@larryllix do you see any lag on the SiLab controller when used to turn on/off switches? I've tested Polisy with a Leviton and Zlink plugin switches paired with a Zooz dongle so far and lag is about 2 to 3 sec. The switches are in the same room and there are no hops. I'm comparing to an Insteon PLM/switch which is pretty much instantaneous. I'm wondering if this is just a z-wave thing I have to live with? Thanks.

Testing Z-Wave Dimmer on Polisy - Why slower than Insteon?
mmb replied to mmb's topic in Z-Wave - Series 700
Update: I tested on my ISY994 with a Z-Wave module and behaviour is identical to the Policy. -
Are you using wifi? My Launcher works when on Ethernet but when I switch to WiFi the Launcher goes blank but I can SSH and use the Polisy webapp. I also manually typed the information as well but get Not Found. It must be the latest update because it was working before.

@Michel Kohanim I have a ZLINK Plug-in Dimmer ZL-PD-100 that doesn't update the Ploisy controller at all on a manual button press. My Leviton plugin module is working fine in both directions (although a little laggy). I contacted the reseller and his testing indicated it was updating but on another type of controller. The module works fine when controlling from the Polisy to the module. He suggested I contact UDI for support. Is there further refinement to z-wave that may get this thing running or should I return it?

@brians let me know how the ZL-PD-100 dimmer tests for you. I still don't receive controller status updates on a manual button press. Unlike the Leviton which updates properly. Both have a still lag of about 3 seconds. -
Really @tazman? Not for me, I tried a manual update and nope. Update: Cleared the cache once again and it worked. All good, but not sure about the button.
-
@Techman I had the same error when I selected LAN in the Launcher. I'm not sure if you have a Cloud option but the Launcher worked fine with that option.
-
@Michel Kohanim just a data point I had the same mismatch error when selecting LAN in the Launcher. However, selecting Cloud in the Launcher and the Admin console launches properly.

Testing Z-Wave Dimmer on Polisy - Why slower than Insteon?

@mjrush @lilyoyo1I had a Zooz 4-in-1 multisensor which was really nice but I couldn't make it stay on Celsius, it would keep flipping back the F - so I returned it. The reseller blamed the controller. Anyway, it had a motion sensor and it seemed to work flawlessly on Polisy. I had it trigger a scene to turn Insteon and Z-Wave plugin modules. Status was updating properly. It's interesting how some devices don't seem to work completely with Polisy. Maybe future code updates will address. And I'll try a Aeotec multisensor sometime in the future. -

Thanks @brians, is the monitoring program look for Hail or something? I'll try it out if you have details. Yes an updated Polisy can use a Zooz USB Z-Wave dongle but I understand another dongle works as well but forgot the name. I use it in conjunction with a USB Insteon PLM. I understand the serial PLM will work too. -

@RB3 I have a ISY994 Z-Wave module that I've never installed. What is confusing is not understanding what I see in Polisy with Z-Wave as being normal or not. Based on comments, maybe I should install the module so I can compare behavior. -

@brians yes ISY with Z-Wave on Polisy. It works fine but a few annoying glitches still to be ironed out. I gather you are using an ISY994 for Z-Wave, so maybe the Polisy delays I'm seeing are issues in the beta code. A manual press of the Leviton module gives this: Thu 12/30/2021 09:24:38 AM : [ZWAVE-RX ] [010B00A800011602820100B278] REQ APPLICATION_COMMAND_HANDLER_BRIDGE Thu 12/30/2021 09:24:48 AM : [ Time] 09:24:48 2(0) But the Polisy doesn't do anything with it. The Zlink module doesn't seem to send anything - the Seller is checking for firmware updates because he says another module/controller he has is sending commands. 'What's involved in a Hail Program? -

Here you go. Event Viewer Log Level 3 for Turning Off then On a scene with both an Insteon and Z-Wave Dimmer Plug-in Modules. Network connectivity to Polisy is over Wifi. When I press the on/off button on the module I don't see any updates in the controller. Nothing in the event viewer either. The reseller tested for me on his Vera system and he says the controller updates properly. Update 2: I received my Leviton DZPD3-2BW Z-Wave plugin dimmer and a quick test shows a slight lag of about 1 sec on a on/off from from the Polisy controller. A manual on/off updates the controller properly. So something is wrong with the Zlink. -
Testing Z-Wave Dimmer on Polisy - Why slower than Insteon?
mmb posted a topic in Z-Wave - Series 700
I'm testing a z-wave plug-in dimmer with Polisy using the Zooz dongle and I'm seeing a 2 or 3 second delay when turning on/off compared to a similar Insteon plug-in dimmer. The dimmer is working perfectly aside from the slight slowness. It is a ZLINK Plug-in Dimmer ZL-PD-100 and sits about 15 ft from the Polisy. Is slowness an inherent characteristic of z-wave? There is lots of online discussion about slowness and it can be attributed to just about everything under the sun. I can live with it, just curious. -
That's good. I just noticed my gateway isn't displayed in the Polisy console, so maybe there's some small display issues to iron out. It is set though... $ netstat -rn Routing tables Internet: Destination Gateway Flags Netif Expire default 192.168.0.1 UGS wlan0 127.0.0.1 link#4 UH lo0 192.168.0.0/24 link#7 U wlan0 192.168.0.109 link#7 UHS lo0 And DNS is fine. $ grep "nameserver" /etc/resolv.conf nameserver 1.1.1.1 nameserver 9.9.9.9 nameserver 8.8.8.8

Is the dhcp client running? service dhclient status wlan0 I suppose if you can't get into Polisy to check that would be a problem.
-
Did you try the power down unplug ethernet reboot?
-
That was exactly my experience and the DNS fields were blank. I'm wondering if the Ethernet disconnect screws Polisy up? According to the promo info: Native support for 3G/4G modems gives you the ability to go off the grid. Literally! And, if you are one of those maximum-connectivity types, get the Polisy PRO model which comes standard with Dual Band WiFi and Bluetooth (4.0). Anyway, my last try I did this: sudo shutdown -h now, unplug power and Ethernet, then power up. I see this now. And from my Unifi
-
Interesting, as noted I see six SSIDs with the same name (2.4/5) for my three access points. My Unifi system manages connectivity steering but with Polisy I had to select a random SSID from the list. Currently Polisy is associated with 2.4 and it's operating properly.
-
Hi Michel, I ended up moving the Polisy out of the server closet and into a new temporary space and the wifi associated properly and very quickly. This is the same server closet that was giving the ISY994 X10 grief. Anyway it is auto-populating the launcher properly. I still see multiple SSIDs but that a minor inconvenience.
-
I may try that. As mentioned, after selecting a random Mabel SSID it finally does acquire an IP but very slowly. The launcher doesn't respond properly as there's no drop down to run the ISY console.
-
That response was not helpful at all and it was more of a rant. Interesting that you got it running on a vm though.
-
Thanks I learned a long time ago to keep dhcp separate, so it's on a Windows Server 2016.
-
The ssid and password are there, thanks. I did a reboot but wifi but Polisy won't connect. Although it will eventually over several hours.
-
Maybe my Polisy is special? There's definitely the hardware for wifi and magically it grabbed an IP started working. But you're right, I can't connect to the ISY, just Polyglot.
