Is a common issue with the 2440 RemoteLinc and the latest 2413S PLM's. Try getting it as far away from the PLM as possible. So it has to go through a different Dual Band Module and can't use RF directly to the PLM. That is how I had to do mine. At the other end of the house. So the PLM was using a power line signal to the far away Dual Band Module and it did the RF communications to the 2440 in the linking mode.
  2. I did not see the 2475DA2 (Insteon Category 01, Sub Category 25) 10V Ballast Dimmer in the drop down list of modules in (RC2) 4.5.3 Firmware. I don't use the 5.0.? Alpha firmware so it may or may not be in it. From the FCC Database The module has the small RF Daughter Board in it. With the pig tail antenna. If the module is mounted inside a metal fixture. I doubt Insteon RF would reach it reliably.
  3. You are still going to need a PLM. As it will be needed to send the Insteon RF commands along with Insteon power line commands. Maybe a small 277 volt to 120 volt step down transformer can power it. Even if the transformer doesn't pass the power line signals correctly.

Did you wake them up before trying the restore? One thing we have found out. The 2413S PLM may not restore the old 2440 RemoteLinc if it is close to it. Move the 2440 Remotelinc as far away from the 2413S as you can. So another Dual Band device is processing the RF to and from the 2440 RemoteLinc and is sending the commands over the power lines to the 2413S. I had to move mine to the other end of the house. Where an Access Point handled the RF to and from the 2440 RemoteLinc. Mine failed completely when next to the 2413S PLM.
  5. Are you trying to use the Administrative Console or the Dashboard. Both are available for the firmware you downloaded. The Administrative Console is where you do what you want to do. Did you clear the Java Cache after the update?
  6. When you Query Insteon Engine it writes one byte to the module to get is Engine version back. Could be I1,I2 or I2CS. If you have any I1 modules you will see many peek and poke messages as they do not do Extended Insteon Messaging. My query of an I2CS module. 7. I too had a PLM with the LED on and not be working. It was not full brightness. That I mainly noticed after changing the capacitors and seeing it brighter.
  8. Have you tried. Powering down both the ISY controller and PLM. Wait maybe 30 seconds. Power the PLM back up and let it initialize. Them power the ISY controller back up.
  9. A 2413S serial PLM is needed. The ISY994i connects directly from its serial port to the serial port on the PLM.
  10. Nice modification. Thank you for sharing.
  11. They may have been scrambled by the power glitch. If it happens again. You may want to try a power cycle to do a power up restart. Pulling out the Air Gap Switch and waiting maybe fifteen seconds then pushing the Air Gap Switch back to its normal position not all the way in to do a Factory Reset. Will do a power up reset.
  12. I have not seen any schematics of any of the 2413 devices of any hardware revision. Just the real old 2414 PLC and 2412 PLM I have seen. The PCB is a multi layer board. With copper runs on top, bottom and the center layer. The - pad of C7 where C7- and C13- are connect to. Is connected to the center common ground plane. So you may not find a top or bottom run it was originally connected to. Sounds like the plated through hole actually burned away from the center ground plane. On the solder side of the PCB. The - connection of C8 is also the power supply common. Maybe you can put the C7- and C13- through the original hole where the pads use to be and then do a insulated jumper to where the C8- pad is on the bottom.
  13. I would use caution with a 5 volt 200mah USB charger you referred to. 200mah sounds like a charging rate and the voltage will go up and down to maintain the 200mah charge rate. The 5 volt 200mA rating is most important with unregulated power supplies. If the load was less than 200mA the 5 volts would be high and if the load was greater than 200mA the 5 volts would be low. A fully regulated 5 volt wall wart rated at 200mA or greater would probably work fine. I use a 2.4 amp wall wart for my Raspberry Pi3 and it is not loaded close to 2.4 amps but the output is still correct.

Anyone here using Insteon long enough. To remember the 2454D SocketLinc Dimmer V2? Looked like an over sized X10 LM15A Socket Rocket. Only Insteon. It always powered up to 100% ON after a power loss and restoration.
  15. The 5 volt logic supply is a small linear regulator. Feed by the unregulated 12 volts that is normally around 20 volts DC. When the caps where bad. I have seen the 12 volt supply go as low as 6 volts {I did not scope it for noise} and the regulator drop out.
  16. You may want to wait for an official reply for a ISY994i. The ISY99i information says 5V to 30V DC. 300 mA. http://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=ISY-99i/ISY-26_INSTEON:Quick_Start_Guide#Requirements The current rating was updated to 1 amp as the added boards like Z-Wave or ZigBee needed to be taken into account. The one in my ISY994i kit was 5V, 1 Amp. 5.5mm X 2.1mm, center +, DC connector.
  17. If your old setup used a 2412S it did supply power to the ISY Interface. No external one was needed. The 2413S does not supply power to the ISY Interface. If it is a new one, there should have been a power supply in the ISY Interfaces box.
  18. Brian H replied to smokegrub's topic in ISY994
Can't do much about the battery operated devices. If they didn't go into power saving mode. The battery life would be real short. If you have any Insteon modules that are old enough to only do the original I1 messaging. They can take for ever to update the link database in the module. With memory peeks and pokes.
  19. From what I have seen in other threads. I understand that some data was received. Looks like it will be in the 5.? firmware.
  20. Only the old discontinued for many years now 2412S supplied power through the serial cable. Users that had to replace an old 2412S with a 2413S did have to get the external supply. Are you sure you didn't get the external supply in the box with the ISY994i? The UDI sales site says power supply included. https://www.universal-devices.com/sales/ I took a look at the Smarthome ISY994i offerings. In the What Is Included tab. There is a power supply listed even for the standalone ISY994i with out PLM.
  21. I have seen them adjust the list price on a refurbished LampLinc up by $10.00 then sell it for $15 off. That price. While a brand new one with a 2 year warranty was $5 more than the refurbished LampLinc reduced price. Meaning saving $5 got me a 30 day warranty over a 2 year one.
  22. Don't try a Alert Module for a Beacon test. Maybe changed in present ones. Mine is an early purchase. Mine will work correctly if it is the one doing the tests to other modules. If it is receiving from others doing the tests. The LED does not show correctly When the LED is Green. Modules on both phases flash it Green. When the LED is Red. Modules on both phases flash it Red. To be fair. There was no mention of a Beacon or Communications Test in the manuals I downloaded for it. So it may have been a known issue. At the time I bought mine.
  23. I suspect Home Depot and Amazon stress HUB compatibility as that is what they carry and not the ISY994i line of controllers. Your firmware version and UI should match in version number. You can get the proper UI on the firmware 4.5.1 announcement or get 4.5.3 (RC2) the latest released version. The latest firmware should support all the Insteon devices except a few odd ones. Like the Alert Module.
  24. We have seen a few reports of brand new 2413S PLMs failing in a month or two.
  25. If it worked for two years after changing the caps and is now having issues. I will add my vote for the caps going bad again. Depending on how bad the power supply voltage is. The LED may still be On and it will not function.
