Hello all,

We shall look into geofence. This said, can you please provide us with a list of features that you would like to work with MobiLinc/ISY Portal?

Also, has anyone tried pointing http URL/Port in MobiLinc settings to ISY's local IP address/Port?

Bob P, are you certain GeoFence works with MobiLinc and Dynamic DNS? If so, then it should automatically work with ISY Portal.

With kind regards,

Michel

The passwords used are different for the Portal and local IP so auto detect won't work.

My workaround was to change my userid and password in ISY to that of the Portal and now I'm able to input local and use autodetect in Mobilinc.

Honestly, asking Wes to allow a different username and password to be (optionally) specified for the local connection would go a long way to solving the performance issue...

Do you have to enable autodetect or is it, uh, automatic if I match up the id/password and input both the local IP and Portal URLs?

I don't know.. the settings are Auto Detect, Local or Secure so I image you need to select auto.

Hi Memphis,

If you have a DynDNS address set up, you don't need Mobilinc Connect for Geofence notifications, and you don't want Mobilinc to go through the ISY Portal. Just point your ML at the DynDNS, and don't use any portal settings. Set Mobilinc to send Geofence Notifications and it should work. My setup includes Mobilinc, ISY Portal, DynDNS, and Echo (Connected Home, not Skills). Everything plays well together.

I paid for the discounted DynDNS five-year subscription, so I'm not in a hurry to scrap it.

Although I don't need to use it, here's my "Geofence Coming and Going Program. If you can't get the native ML notifications to work, you can try it:

  • If
  •         $Bobs_iPhone_Geofence is 0
  • Then
  •         Send Notification to 'Bob Text' content 'Left Home'
  • Else
  •         Send Notification to 'Bob Text' content 'Arrived Home'

Hi Bob,

When you are running a direct connection to ISY through DynDNS, are you just using the geo-fence notification on your phone, or do you actually have your ISY performing an action based on the geofence variable?  I tried direct connection to the ISY and while my phone notifies me of the geo-fence changes, the ISY variable is not updated.

Thanks,

Tim

Agree with MWareman - it would be perfect if MobiLinc would allow a distinct username and password for local access…it already allows a distinct IP address for local access!
