Are you using the launcher or browser? If launcher, I would look at either giving it permission in Java or checking to see if your antivirus is preventing it from opening

I have tried IE, Firefox, Chrome, and the launcher.  The launcher disappeared when I cleared the Java cache.  Turning off Windows Firewall did not help, the only other security I have running is Windows defender.  The error appears to be coming from Java, and I don't know how to disable security for that.

You didn't indicate if you were using Windows or Mac, but try starting with the below document. Mac may have other issues, but you can find that info in the full document list.

Try starting with these instructions:

The full list of instructions are here:

I am using Windows 7, Firewall is off, no virus protection programs running.   I have been thru the wiki page and tried every option at least four times and have accomplished nothing but waste a ton of time.  I can access the isy via network address, and the initial page will load, but the administration page will not load due to certificate errors/untrusted web address problems.  The isy launcher will not run - it generates an application error/acts like the reference address doesn't exist:

I already did that.  I also tried changing the browser security to allow all activex programs to run - no luck

Unless you get an better answers you should open a ticket with UDI> They will get you straightened out. Saturday they are usually scarce, though.

I don't normally have problems opening the admin console but today I can't.... I've been trying for 2.5 hours.

Java 8 update 251 installed was installed on May 1, I'm not positive if I tried to open the admin console since I let Java update.

After having no luck clicking the ISY launcher on my desktop, the first thing I tried was restarting my laptop.  nothing changed. Click launcher the pointer shows a spinning wheel for a second but nothing opens in task manager.

Next I tried cleaning the java cache, and using the start.jnlp downloaded the last time.

then I clicked the link at the top of thus thread and downloaded the same start.jnlp again (at least the size on disk is the same, i didn't compare checksums).

after than failed I completely uninstalled java from the windows control panel and went to https://www.java.com/en/ and re-installed from scratch.

then i clicked https://isy.universal-devices.com/start.jnlp from the top of this thread and again got a fresh copy of start.jnlp when run i breifly see the JAVA banner in the center of my screen:

image.png.4325f59b8eca61c8fc5d55dba9efbdbc.png

but nothing appears in the task manager, and ISY Launcher does NOT reappear in the desktop.

Now what do I try... I'm out of ideas...

This sounds like your router may be handing out duplicate IP addresses. Have you reserved an IP address in your router?

I have a reserved address for the ISY, and browsing to the IP yields the expected results.

Edit to add .99 is outside the range assigned by dhcp, and pinging it also answers, until i unplug the isy from the network briefly at which point ping fails.

Someone else has described similar issues in another thread starting a few days ago.  Perhaps the two of you are running into the same bug.  You might compare notes and go to Michel with this.

UPDATE: it's fixed.  I don't know the exact cause.  Michel and I spent an hour on a remote connection.  He said my case was pretty unique and basically the only fix was removing even more temp files than i had previously, the entire java branch under appdata.

Java Sucks!

Michel Rocks!

This too is an issue for me.  I changed computers (Win 10) , loaded a fresh Java, cleared cache, and clicked the  https://isy.universal-devices.com/start.jnlp.  I get a momentary flash that the flie is run, but no icon comes to my desktop!  What is the fix?

I have seen this before. I am not sure that this will resolve it, but try to save the "...start"  in a different folder (ex. Documents) and increase the Java memory to  1024.

What worked in my case.

1) uninstall java via the control panel

2) Navigate to C:\Users\<your windows username>\AppData\Local\Sun\ and delete anything left behind there.

3) reinstall java from a fresh download of the installer.

Got to step 2), nothing in my username directory called AppData

likely need to tell win 10 to show hidden files and folders:

  • Open File Explorer from the taskbar.

  • Select View > OptionsChange folder and search options.

  • Select the View tab and, in Advanced settings, select Show hidden files, folders, and drives and OK.
