Stu- If you add an ISY to the ISY Finder using the portal URL (as found under ISY information in the portal - see attached screenshot) for the ISY, then attempt to connect to that entry in the ISY finder, you will have to use the portal credentials to log into that console. I do this now for my office ISY which is behind a firewall that I cannot port forward through. Connecting to the ISY using it's IP address, for via port forwarding will use the ISY credentials instead. As others have pointed out above, this can be confusing as there is no indication from the admin console login dialog as to what method was used to connect. Hope this helps clarify. -Xathros

It's software only. Nothing physical will be shipping. -Xathros

It all works fine for me in Safari, Chrome and Firefox on MAC OSX 10.11.3. After filling in all of the info in the portal, all fields in this display are populated. -Xathros

Very nice job Keith. Welcome to the UDI forums. Maybe Michel could add a link to this post into post #1 of this thread to make this easier to find. -Xathros

Hi Guys, The UBI is an interesting little voice activated android computer backed by what else? ... A cloud service. Initial setup involves using a smartphone App to connect to a WiFi signal broadcast from the UBI, then using the App you can program the UBI to connect to your regular WiFi. Once that is done, you create an account in the UBI Portal and associate your UBI's ID with that account. From there, you can crete "Lessons" that define what the UBI can do. Some lessons listen for utterances then execute commands, trigger IFTTT, call URLs, play music, turn On/Off various supported IoT things etc. Unlike the Echo, you can have UBI actions triggered by an API call to the UBI portal. I use this feature to trigger a number of different announcements via ISY network resources. I do also have UBI lessons that call ISY programs for things like: Good morning, Good night, secure perimeter, Game Over (Blocks the kids XBox from my network). These are things I will transition to Echo as the Echo integration matures. UBI is capable of making local calls to the ISY's /REST interface. It does still require cloud access as that is where the voice processing takes place and the lessons are stored but the end call to the ISY happens locally from the UBI->ISY on your lan. This was a feature the I and several others lobbied for early in the UBI beta and, to my surprise, they were actually pretty quick in implementing that for us. The voice recognition in the UBI is OK. Not as good as Echo but functional. It does not work well if there is background noise from a TV or music playing. UBI false triggers quite often during normal conversation or when the TV is playing near by. That said, I've yet to see any commands executed from a false activation. UBI development is slow but seems to be steady and there is a small but fairly dedicated bunch manning the UBI forums. I haven't spent much time there recently. Last time I was there, a number of folks had bailed out to the Echo camp. There very well may be a future for UBI if development continues and it's capabilities keep growing. At the moment, compared to Echo, it feels more like an Alpha stage product. If Amazon decides not to bring announcement capabilities to the Echo, UBI could find a niche filling that void. @bernieb- If you have the UBIs already, it would be worth putting them to use. Hope that helps. -Xathros

I do this with my UBI. I have a number of announcements triggered by ISY network resource rules that let me know when the washer or dryer have finished, an exterior door is left open too long, my pellet stove fails to ignite, my well pump runs too long, a leak is detected or the dog is out of water. I am quite hopeful that this capability will come to the echo at some point and I will be able to retire the UBI. Hope this helps. -Xathros

Yes. If you are using the UDI portal connected to your Amazon account, all it requires is that both the Echo and the ISY have internet access. If instead, you are using the Hue emulator on a PC or RPi, then your emulator machine needs to be powered and online as well. -Xathros

I believe it is accessed from the Purchase Modules menu entry on the ISY Admin console. -Xathros

Two Echos in two different homes with two different ISY
Xathros replied to gduprey's topic in Amazon Echo
I believe a single ISY cannot support multiple portals hence the choice between the UDI and MLConnect portals. I do see that my Echo has a name. I suspect my next echo can have a different name. I wonder if the connected home interface and/or skill have access to the Echo name. If so, it may be possible to restrict certain devices/scenes/programs to a specific Echo. -Xathros -
Two Echos in two different homes with two different ISY
Xathros replied to gduprey's topic in Amazon Echo
Thats a bit disappointing. Is this a limitation of the Echo or of the portal? Would it take multiple Amazon accounts, multiple portal accounts or both to make this work? -Xathros -
I found I needed to first Dissociate the portal from my Amazon account via the portal (I had previously linked them before the connected home aspect was released), then Follow the link at the top of this thread to connect my Amazon account to the portal, then return to the portal and relink the portal to my Amazon account before the ISY showed up under connected home in my iOS Alexa app. Basically, just dissociate all of the accounts then reconnect them again. Then after the ISY was listed, before it would discover any devices, I also had to "Alexa, tell Izzy to select ISY" and select my "Home" ISY even though my home ISY was listed as my preferred ISY on the portal. She wouldn't discover devices from either of my ISY's prior to that. I'm not sure the preferred selection on the portal has anything to do with the Alexa/Amazon interface. Hope that helps. -Xathros

