  1. It could be that too. You also have twice as many zwave devices as I do so more opportunities. Have you tried using the dashboard instead of AC to see if that cuts down?
  2. I haven't had that issue. I do the same when I initially set up devices but then choose freeze once done. So far I haven't seen any new nodes but time will tell. I also dont look at my device tree unless I need something specific so that may contribute to why I haven't noticed
  3. Probably not. Zwave creates new nodes sometimes. Just delete it. Then choose zwave>options>freeze nodes to prevent that from happening
  4. I prefer hue over lifx. I think their setup is more robust though lifx lights themselves are better
  5. You would need to use a nodeserver if you want things directly within the admin console. I prefer to set things in the app as its easier to see and manipulate, then add to the ISY.
  6. I'm opposite of larryllix in that I use scenes predominantly and use programs to add capability to them. I prefer scenes mainly due to the fact that I have manual control over my devices regardless of the isy. For me, it's paramount that my system works outside of the Isy. If the isy dies how do you operate things? Unless you have one laying around your system is down until you get a new one. At least by setting scenes, you can operate the pumps from home with a kpl as needed until then.

You started all this. I need to find some old threads and restart them so we can argue again
  8. lilyoyo1 replied to bdw72's topic in ISY994
True. But even then other devices would've done it (older devices)
  9. lilyoyo1 replied to bdw72's topic in ISY994
Everything would've turned on with the all on.

Delete it from the isy and factory reset it. Leave it alone for a day. If it doesn't turn on by itself then there is something else within your scenes or programs doing it

If it's for the genie or the dish, neither should be plugged into it. Try a lamp for testing. Does your lights turn on and off at specific moments such as 5pm every time
  12. If it was 1-12k the math is easy to do. But it's not. If a home is so small that having a smart panel and solar costs 12k are you really saving that much on an energy bill that may be 75-150 bucks max? That coupled with the fact that many people barely make it 5-10 years in the same home, they'll never get that money back. For large homes where you're looking at 30+. I remember someone came to the house trying to sell us solar. Long story short, after breaks it would've been around 45k. They talked about how much we would save (it was alot) etc. He went over their finance terms and our savings would've paid for the equipment. At the end of the day, we give up a cost that we can control for one (by using less energy) for a bill that will be there for a long time. I'm with you in that more should go into meeting the home itself energy efficient from the ground up. Outside of that I just can't see where its worth it.
  13. Energy savings isn't much of an issue for me. I know if I use something its costing me money. With what solar costs and these smart panels, I would probably save more in regards to utility bills but not nearly enough to make up for what both systems initially cost and too maintain
  14. No. There is no way to tell
  15. Udi has made a point of not giving dates and I highly doubt that will change now or ever.
  16. In general they are not needed in large installs of dual band devices. If it were my home, I would try to remove them from service as I hate looking at wall worts
  17. Old age is a PIA. Lol. Yeah, it's the replace function
  18. It shouldn't need to be removed just to write updates. Remote only needs to be in linking mode
  19. Here's a link to a write up I did about zwave with the Isy. Hopefully it'll help you with a variety of things
  20. Any hardwired zwave devices would work. I prefer using receptacles so that I don't have to worry about things getting unplugged or moved around (this can greatly affect your system). You can also use different plug in modules such as lamp modules or appliance modules. Aeotech has their 500 series range extender as well. The main thing is to make sure that whatever you buy is zwave plus
  21. I wish I could help you with that one. I haven't used them. I don't think it matters as long as it's magic home. The software should be the same. Any strip light can be used however. Just make sure they are rgbww. That way you have full color and white
  22. Any of them can be used with the magic home nodeserver. You'll just need the controller connected to your choice of led strip lights. There is also a hue and lifx nodeserver. For places I wanted color, I use hue
  23. I like having multiple approaches to control. We use ours for ambiance in the evening with a basic timer, actual light when cooking via our cooking scene and motion control late at night should someone pass through. I use a diffuser as well. Besides the cleanup, it simply looks better and keeps you from seeing the LEDs reflection on the countertop
  24. 1) Having color isn't a bad thing. It allows you to "tune" the lights to your environment as well as better ambiance when things are dark. Setups such as the one larryllix linked to can also be cheaper and easier to install than your typical setups. 4) If your driver is wired directly to the load of a kpl it could work directly with your lights. Otherwise you will need your driver plugged into a dimmable insteon device such as a dimmable plug-in module or dimmable outlet. Most likely, you will not need the dimmable ballast. Just a dimmable plug-in module. However it comes down to what items you end up choosing. Back when I used to use magnitude, I never once needed the dimmable ballast. It was always plugged into a dimmable outlet since the transformer itself required line voltage. 5) it does not change my equation. LEDs are not 1 size fits all. Just because 1 brand works does not mean anything will work.... especially when you talk about transformers. In addition to how well they dim, you can run into noise issues, as well as a high pitched whine.
