roho Posted February 19 Posted February 19 I've been watching/waiting for Yolink to come out with their local API and it looks like it might actually be here. Here's a link to their "Steps to working with Local API". This appears to have been posted just a couple days ago (Feb 12, 2025), so I doubt that anyone has done a production implementation just yet. Still, it looks like we're getting closer. 3 1 Quote
EWhite Posted February 19 Posted February 19 (edited) BOY HOWDY!!!! i cant wait! This will make me more likely to buy more yolink stuff Edited February 19 by EWhite Quote
Guy Lavoie Posted February 19 Posted February 19 For sure! Local control is our fundamental religion. Anything else like web access is just nice to have on top. Quote
Panda88 Posted February 20 Posted February 20 I ordered the new HUB required for local control. Did not receive it yet. My understanding is it is in Beta and there is no API to control it yet Quote
Andy P Posted February 20 Posted February 20 (edited) Thanks for the link - I checked in the current version of the App (1.40.36) and there is no option YoLink App ([Local Hub] -> [Local Network] -> [Integrations] -> [Local API]) yet. Does anyone else see it? Will keep checking. Edited February 20 by Andy P Quote
Panda88 Posted February 20 Posted February 20 You likely need the new local hub device - it is supposed to be in beta stage - there is some discussion on the HA forum and discord Quote
Panda88 Posted February 20 Posted February 20 Looks like the Local API is simple for now. No MQTT so we will need to poll devices for now. . Hopefully the will support in future Quote
Andy P Posted February 21 Posted February 21 Oh Interesting - I do see they came out with a new so called local hub - which currently shows as Sold Out. Seems the old hubs cost less than $25 each and the new hubs will be over $300 and have a bunch of other features. I have 36 nodes now on my Yolink node server. They all seem pretty responsive, but since a lot of them are checking for leaks and water running, I would rest a bit easier knowing the notifications/actions are not relying on an internet connection and server farm. 2 Quote
sjenkins Posted February 22 Posted February 22 (edited) I am seeing $98.99USD for hub three & its available ; am I missing something? https://shop.yosmart.com/products/ys1605 Edited February 22 by sjenkins Quote
Panda88 Posted February 22 Posted February 22 I received mine. It is still beta but you get it cheaper Quote
Andy P Posted February 22 Posted February 22 The link I saw the other day has disappeared. It brought me to a yolink store page that specifically had a hub called Local Hub. Maybe it was a mistake, or maybe it was a leak. But it is gone now. I really don't know if that was the same hub as the ys1605 Hub 3. I assume when it is out of beta all will become clear. They continue to show this status as of today: Does the YoLink Hub 3 Support Local Integration? As of April 2024, the YoLink Hub 3 does not support local integration. It is planned to be completed by end of year along with matter compatibility and once completed, will be through a software update by the Hub 3. 1 Quote
Panda88 Posted February 22 Posted February 22 I was told in the fall the local Hub would be different from the cellular one (Hub3) - They likely need more horse power for the local integration - apparently the CPU is different in the local hub than what is in its documentation 1 Quote
Panda88 Posted March 22 Posted March 22 How do you guys envision the local integration - For now the functionality is limited and requires polling of devices. It is a hybrid model where a device can be controlled both local and via cloud - with more functionality in the cluld control My thinking is using cloud if connected, and if the device goes off-line fall back to use local. One could also go local first and only use cloud for advanced features - Once they get MQTT working on the local hub local could go first with advanced features using cloud Let me know what approach is preferred Quote
DennisC Posted March 23 Posted March 23 Would it be possible to include a switch in PG3x to allow the user to select local or cloud? 2 Quote

That's a great suggestion.. in pg3x and also as an iox node/device that can be changed via drop down: Local only Cloud only Auto as suggested by Panda88-Cloud if connected, local if disconnected. 3 Quote
Panda88 Posted March 25 Posted March 25 (edited) They just provided me a beta of their local MQTT solution. It kind of eliminates the need for local vs cloud - it is using local if the device is registered locally (and send info back from hub to internet if connected) and uses cloud if not registered locally so there is really no need to select a mode. Panda88 Posted March 27 Posted March 27 I have been playing a little with the local control - it seems to work well at the basic level. Hybrid works well with some device having local control and others still on cloud (but I see no reason to have could devices as functionality is the same for local devices (naturally you need to register the devices on-line (cloud) and then move them to local later). APP shows a little delay when controlling local devices, but ISY control works well - naturally local control without cloud access will most likely not work with APP I still have to try to go completely off-line, but it should work - the issue is more how the system recovers after an internet outrage I need to understand how the solution works with multiple hubs (one local and rest traditional) on the same network (LAN). I have asked yolink, but did not hear back yet I probably need to separate the code into a new nodeserver but time will show 5 Quote
Panda88 Posted April 7 Posted April 7 Just a quick update on the local support for YoLink using hub YS1606 It is working well so far - I have a device that appears offline with the new hub (IRremoter) - it works if I move it to cloud (the node allows both ways of operation)- but get off-line replies once in a while even in that scenario It appears to be transparent if operating local or via cloud from the node perspective. I could release a beta version if there is interest, but it seems the hub is not fully released yet Let me know if there is interest in a beta 1 Quote

paulbates Posted Tuesday at 01:25 PM Posted Tuesday at 01:25 PM I'm the same boat, interested but not able to participate. I took the suggestion a couple years ago to join the advanced user threads and was turned down in both cases told to use normal yolink support instead. Quote
Xathros Posted Wednesday at 03:21 PM Posted Wednesday at 03:21 PM I’m interested but will need the new hub first. -Xathros Quote
Panda88 Posted Wednesday at 04:35 PM Posted Wednesday at 04:35 PM Ok - I'll keep working on it here - let me know when the hub becomes available? (I need to get one more as well) 1 Quote