You would use the App or ISY network resource to Turn On/Off/Brighten/Dim/Change color etc. I cannot speak for the bulbs as I don't have any of those yet (Larry might) but the LED strips remember their last color and brightness when turned On or if power is lost then restored. Also, if off when power is lost, they stay off when power is restored unlike the damn Hue bulbs. The API is a bit clunky but very workable from the ISY and I've been quite happy with the reliability so far. -Xathros

I realize this is a reply to an old post but for the benefit of others finding this: Have a look at MiLight strips/bulbs for ISY controllable RGBW/RGBWW. Just be be clear, You can connect to the ISY from Mobilinc using the UDI portal just as you can with MLConnect however, MLConnect offers some additional value added features that you won't get if you switch to using the UDI portal. I believe the custom push notifications are one of features you would lose along with Today view widgets (though the widgets seem to work fine for me without MLConnect) Using the UDI Portal opens up access to Alexa and somewhere down the road IFTTT support/integration is said to be planned. Choices are good! -Xathros

I can see my connected home requests logged under Settings / History in my Alexa app. Is this not there for you? -Xathros

Two Echos in two different homes with two different ISY
Xathros replied to gduprey's topic in Amazon Echo
Hmmm. I won't be able to test for that until my second echo arrives. Quite interested to see what you find. I would hope and expect that the selection of ISY is local to the echo and not the Amazon cloud. -Xathros -
Two Echos in two different homes with two different ISY
Xathros replied to gduprey's topic in Amazon Echo
It's a bit odd. Select the first ISY, discover devices, test. Select second ISY, discover devices, test. All good so far. Now, when I look at the Alexa app, I see devices and programs listed from both ISYs but the deselected ISY's devices and programs show as offline. Telling Alexa to turn On/Off an item from the selected ISY works as expected. Telling Alexa to turn On/Off an item from the deselected ISY results in an "Ok" but the device/program on the deselected ISY does not respond to the request. I think we should receive an error like "This device does not exist on the selected ISY" or something similar in this case. -Xathros -
There should be a link below that box to link to your amazon account. Click that link and provide the requested details, the box will get filled in with your Amazon id. -Xathros

Two Echos in two different homes with two different ISY
Xathros replied to gduprey's topic in Amazon Echo
Via the UDI Portal and Amazon cloud. Intra-cloud communication. I have tested both pointing the local echo at the local ISY as well as at the remote ISY and both work equally as well. -Xathros -

Two Echos in two different homes with two different ISY
Xathros replied to gduprey's topic in Amazon Echo
I too am interested in this. I have an ISY at the office and one at home. While both ISYs do communicate for some things, I'd rather have the Echos linked only to the local ISY. I kmow I can tell the skill which ISY to address but I don't believe that affects the connected home aspect. Is there or will there be a way to address certain spoken entries in the portal to a specific ISY? Thanks. -Xathros -
Working fine for me as well. -Xathros

Hi Teken- I feel your frustration and that of others still suffering from these events. My thoughts and comments in Blue above. -Xathros
-
That won't work. Control events are only generated when devices are manually actuated at their paddles. When commanded on by a remote linked scene/device, status changes but no control event is generated. Since devices don't transmit their status changes unless queried, the ISY is unaware of the All-On, thus the need to periodically query a device for an unexpected state change. -Xathros
-
While I haven't had anymore All-On events, I did build a program to watch for them, notify me and shut things down in the event of another All-On. I used a spare Lamplinc module and plugged it in alongside my phase bridge at the main panel. No load connected and I keep this module Off. I have a program that queries the module once every minute. I have another program that triggers if that module's status changes to "On" and sends a notification and turns off my "Almost Everything" scene with the assumption that if that module turned on, an All-On event has occurred. Hope this helps. -Xathros
