boot time. Best to ask UDI about using the original ISY994i SD Card if it was not what failed causing your error LED flashing. If the failure is the ISY994i and not the SD Card. I would imagine using the SD Card from the problem controller should work.
  25. Did you follow the proper instructions to replace a SD Card? I know the WIKI information does not say ISY994i but I believe it still is valid. A new SD Card will not function until properly initialized.
