  1. If your PLM is only six months old its eligible for a full replacement under Smartlabs 2 year warranty period.
  2. Can you elaborate on the section high lighted in red a little bit more??
  3. Hello Gerry, The closest thing I have seen to what you describe is (IF) there is a power disturbance. This is where the PLM does not come up before the ISY is looking for it upon power restore. That is the closet thing I have seen first hand but this would be noted by the fact the front of the ISY LED's would show an error status on one or more of the LED's. Many of us have avoided this situation by placing the ISY on a UPS backup system. You sure can.
  4. Because many users do not have Z-Wave as their secondary protocol installed into the ISY. For those that do going with Z-Wave is an alternative for sure. Or in the case of others who have a ELK alarm system that is another method or any 3rd party security alarm system. The reality is, unless the GDO maker is the provider of said (remote) controller. There is no product on the open market that is supposed to initiate the same, none. We as tinkerers have made it so and in doing so have to accept the responsibility of having a 3rd party device integrating with something that was never designed from the on set to support such a feature. People have to take responsibility for their own actions unless they want to live in a nanny State like CA, NY! Back On Topic: Won't this be a kick in the face when the solution to the ALL ON / ALL OFF is found to be something so small and simple???
  5. Now, you're all knowing! Welcome to the brotherhood of energy conservation. [emoji4] your devices should arrive with the most up to date firmware. If not, please do update both units to ensure the most features. Configure all networking attributes first. So you can talk to the box's if any trouble shooting is required. Please take sometime to read over all the PDF manuals to get a basic understanding of the install process and setup. Label all CT's at the end of the wire for ease of install and future trouble shooting. Ensure AC power is present for all three transformers: Dash Box, GEM, GEM PT. Should you run into any problems please do let us know. Ideals are peaceful - History is violent
  6. Hello Blueman2, I must stress the following point(s) so balanced information is stated for all to see. The GDO kit has been sold for more than 7 years which equates to tens of thousands of units in the wild. This issue has never existed until recently and in my humble estimation seems to impact an extremely small portion of the general public. I can safely say out of the tens of thousands of Insteon users with the GDO kit. There have been less than 100 people who have reported this ALL ON / ALL OFF issue. To date this ALL ON / ALL OFF issue has not appeared in any other software / hardware controller from any maker, none. This includes every version of controller Smartlabs has created and sold to the public. Steps have been taken from Smartlabs to remove the ALL ON / ALL OFF command from the device table from the PLM and future Insteon devices. The reality is, no one knows exactly how to repro this issue where it is measurable in a closed state. My expectation is once this information is validated and proven. This critical piece of information will be shared to the UDI forum members in a concise manner which all can apply and recreate if need be.
  7. The only time it should try to do that is if it's part of a linked associated scene. Are you sure you haven't selected add a new device to an existing scene? Plus a battery device must be awaken to write to the device. Ideals are peaceful - History is violent
  8. Hello Bert, Answers inline and if there are any other related questions please do ask them here until you get registered. We all look forward to seeing your project and stand ready to serve.

  10. Agreed on many points listed above. This is probably why I have waited so very long in integrating my HVAC to Insteon. Given I have seven T1800 at the ready for install they simply monitor temperature / humidity in specific zones in the home. I live in the cold *** north and I can't allow anything to cut off the heat when its -45'C! This is probably why I have spent so much time designing and integrating so many environmental fail overs that at some point will bolster the Insteon TSTAT to ensure there is always a 3rd party device collaborating the temperatures in and around the home. Sometimes its the KISS principle we all should follow and adhere to. As much as I like to automate my life and my home there is a constant reminder some of this will be abused, or falter at some point. I am interested in seeing what the OP does moving forward with the ISY because this will be quite telling for those who follow.
