What version of ISY integration do you use with Homebridge? The rodtoll one I was using for many years (not developed anymore, and the pradeep one broke pretty much everything on it for me, no longer developed also), until earlier this year, had issues with many zwave device (mentioned elsewhere here). If UD is going to make make Homebridge work on EISY, I wonder if they will be updating/supporting the Homebridge ISY plugin and bringing it up to date.

This bothered me at first and I asked the developer for more variations and the conclusion was that it had only one string to ignore and there was no plans to change. But then I made the decision to move all control over to HA and Polisy is functionally equivalent to a Home Assistant Addon now, just like Zigbee2MQTT or ESPHome. Over time, as I moved all non-insteon stuff over, this became less of an issue. Now on my Polisy there are only 38 Insteon devices left, no programs (except to sync LEDs), variables, network resources etc. and everything else is on HA.

HomeKit users already are in the HomeKit ecosystem and most likely use the built in Home App. Roomie Remote is mainly an AV remote control with added on HomeKit control which took probably minimal effort since its built into iOS anyways. What my point is, most HomeKit users probably don't have any Insteon or any reason to use EISY and probably just built their HK system around things that work... but if you have older legacy hardware and need an IoX to run Insteon, then that is an issue. (I accidentally deleted part of my previous post above so SSS response didn't make sense reading it by itself, but what I was asking SSS is to tell me why HomeKit user would want an EISY... and answer is RR )

The issue with the HomeBridge ISY plugins is that the are very old and do not work with newer devices in IoX such as Z-Wave binary switches - eg. a Zen32 or a Zen51 would not show up in HomeKit with HomeBridge. I would hope someone fixes it to make work better if gets installed in EISY. Hubitat has HomeKit support, not sure how they could afford it but maybe they sell lots?!? Or maybe that is why it is in Beta.

The Home Assistant integration doesn't bring it into ISY, rather it brings ISY into Home Assistant. You then do your automations/control in Home Assistant for these type of things. It is up to you how far you want to take it... some use a combination of keeping ISY running programs, and use Home Assistant only for certain things... but I eventually made the decision to move all programs over from ISY and replicate their function using Home Assistant Automations. ISY/Polisy is just for Insteon now. And Yes the FP2 works in Home Assistant but not natively, you use the HomeKit Controller integration in Home Assistant which emulates a HomeKit server, and you pair your devices to it instead of real homekit.... here is mine... (note I have other things paired also). Then it brings in Entities depending on how many zones you define in the app... I renamed mine and my wife's to tell if we are sitting in our spot on couch as a test LOL. Would be easy to make an automation that turns on an Insteon light (or any other device/entitity in Home Assistant), or could do things like notifications etc. Here is history of my seat so you can get an idea how works... I find sometimes it goes clear if I am sitting and the zones drift around a bit and are not fully accurate for something as small as a chair... the FP2 does not work as good as some of the videos you see on youtube (wonder how much they got paid), but I would say it would work good if you want to detect someone in larger areas around a room. FP2 is supposed to support matter in a future upgrade, and if it does properly it is possible it may work with IoX and ZMatter similarly.

Support thread for: PG3x v3.1.27 (May 22, 2023)

Ahh yes that worked! Seems to be an issue with Notification server... msg saying can't add in free edition... messed around with it a bit, but still it seemed it needed pushover api key which I didn't bother researching. UD Mobile seemed to sorta work sending a test notification... even though I am sure I could get it all working I removed since I no longer use. My one remaining Nodeserver works perfect now however -

Yes thanks, I guess would be too difficult for them to display something on screen Wonder how long it takes, still got this going on after about 20 min... -

ISY to EISY - Home assistant Migration - change port info?
brians replied to RichTJ99's topic in Home Assistant
You have to be more specific what is all greyed out. You are saying if you upgrade home assistant it stops working? Then what do you do in this case, revert to an older version of Home Assistant and continues to work? I upgrade my home assistant constantly and no issues... they have upgrades each month at minimum and never had issue with the ISY integration. -
Why not just leave the isy so they have option at least. it is possible they could figure it out or know someone that could. What good is it anyways now you have hubitat?
-
I have a couple aqara fp2 and they work fine in home assistant via homekit bridge. They say will support matter in future so when Iox supports that it could work possibly. There lots of options for Home Assistant and could even make your own using an ESP32 and mm wave board for maybe $20-30 total.
-
You can still add all those nodeservers into eisy and if you make a change using RR it should update and reflect in Eisy and vice versa so you can still automate using iox if all your things are added into it also. This sounds like what you are currently doing and should be fine Curious what you use hoobs for anyways - are you using that old isy Homebridge? Do you have lots of Insteon ?

