MWareman Posted February 12, 2018 Posted February 12, 2018 Tapatalk still throwing an error when trying to connect. Is the maintenance over yet? If so, Tapatalk is borked. If not, not sure why the web interface is working...
larryllix Posted February 12, 2018 Posted February 12, 2018 Did we just just from a real computer to the iOS style world with the forum?
ppitkin Posted February 12, 2018 Posted February 12, 2018 Bring back the old layout. This is horrible.
mwester Posted February 12, 2018 Posted February 12, 2018 Agreed. It's sort of like putting a tablet UI on a computer. (Nothing wrong with a tablet UI, as long as it's on a tablet. On a computer, a tablet UI just means lots of icons that are way too large, overly-huge margins that waste more screen space, gigantic buttons that work great for fingers on a tablet but again, just waste space on a computer... JMO.)
Bumbershoot Posted February 12, 2018 Posted February 12, 2018 I know I'll grow accustomed to the looks of the forum, and the functionality seems complete (I don't use Tapatalk). The important part for me is that the performance is snappy
apostolakisl Posted February 12, 2018 Posted February 12, 2018 It seems to have all the features you would want. But it is too darn much white screen. I used to be able to see so much more all at once, now lots of scrolling.
stusviews Posted February 12, 2018 Posted February 12, 2018 I'd really like topics I've replied to to be visible. On occasion, I later have something I'd like to add or correct.
MWareman Posted February 12, 2018 Author Posted February 12, 2018 So far, I’ve only been using Safari on IOS - since the Tapatalk plugin is not working yet. Once Tapatalk is back I’ll go back there (I don’t even remember what the old UI looked like...)

The condensed option cuts down on white space and let's you see more posts.

I'm sure I'll get used to this in time.
Teken Posted February 12, 2018 Posted February 12, 2018 OMG I feel like this is a repeat of the last forum migration. Honestly, hate the look and feel of this new forum. Don't know what was wrong with the old forum it was easy to navigate and use. I feel like I'm having snow blindness its so freaking white in here . . .
DennisC Posted February 12, 2018 Posted February 12, 2018 I agree, it's going to take some getting used to.....
Brian H Posted February 13, 2018 Posted February 13, 2018 Yes initial thoughts where I don't like it. Now that I am starting to use it more. It is not as bad as I originally thought. Anyone find the secret to getting rid of the pop up asking about forum notifications? Every where I go it pops up again. Even if I click on ignore or the X close the box tab.

That will open a page with all of the switches.
Michel Kohanim Posted February 13, 2018 Posted February 13, 2018 We had to migrate because we were on a back level version with many security holes. This is not the repeat of the last attempt since you can notice that the performance has not degraded. I personally like this format my better on my Android phone but I will ask our Admin to see whether or not the layout can be changed. With kind regards, Michel
Techman Posted February 13, 2018 Posted February 13, 2018 The show posts "since last login" option doesn't seem to be working. When I select this option the page was blank. When I selected 1 day back I was able to view posts that were as current as one hour ago.
Goose66 Posted February 13, 2018 Posted February 13, 2018 +1 for the new format on mobile devices - obviates my need for Tapatalk.

Thanks -- some forums offer each user a choice of "skins" that change the look and feel (within limits) - that might be ideal to support both users of mobile devices as well as those who use real computers. I guess I never use this forum on a mobile device -- my mobile devices are for work only, and this forum is clearly not work-related for me! (Although I guess as a moderator, Michel's use would indeed be "work-related"!)
Mustang65 Posted February 13, 2018 Posted February 13, 2018 Had to pull out my sunglasses the first time i got on the new format. It was a good thing I did not bring it up on the PC when I got up at 2AM the other morning.

Michel Kohanim Posted February 13, 2018 Posted February 13, 2018 Hello everyone, For those who really really want to change this theme - to the point that you are willing to create a poll based on the themes listed https://invisioncommunity.com/files/, then I promise that if we get 15 votes for any single theme, we'll change the theme. With kind regards, Michel
stusviews Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 I like the Organic theme. But, IMO, you may want to present the top 3 themes that get 15 or more votes for a final decision. Note: 3 is arbitrary. Edit: is there not an HTML option?
Michel Kohanim Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 Hi stusviews, I cannot come up with any! I like this one. The question was for all those who really hate this interface to the point that they are willing to come up with <n> and create a poll. It seems that the level of hate is NOT that high orat least not at the moment With kind regards, Michel