  11. Well, the reality is all of us are guilty in circumventing what isn't supposed to be there from the start. This time five years ago Liftmaster never had a remote access GDO, they do now. But, before that the GDO was line of sight and that was on purpose because you had to be in view of this device to operate it. Given the massive emergence of remote connectivity this has cascaded in allowing all of us the ability to control almost anything in and around the home. The GDO kit and its like has never been a endorsed piece of hardware from any GDO maker. We all simply did this so the fault is on the end user not the maker who simply wanted to fill a market space of wants. Xathros suggestion is the best solution moving forward since you have the hardware in place.
  12. Blueman2, If you have been here long enough and have read my past replies here and abroad the SH forum. You know I have no problem throwing Smartlabs / Smarthome under the bus when warranted. Having said that, Smarthome / Smartlabs does not advertise their wares are security devices and makes in big bold print common sense and related hardware must be used at all times to ensure health and safety for all. At this point the easiest thing to do is remove the ISY for awhile and sit and wait. If the ALL ON / ALL OFF comes back there are other outside factors causing this. I've asked many people to follow this simple yet effective line of thought and trouble shooting and not one has ever done so, none. You will be the first to drop the hammer and see what happens. The reality is as many have already stated this issue has never been seen before. Now, we see a smattering of people having this erratic behavior from time to time. As you may be aware the latest PLM v2.0 with firmware v.9E has removed the ALL ON / ALL OFF command from its table. Yet this issue continues to persist this isn't a PLM issue at this point in time. Smartlabs is also in the middle of removing this command from all future Insteon devices also. The reality is if you remove both the controller / PLM and you still see this issue you have bigger worries moving forward.
  13. I have one reserved for s ceiling fan / light combo. But won't be enrolled until next quarter. Ideals are peaceful - History is violent
  14. I've had great success with the mini remote and overall it provides lots of flexibility in placement or install. I have several in place as a virtual KPL on a wall where there is no AC power. That in itself has been a god send! I have another one mounted under my car visor and it activates a very specific *Away State* in the HA system which is tied to a secondary alarm feature. I still do covet the much larger 2440 RL as it offers some features not available in the mini. Battery life for the micro is great given the daily use I apply to it. The only negative is not having the ability to apply custom keys besides using a printer. Otherwise it's a rock solid product in my mind. Ideals are peaceful - History is violent
  15. Also, not too sure if they have resolved the past issue of buzzing. This noise appears to be present on the relay KPL only so keep that in mind. Ideals are peaceful - History is violent
  16. One other thing to keep in mind the relay version is thicker. The relay version also has a higher power handling capability. Note, the relay version also has a much larger ground wire so this could pose a install issue. Ideals are peaceful - History is violent
  17. One is a switch relay the other is a dimmer. Ideals are peaceful - History is violent
  18. Hello Alex, This would explain what I saw too last night! Much thanks for that insight as I thought I was going mad with all the other issues I've been seeing as of late! [emoji30][emoji34][emoji36] Ideals are peaceful - History is violent
  19. I am taking a random stab this is related to multi node support which is pending the beta 5.XX release. If it's not that then the device obviously needs Z-Wave support which I am sure UDI will add when time permits. I suggest you create a formal ticket so it's tracked and they can give you an ETA if it's pending 5.XX release. Ideals are peaceful - History is violent
  20. Links are retained when power is removed. The Insteon bulb returns to its last known state upon power loss. Ideals are peaceful - History is violent
  21. I would think it comes down to what kind of interface is available from the existing TSTAT. Knowing this will allow you and others to provide some feedback. If you could provide a link to the product in place this would be a good start for others review and consume. Ideals are peaceful - History is violent
  22. You can certainly try and see what happens nothing lost but your time!

  24. Depending upon the light fixture if you toggle it on/off the light will stay on without a timer. If it doesn't have that feature turning off the micro switch will remove power from the light until you turn it back on. All the sense wire does is inform the Insteon micro the light is on/off. This provides you a current known state of on/off. Ideals are peaceful - History is violent
  25. The Micro is a dual band device so both RF/ Powerline. Ideals are peaceful - History is violent
