  1. Hi all, I want to move my Polisy to a new temporary location that unfortunately does not have an ethernet connection, so I figured it's a good time to try the wifi. In Polisy Settings I see six SSIDs of the same name. I suspect it might be because I run a Unifi system with three APs and two bands (6)? I tried to connect Polisy to one of the SSID/APs and entered the password but doesn't seem to connect. Ifconfig confirms that it fails. Am I missing something? Thanks
  2. If there was, they're long gone.
  3. My first try to add a Z-Wave device to my Polisy with a Zooz dongle is failing because of security problem. The Z-Wave device is detected right away but then I get a message : The Z-Wave network failed to securely (S0) add your device Please remove the device and try adding it again. Which I did several times with the same result. The device is a Zooz 4 in 1 sensor with motion temp etc. Any insight as to what is happening? Update 1: It looks like the device may have been previously owned and was paired to another system. Doing a factory reset fixed the problem then a double click initiated adding properly. Update 2: If you live in Canada you know we use Celsius, not Fahrenheit. Fortunately the 4-in-1 can be set to C by changing the parameter settings and writing them to the device, which does work with a bit of effort. Unfortunately the device has a scheduled wake up (12 hrs default) which for some reason resets the device back to default value of F. I contacted the manufacturer and they pointed to the Polisy as the problem ... of course. I suggested selling a 4-in-1 device with Celsius as a default given most of the world use the metric system. Thank you for the update. We haven't seen issues with switching one scale to another on different platforms such as SmartThings or Hubitat which are the most popular systems used by our customers so this seems a problem specific to ISY. If it keeps switching back to Fahrenheit for you, we would recommend consulting ISY tech support if they can identify anything on the back end causing this. I'm currently debating returning it for another sensor.
  4. I checked Amazon.com and the USB PLMs seem to be gone. Amazon.ca has them for $187 which is ridiculous AND they ship from the US (weird). Based on what I see on Smart Home's website, it looks like the Insteon days are coming to an end. That said, I called SH to replace a dead Insteon Hub, which they did with no problem. The SH rep said it's business as usual and they just waiting for Insteon product.
  5. @kzboray thanks for the MS SSH instructions, although I still like Putty.
  6. I have the same question about the new Polisy device. I have one but I'm not even sure what kind of storage it uses - anybody know?
  7. Thanks, interesting about the phantom node. I have one called Multilevel Switch with the repeater I installed.
  8. I added a Zooz and Aeotec Range Extender 5 as well. I did not expect to see two z-wave devices being added when I added the repeater - a multilevel switch and the repeater itself. I'm not entirely sure I understand why, do you see the same thing? Update: Reading further on in this forum thread, I gather phantom nodes can pop up when adding z-wave devices. The message is to just ignore them.
  9. Nice to have company I tried the same command and got the same result but still stuck on 5.1.1 Edit: also lost my PLM in the process. Update 1: Apparently the update process is quite slow, so leaving it overnight finally completed the update. Update 2: I took a wild *** shot in the dark and replaced the USB cable and that fixed it. I've never seen that before. PS: I did re-seat the original cable several times.
  10. Seems I'm not able to upgrade to 5.2.0 from 5.1.1. I've tried the console and it rebooted but did nothing. I tried SSH commands outlined by Michel but no joy, they process but after the reboot I'm still stuck on 5.1.1. Are there any other tricks that I can use to upgrade? Thanks in advance.
  11. Thanks, that's exactly what I'm looking for.
  12. I happened to be talking to Insteon support today and he indicated they have a shipment of wall switches and receptacles in port waiting for transport. Plug-in modules are impacted by the chip shortage and there is no information regarding shipments in the near future. I'm looking into an ISY ZWave module along with a plug-in dimmer for my brother.
  13. Thanks, the responses seem to indicate that the user interface is somehow different for ZWave than the standard ISY/Insteon interface to deal with "changes to Central Scene" and "workarounds"? Is this the case? He's considering the ZWave 500 module for the ISY and a Zwave plug-in dimmer module.
  14. My brother was going to purchase a plug-in dimmer module for his bedroom but after checking online has basically determine there is nothing left in Canada in the Insteon line aside from a few styles of wall switches. He asked me what his options are and I suggested ZWave as a possibility but he would have to purchase the ZWave module for his ISY 994. He was curious to know if the experience is relatively seamless to install and run a new ZWave device on the ISY with the ZWave module as it was with the Insteon devices. I have no clue so I thought maybe the forum members can chime in with their experience. Has anyone installed the ZWave module on their ISY? How is the ZWave device experience? Is the ISY/ZWave compatibility good or are there gotchas that he should know about?

    GFIC Tripping

I had the similar problem, so I removed the GFCI breaker and replaced it with a normal breaker, then installed a GFCI receptacle with a high current Insteon wall switch to control it. I haven't had a problem in years.

    Zwave Three way

Which Z-wave switches are you looking at? Interesting, I didn't realize the Z-wave 700 spec incorporates a repeating (mesh?) technology.
  17. I had exactly the same problem. X10s would appear in the log by the thousands with the same device ID you're seeing. Before investigating too much, try moving the ISY to a new location and away from a noisy device that may be causing the X10s. In my case I moved the ISY from my small server room to my office about 25 ft away. I'm not 100% sure but the X10 messages coincided with installation of a new large battery backup UPS in the server room.
  18. Hi Michel, I performed the Polisy/ISY update and it went perfectly. That said I continue to have problems with "Mail Server Failure" when I "Test" email - see image. The odd thing is it does send the test email. My ISY 994 has the identical email configuration and it works fine. I did the usual reboot etc. Is there anything I can check in the file system to ensure it's config'd properly? Thanks!
  19. Somebody on another thread mentioned Hubitat which can do Alexa, Google Home, Lutron, Zigbee, Z-Wave. I had a look and it's pretty interesting, in some respects similar to the ISY/Insteon combo. No mesh though, so coverage could be a pain.
  20. I was interested by your recommendation of Hubitate so did a bit of reading. I guess it depends on the size of your house but running multiple hubs for zwave could be a pain and could get expensive. The zigbee implementation sounds more interesting but I'm not sure how well supported it is by the device manufacturers. The controller implementation is not pretty - won't say more because I actually haven't had a hands on. Insteon's mesh implementation is rock solid but the PLM really really lets the system integrity down. And the X10 BS needs to be deleted. This said I might get one to play around with....
  21. As the title says I was curious to know if there's a timeline for Polisy ISY beta and prod? If not I'll unplug it and put it back into storage. Thanks.
  22. My experience with the hub in the starter kit is it burns out as frequently as the PLM. (no PLM required) SH did replace one at my vacation condo for free thankfully. The hub is pretty basic but good enough to keep you going.
  23. I got that error after the update. It went away after a full upgrade, update and a reboot. However, I continue to get an smtp error message even though my test messages are sending properly. Update I continue to get the UXT error after a reboot but it goes away until the next reboot. I also continue to get an SMTP error despite the email being sent properly.
  24. Hi all, I'm trying to setup smtp on my Polisy and when I click Recipients i get an error per attached. I did clear my java cache but it didn't help. I seem to remember I had the same problem on my prod ISY but I'm not sure what I did to get it to work. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Thanks in advance! mike Update fixed. Used this workaround which I used on the ISY. 1. Click on "Recipients" bar 2. Dismiss "Invalid Email Address" error 3. Delete button at bottom is now active; press this. 4. Add button is now active.
  25. Where did you find a PLM? Or did you have one already? I'd like to buy an ISY for our vacation condo but no PLMs so in a holding pattern.
