Webcontrol8 temp needs calibrated

Featured Replies

Hi,

I just installed the DS1822 temp sensor and its reading about 6 degrees higher that it should. I see there is no way to calibrate it on the Webcontrol8 web page. Is it possible to calibrate?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Gary

Gary,

That seems way off, the stated accuracy is +- 0.5 c Or +- 0.9F for the DS1822. I'm using premade temp sensors (Hilitchi 3m/9.8ft Waterproof Temperature Sensors Digital Temp Probe (Pack of 5pcs) from amazon and accuracy is very good. I would check another sensor.

I used some old Cat 5 wire for the main run from the Web control (need twisted pair to decrease interference). The sensors coming off a short distance ( length of cable supplied on probe) from the main run.

No calibration in Webcontrol, If this delta is real need to us a program in your home control device to correct.

Thanks Eric, the DS1822 seems hard to get anyway. I think I will give the Hilitchi 3m/9.8ft Waterproof Temperature Sensors Digital Temp Probe (Pack of 5pcs) a try.

Thanks

Hi Gary,

No, sorry. No temp calibration in Webcontrol8 or 832 is available. I never thought I would have a need to add that function

I may look at it one day, but I am working 2 other plugins that are consuming my time right now.

Out of curiosity, are you using Webcontrol8 plugin or Webcontrol832?

Hi Tim,

I am using the Webcontrol8. I had to get the DS1822 sensor from China as it appears they are not made anymore and I wasn't sure what sensor could take its place. So I will be trying the Hilitchi sensors as recommended by Eric. Hopefully they will work fine.

Thanks for a great NS.

Hi Gary!

That is Awesome news! Thank you for letting me know. And thank you to @EricBarish for the excellent suggestion.

Is that the DS18B20 sensor?

Thanks!

I used the Hilitchi 3m/9.8ft Waterproof Temperature Sensors Digital Temp Probe (Pack of 5pcs) from amazon as suggested by Eric. The are readily available and aren't expensive. On another note I am still waiting for the Hanwell HIH-4000-003 Humidity sensor and of coarse coming from Chine. Is there any alterative humidity sensor that can be used with the Webcontrol8? These Honeywell sensors are not readily available unless you pay a ridiculesly high price.

Thanks

Gary

This should work from digikey somewhat expensive $28.30 for one plus shipment. IN STOCK

HIH-4020 / HIH-4021 Series: Offers identical analog voltage processing but adds environmental protections like integrated covers or condensation

I had a lot of problems with the lifetime of the initial HIH-4000 over the years, Probably since I used it outside. Now I just us the value from my weather station (outside and inside readings) for humidity

HIH-4021-003

SHT40I-HD1B-R2

There is a surface mount unit SHT401 for $ 2.7 /unit but connection would be challenging