Roomie remote looks like it’s primarily a media av control remote software and they just added on some other abilities over time like home automation control. They don’t even seem to support home assistant which is very popular. From reading your posts I see you are trying ecobee, hue, and myq. All these support native homekit (myq with HomeKit adapter or hoobs) so what is issue with these and roomie, since you say HomeKit devices automatically appear in roomie? Is there some reason you need to have everything go through eisy for roomie remote?

Hue version of Zigbee on their bulbs is compatible with pretty much all Zigbee coordinators... it is their hub that doesn't work with other Zigbee devices. I run several Hue on my Home Assistant direct to my Sonoff USB Zigbee coordinator using Zigbee2MQTT (ZHA also works). Advantage of Hub is you can use the Hue app and make fancier scenes and stuff... newer Hue bulbs support bluetooth but I don't think has advanced features in the app, and probably limitation of range. I don't use Hue Hub, I just want to change lights different colours and have option to add different devices... there are much cheaper bulbs which are not so bad -I also have like Sengled zigbee about 1/3 the cost. LIFX are WiFi and I don't recommend, but I have a few older ones of those that I use still. The issue people will have with pairing a Zigbee RGB bulb to IoX with ZMatter via Zigbee/Matter is how to change colors easily? Does UD Mobile support color picker/wheel?

Following up to my old post. Since moving to home assistant I can look at other options. Unfortunately this one is not as good as the fanlinc because does not have a light dimmer, just on/off. Tuya has a wifi model and can make work with local tuya on Home Assistant. This is basically what I wanted, and I only specified zwave because was only other option I would have presumed for IoX. Maybe possible to make nodeserver for Tuya?

ZWave/ZMatter Questions After Migration to Eisy with ZMatter
brians replied to theitprofessor's topic in ZMatter
Re: #3 Secure devices will still route through non-secure devices/nodes. You just lose basic association between different security types... but most don't use that anyways since it is a bit more difficult to setup. Basic association was finally supported in ZMatter version of Z-Wave on IoX and makes the devices control each other directly. It is significantly faster vs.central scene method due to IoX's slower handling of events. -
Zen17 works great and very reliable. All my iolincs died over time so would never buy another one again again. I’m moving away from insteon anyways and only devices that interest me are i3.

So is the Dial working 100% now? I was thinking of ordering one but am hesitant to do so.
-
You need to flash the firmware which requires taking apart. It is fairly simple to do. Once you do first time then it all makes sense. The blueprint allows easy configuration of it. Any future firmware updates are done OTA over wifi so never have to take apart again. Even if you change your wifi, it sets up a hotspot if cannot connect after a while so you can web in and reconfigure.

I found a 2 gang converter plate so it looks a lot nicer now. I also installed one in front entrance, replacing another Insteon keypadlinc, in a 3 gang... Since the nspanel controls two of previous switches, I only needed to keep one additional switch. I cut a dual wall plate with blank to fit. I think it turned out nice.

I don’t think you can just turn on a station without specifying a run time. So even if you started a station from isy, opensprinkler would eventually shut off after the runtime. Maximum 18 hours runtime per station. Only thing I don’t like about opensprinkler is you cannot change the order of stations in a program - eg have 4,2.1.3 instead is always 1.2.3.4. Or a huge deal and I reworded mine so it waters in an order I like. With isy though could queue up zones in any order.

Opensprinkler. There is a nodeservers also for it.

ISY to EISY - Home assistant Migration - change port info?

I use a pfSense router with Acme Certificates (letsencrypt), and HAProxy. I use to access things like Home Assistant, OpenSprinkler remotely, but can also be used locally with the FQDN... also setup Dynamic DNS via GoDaddy. I never had issue connecting to local IP address of PG3, but I rarely do and do not see a reason why I would need to connect to it often anyways - it's sort of set and forget and not really much to look at in there. Are these errors you are getting preventing you from accessing the site, or is it just an insecure site warning that you can click through?

Migrate to ZMatter is only applicable if you were using the older ZWave like the 500 series in ISY994i, or the Zooz 700 series USB in Polisy. If you already migrated to ZMatter from ISY994i then there is no need to migrate it again if you ever move to an EISY. Just make sure you have a ZWave backup.
