All, I am looking to see if anyone has done an insteon/zwave alarm for their shed outside and what they used. I am in Canada so the temp will go down to -40 Deg C occasionally. I am hoping not to rely on 120 VAC but if needed could make it work. TIA

I've seen for some time on various updates that one of the known bugs is: "Changing RemoteLinc2 from 4 to 8 button crashes the unit". Is this something that will be corrected? I use several of the RemoteLincs and often change back and forth between 4 and 8 button control.

I would appreciate some advice on my small project. At night (from 10 pm to 5 am), I want to set the on-level of the three lights in the bathroom to 35%. Currently, I have all three lights controlled by a scene in which when I turn one switch on, all three lights come on. So, switch #1 is the controller of the scene. I wrote a program that, based upon the time of day, adjusts the scene by setting the on-level of each light in the scene. I was hoping that when I would turn on switch #1, it would catch these lower on-levels. Instead, it does not apply the on-levels that had been programmatically applied to the scene, but it applies the on-levels stored in switch #1…

Hi, I was generating a PLM Link Table using ISY diagnostics tool. It goes and does the report as it should. I have able 20 Insteon device in total (maybe a little bit more), I also have a total of about 10 Scenes. My question: Why would the PLM that is attached to ISY have over 600 lines of lnks in its table after the report is generated? Is the PLM storing ever action ever taken in that table? It can be the links to the devices, even if every device is registered 3 times, it still not come to over 600 line items? Thank you! Rob

I have a Lamp Linc I factory reset and added to my ISY but for some reason I can only turn it on with Fast On. Off works fine. I had this issue with an LED bulb a year or so ago and it was because I think On Level was set to 0% or something, but this shows Current State: 100%, On Level (Applied Locally): 100%, Ramp Rate (Applied Locally): 0.5s. Any ideas?

HI, I've been trying to figure out a way to monitor when my cable box is switched off. This often happens when my provider helpfully flashes the firmware, reboots the box and leaves it in an off state. Since I don't watch the box directly, I don't find out until I get blank recordings in my MythTV. I have a EZIO2x4 in my little basement datacenter where the STB is which I use for some other tasks. I was thinking perhaps there was a way to use it to monitor of the cable box is on or off. The STB in question has a powered AC outlet at the back which I have configured to turn on off wih the cable box. I was wondering if I connected a DC power supply to this out…

I tried making a program to notify me if a device (insteon) goes not responding. Used a LampLinc as a test, unplugged it waited awhile, no notification. I tried from the ISY to turn it on or off simulating a timer program turning it on, but it just doesn't do anything and no notification. Only way I got it was by querying the device, then I did right away. If I want to be notified of device failures, do I need a program that queries all Insteon devices every hour or whatever period I want type thing? It won't happen automatically?

I am currently running firmware 4.2.2 on a MacBook Pro (OS 10.9.4). My ISY is a 994i IR Pro. I recently received and linked one of three Hidden Door Sensors. The procedure was successful and as I continued the setup I learned that nodes for the device required firmware 4.2.3 or higher. As I have researched updating the firmware I have taken note of posts that indicate that Safari does not play well with the firmware. So, I have installed Firefox and made it my default browser. I have also ensured that I have the most recent JAVA update (JAVA 7 Update 67). All my devices are Insteon or X-10 (I have the module installed). I have a program that turns the front porch light on to 30% if we are home, and 50% if away (based on the variable set by my alarm, 0 for home, 1 for armed away), and if someone comes home while it is in away mode and then turn it off, it goes to 30% and so on. I generally access my ISY-99i using MobiLinc from my iPhone/iPad via https and have been doing so for years without issue. This weekend I upgraded from iOS 8.4.1 to iOS 9 public beta 3 and all of a sudden MobiLinc can no longer connect via https and produces the following error message (screenshot attached below). I've had to temporarily open up an http external ports in order to access my ISY which of course makes me very uncomfortable due to security risks. I tried to take a look at my SSL certificate to see if perhaps it had expired however I can no longer access that since the ISY-99i has been discontinued and certificate creation no longer functions. Hi, I just had an odd problem today and I'm wondering if my issue stems from my Isy or the PLM. I had a non working Insteon motion sensor and I figured it was the battery. So I took the sensor down and found the led was lighting up when I pressed the button under the battery cover. So next, while observing it's on/off status in the console I pressed the button a few times. Nothing happened, and the status did not change from on to off. The device continued to show ON despite repeated clicks of the button. Then I tried to look at the options for the motion sensor and the Isy console just froze. After a recent power outage, I have slowly been working thru issues this caused with some of our switches. We have an 8 button KPL (2486D v.29) that seemed dead after the outage. However, after shutting down power to the switch and turning back on seems to have brought power back to the switch. Now though it is acting as a 6 button switch instead of an 8 button switch and none of the buttons seem to control anything. How can I restore it to an 8 button switch and restore all the buttons to control what they were previously linked to? Thanks!

