Admin Console can not find the ISY

HELP ! ! !

Admittedly have a non-supported ISY-994i device.  Nontheless, has worked previously.  Power to home went off and things stopped working.  Tried to re-install things per the Cookbook instructions.  Downloaded the Admin Console to PC.  When I launch the Admin interface, the ISY Finder doesn't see the ISY-994i device (see attached image).

So, I deleted the PC console link, cleared the Java cache and launched the HTML ISY interface.  I can see all of my controllable devices from this interface.  I can turn them on and off, but have no access to program them.

WHAT IS HAPPENING AND HOW DO I FIX IT ???????

After clearing your Java cache, download start.jnlp from UD to access your ISY. It will install ISY Launcher to your desktop, which is the prefered what to access the admin console.

If the Launcher fails to find your ISY, you can click on add and enter your LAN IP address.

Installing the Admin Console Icon on Your Desktop

It's always best to use the Admin Console application which is browser independent. To do this:

  1. Clear your java cache
  2. Use the ISY Launcher to launch the Admin Console. This should put an icon on your desktop once you run the downloaded start.jnlp file.
  3. Click on the discovered 994, Polisy, or eisy and you will see this menu

Launcher_Menu.png

Admin Console (LAN) This menu item downloads the Admin Console directly from Polisy

Admin Console (Cloud) This menu item downloads the Admin Console from our cloud servers

Regardless of how you get to the Admin Console (Cloud vs. LAN), the results are the same: Admin Console is brought up and connected directly to your Polisy. Admin Console allows you to add/remove/change Z-Wave/INSTEON devices, make programs, and make configuration changes. The best source for what you can do with the Admin Console is our ISY Cookbook .

I'm having the exact same issue. The launcher can't find the ISY. I know what the IP address is and I try to manually add it but it still doesn't find it. I tried clearing the Java cache while checking all of the boxes and nothing. I know that the ISY is there and that the IP address is correct because I can access it but I just can't access the admin console.

For your issue, go through the list of steps here:

How are you accessing it if not via admin console?

What computer OS are you running? (Windows, macOS, other)

what firmware is your device? You’re posting in the ISY994 area so do you really have a 994 or other device?

Make sure you’re using the IoX launcher (start.jnlp) from UD’s site….download a fresh version from the UD site and clicking on “My ISY”. (Clear Java cache again before attempting this again just to be sure.)

I figured out my problem. The launcher wasn't finding my ISY for some reason. I was inputting the IP address for my ISY URL to manually add it. I realized I had to find the URL from the my.isy.io site. Still have no idea why the launcher won't find the ISY automatically but I got in to the portal. Now I can't figure out why my password isn't working.

If you are using your portal IP address to access your admin console, you must use your portal login credentials, not the admin console login.

For local access, check your router for the correct local IP address and add it to the Launcher manually.

Obviously if your ISY is showing up in the portal and you can get to it then ISY is alive and kicking.

IoX will automatically find ISY as long as the computer running IoX and the ISY are on the same LAN and you don't have any fire wall rules in your router.  It won't find ISY if ISY and your computer are on different VLAN's or completely different LAN's or across a VPN.  Also I suppose it is possible that if you are running some anti-virus software on your computer that it may be blocking it.

And as mentioned, your username when accessing via the portal is your portal username (likely your email) and the password is the portal password.

Through every version of ISY Finder and ISY launcher using 5 different routers now and a few dozen different Conputers none have ever found my ISYs or Policy's until I have manually installed the IP address for any of them, yet.

I always wondered why they labelled them 'Finder' at all.

Hmm.  I have the exact opposite experience.  I have never had it not find my ISY or Polisy when on the same LAN/VLAN at multiple locations using multiple computers and evolving through a few different routers.  However, this person also entered it manually and it isn't finding it.
