The ISY wont recognize the device in question so I cant see what info it lists off. (I'm assuming the node display is in the GUI) Drew

Hi Michel; How can I find out if the SWl is V.35? Is it printed on the unit itself? Why would v.35s cause issues? Drew

I tried to turn the scene off from the GUI No luck. I seem to be having system wide failure here. Every time I open the ISY GUI I get at least ten or so errors cant communicate. If its noise I'm stumped. The new thing I have are LED lights. If the LED lights are off do they still create noise? Should I try to take them right out and see if that works? (I only ask because no one seems to think its the LEDs but I cant think of anything else thats new) Thus far I cant control scenes from the GUI I cant add a SWL that previously worked fine. I'm getting multiple (17 at last count) comm errors) at log in. Programs don't work. Is there something I can do like reboot or re install? Is it JAVA? This is more than line noise. I don't have anything new to create noise. …mother... Drew

I tried adding a three second wait. Still no result. Do you think its to do with what I'm dealing with here? viewtopic.php?f=28&t=12521 This may be related. I have a remotelinc2. I have it trigger two things at the moment. An old lamplinc which it does usually on the second click It's also to trigger a KPL button which it always has a hard time doing. I'm forever clicking it until I want to give up. The KPL in question is a device I cant write updates to. If I can get that working smoother with all this poking around, I'd once again be a happy man.

I did exactly that and it doesnt seem to shut them all off. (hence the posting of the problem) I think I have to go through and figure out what's up with the communication issues. Would unplugging the ISY to reboot it help? Drew

Hi guys; I'm hoping I can do this. I have a KPL button that turns on some lights in the basement. (lets say 5 lights for argument) When I press the KPL button off, can I have the KPL also trigger a scene that turns off ALL the lights in the basement? (not just the 5 lights the KPL button turns on) Its a little frustrating when I have to go down to shut off a light not controlled by the KPL button's scene. Just wondering. Drew

My programs still don't trigger. I switched the contents of the CONF like you mentioned. Is it because I programmed the programs with the old ISY? (Clearly I'm just swinging in the dark here haha) If I have to as a last resort I can try to delete a program, redo it and see if it works. I assume it will I can spend the next little while changing them one by one if that's the only option. Will you be working on the KPL bug? Drew

I switched from the 99 to the 994i (found a proper backup) The GUI looks the same as far as the programs and scenes I had but now I find that theres a lot of discrepancies as far as programs etc… from what I had previously. For example I have a night timer that now turns on a different light and my programs don't seem to work. Is there a difference (besides the obvious) between the 99i and the 994i that would decode some stuff from a backup differently than its predecessor? I also don't receive emails from the ISY when a notification should be sent. +edit+ (fixed this issue, it was switched from default) (I also see scenes that i didnt have before, remnants from old scenes? they are named Scene 97 etc…) Just asking before I have to pick through everything one by one and fix them. Drew

Sounds like the best choice is to use the older back up and re program what I find missing Thank you for all the help. Drew

Hi guys; Quick (and maybe stupid) question. I just received my 994i to replace a non functioning 99i Can i just pop out the smart cards and transfer the data with my computer card reader to retain all my scenes etc. or do I have to start again? I have a back up but a usual its probably a few months old and I'd have to re program a few things. Just asking. Drew

This stuff is beyond awesome. I cannot wait to get the hang of this. I'm going to drive the wife crazy. (That is why we buy this stuff, is it not?) Thank you again. If I have any problems understanding the nomenclature I'll post back. Drew

Im sorry if I was unclear. I know nothing of the integer and variable of which you speak. The numbered list in my last post is what I'm trying to accomplish. Where can I learn about integers? Your paragraph that starts off "A bit about variables in the ISY" leaves my head spinning.
-
Okay, so my head is spinning with the integer thing. (I just saw the tab now for the first time if that lets you in on my apparent ignorance with this) I'm wondering what to do as far as this goes. You are 100% correct in that 1. When I press RL-B off Scene A and Scene B shut off 2. When I press RL-B on, it triggers Scene A 3. When I press RL-B again, it knows Scene A is on and triggers Scene B 4. This would toggle back and forth Do impart knowledge. If this integer thing-a-ma-bob is what I think it is, it's going to be the new cat's *** around these parts. Drew (note: No cat's will be harmed in these proceedings)
-
Thank you Xathros. RL-B is in Toggle mode so is what I have. Works fine Also, is correct as well. I'm unclear on what " " and means. But I think this is exactly what I'm looking for. Drew

Could it then start with; If SCENE A OR B are OFF then Button B turns SCENE A ON
-
Hi Guys; I'm hoping to be able to have one button on my remotelinc trigger two scenes. I want it to go something like this. (for the sake of argument, i'll use the B button, and the B button triggers the SCENES A and If SCENE A is true, and button B is SWITCHED ON then SCENE B I would like to be able to toggle between them. so if SCENE B is true, and button B on SWITCHED ON then SCENE A and so forth. Is this possible? Drew
-
That seems to have fixed it. Thank you everyone. Drew
-
So I started all this to try to replace one SWL with another. Now that I'm back up and running I've discovered the new SWL, Replaced the SWl with the other as far as the ISY GUI is concerned, but I cant get it to react to the scenes. I can control it with the GUI It also has a little green icon beside it in the GUI. Drew

looks like I'm back in business. As an aside, I unplugged the power to the ISY and it still had power until I unplugged it from the PLM. The PLM powers the ISY? Drew

I'm using Snow Leopard and I don't have any airport stuff. Just a D-link router Drew

!@#$%^&*() I just went into the furnace room where all the gear is (I should have gone there first clearly, sorry for wasting everyone's time, and yes, the next time the car fails I'll check for gas first !@#$%^&*() Anyhow, the two network cables were unplugged (I'll get to the bottom of that with the daughter tonight) How do I hook it back up? Port A on the ISY 99i goes to the PLM and the Network goes to my router? That's how I plugged it in and I only see the power light. Still nothing on the ISY Finder. I switched the network cable joining the ISY to the router and still nothing Drew

My Airport utility is still 5.6.1 But it just seems to look for wireless devices. (I've never used Airport Utility so I may be using it wrong) Last login: Sun Feb 10 19:30:24 on console Andrew-Brideaus-iMac-2:~ Andrew$ arp -a ? Let me know where to go from here. Also, don't be sorry for what Apple does. A true Apple user likes their product, not their practices. (I should print that on a t-shirt) All this started off by me wanting to switch out one SWL for another. Drew

Got it but the ISY Finder can't find my ISY. It asks for the URL. Drew
-
Hi Michel; It's 10.6.8 I find that when I type 192.168.0.104 I can access the ISY but when the GUI pops up it endlessly keeps "initializing System" That's as far as I've gotten. Drew