The first thing I see is on the front page is an announcement that Insteon can now be controlled by the new Harmony Home Hub! http://www.smarthome.com/insteon-logitech.html Since I am a fan an owner of two Harmony Ultimate's, I mostly likely will invest in the new Harmony Hub, its suggested retail price is $99. I would like to have a program execute when my Elk alarm disarms from a stay instant status only. So for example, if the alarm is disarmed from an armed away status, don't run. Is there a way to do this!

I recently had to restore backup to ISY994i IR/Pro after doing a hard reset. I noticed that restore generated couple of errors, I forgot to note them down. Is it normal to see errors during restore? Version 4.2.30. Thanks, Arun

I have tried for hours to get the ISY 99i/ir to link to a lamplink 2457d2. it comes up with the linking in progress screen but when I click the finish button, nothing happens. no status bar comes up at all. I am running firmware 3.3.10 in the ISY admin console 4.2.30 I cant figure out what is going wrong This unit hasn't been used for a couple of years due to a flicker with the LED lights I have in my house but I want to get this running again. so I unboxed it, did the upgrade to the 3.3.10 with no problems. it is connected to the plm, had an IP address, just will not link. What am I doing wrong?

Hello Everyone, I had my fanlinc working fine with scenes and a 4 button setup on a keypadlinc. I now would like to only control is using 2 buttons, one for increasing fan speed and one for decreasing fan speed I have a few questions: 1. Should the buttons be set to toggle or non-toggle modes. When i was using scenes, the buttons were set to non-toggle 2. I imagine i would have to create a state variable "Fan Speed" and write a program to adjust the value of the variable. Hi, I'm down to one problem that I'm having trouble solving. I've done everthing Steve recommended but still at a loss in how to fix. This issue has been ongoing, I thought I had solved it when I reset everything from scratch. I have a total of 4 micro devices, two micro dimmers (used in the bathrooms) and two micro on/off switch (one in bedroom and one in junkroom). The one in the junkroom had been in one of the bathrooms with that bathroom's motion sensor. I got the micro dimmers for the bathrooms and move the micro switches to the bedroom and junkroom. The recessed fixture Cree bulbs have performed well with my ISY9994i IR Pro and Insteon switches. However, in less than 2 years 2 of 6 have failed. They have a 10-year warranty, but I did not keep my sales receipt and other required information for replacement by the manufacturer. Have you experienced a similar failure rate? Given the high price of these bulbs this does not bode well for their future use in my home.

I tried to run an ApplianceLinc off the same socket that my UPS is plugged into. Also controlling it with a mini remote 4 button. It will not respond. I know that UPS' often kill the signal. BUT if I plug the ApplianceLinc into the UPS it works. Does this make sense? And if I changed my socket to a Dual Band OutletLInc, would that work with the controlled socket for a lamp and the uncontrolled socket for the UPS?
