  1. That's just it. The isy was made to control devices not all that extra stuff. There are systems that will accomplish what you want but comes with the associated costs with them. Using fibaro for example, their high end controller has all of that but will cost you close to 900 bucks. For stuff that I do want to know the status of, I have my keypads. While I can lock the doors manually, voice, or via kpl, the system will automatically lock them too. If something goes wrong, I get a notification. No need for a panel or dashboard to long into. My doorbell rings, my TV will automatically switch inputs or I can look at my phone and view the app. I don't need extra stuff to accomplish that. If you have a ring you can do the same with a firestick or firetv. I'm not saying an interface can't be used or wouldn't be nice. Just that there are much better ways at seamlessly integrating all that people use instead of something that may not appeal to most users. At the end of the day, regardless of what UDI does, many still won't like it.
  2. I've never understood the need for an interface. If things are programmed properly the system runs itself. Why spend all this time and money only to sit there and manage stuff more than I would if it weren't automated. I get it if a person is out travelling. However even then I don't want to be checking an app. Let me know something is up vs me having to log into something to find out. To each their own I think that's partly UDI's feeling on the matter. They've created a controller that doesn't need to be managed so why build an interface for monitoring. They understand there are people (for various reasons) that want to manage stuff so they do have ways of doing it. They just aren't willing to put the time and effort into making it happen.
  3. Are the devices that should trigger the notifications updating in the isy?
  4. Upgrading the zwave board yes but there haven't been I've of those in years. Zwave during the firmware upgrade no
  5. No one has information on release dates. We'll all know once they release it when UDI feels it's ready. Secondary device for what use?
  6. Yes, it takes the place of your hub. There is information (ISY wiki and ISY cookbook) to get you started but for the most part i've found its mostly self taught. With every home and individual being different no manual can teach how to do everything....even most things. Only through trial and error do you really learn the system. The ISY can do so much trying to read and learn makes things seem worse than they are is there is so much information to take in. There is the ISY cookbook with has lots of detailed information on howto do things and how stuff work. IMO, while highly infomative, it contains so much information that its information overload for a newbie. https://www.universal-devices.com/docs/production/The+ISY994+Home+Automation+Cookbook.pdf
  7. It does. Unfortunately you can't do what you are trying to do with the hub. The isy is a more advanced controller than what your hub is. While it is worth buying, there is a learning curve with it.
  8. If you're asking what an ISY is then you are missing the necessary equipment and infrastructure for someone to detail what you need to do. If you can detail what you do have currently we may be able to point you in the right direction to accomplish what you're trying to do
  9. If the isy is not aware of what you've done then you'll have problems long term. If you feel better linking outside of the isy you can. Just know anything you do won't be captured by the isy properly. For some things this wouldn't matter but should you expand your system it may and that headache alone would make you wish you had followed the advice of others
  10. An app like mobilinc would do that for you. While it may seem like Overkill, is it really when it accomplishes what you want when you want without a headache. The fact that those apps are supported means it always work out you can get help for it. Sure you can use the favor but if it's not being supported what good does it do you when it may not work when you need it to. You're paying for convenience. One other thing you can look at since you have the portal is adding your devices to Alexa or Google home. You can control them through those as well. I don't trust those as much as I would something that's polling my Sistem though for use when I'm not around
  11. How long does the compressor run for when it kicks on? While what you have should work, I'm wondering if the off program is technically running already prior to the compressor turning off so the wait is already running while on. Since you're using x10 I don't believe there is status like you would have if you used insteon or zwave. My next guess would be with using x10. The off cmamd is simply sent from the main unit when it powers down. You can test for this by disabling your off program to see what happens.
  12. This wouldn't work anyway as he wants the fans to stay on after the compressor turns off
  13. I wouldn't call that hacking the fridge since nothing was done directly to the fridge. The fan was added externally to how sir from the enclosure not built into the fridge. Nothing he has done can be seen by the manufacturer nor can it be used to deny a warranty claim
  14. I agree with both Simplextech and MWester. I don't see why all these people think UDI needs an app to "sell more product". The truth is, those focusing on an app aren't interested in taking the time needed to setup and program an ISY. They want ease of use and a pretty interface. There are 2 sides to this argument. Those who want automation and work to achieve that goal and those who want control. I see why the control people clamor for an app. They don't want to invest the time needed to achieve automation (some may just want a pretty interface to show off). What they don't understand is what the isy was designed for in the first place which is why UDI never bothered to create an app For UDI to take the time to build an app it needs to be done where is much better than what mobilinc or anyone else can provide otherwise it's a waste of time/resources and a blow to their reputation. As Simplextech pointed out, a move like that could hurt them with their most ardent supporters as something will have to give. Those looking for form over function are fickle. They're the ones most likely to complain even more since it's still not what they want. Then abandon ship to the "next best thing". Anything short of a control4/savant type look will be a disappointment. Agave and Mobilinc are being developed. Those complaining about the time don't realize the work needed to design and develop one. (Command fusion will give you a taste). From what I see, the Agave developer does need to do more (since he is charging a large amount), but he is still working at improving things. I hope UDI doesn't go down the app road but time will tell.
  15. The mobile app idea is beating a dead horse. That's far from being on UDIs roadmap. Though not supported by other apps, most likely as nodeservers grow, app makers will include them. Wes has stated he is looking into supporting nodeservers directly. While no timeline is given, it would happen much faster through him than UDI as they would need to build from scratch. Wes did state if nodes are read as regular devices then they should work within the current mobilinc X app though it hasn't been tested
  16. UPnP has never been enabled on my Ubiquity network nor any router I've ever owned without any issue. As long as devices are on my same network I've never had a single instance with any hardware giving me a hard time.
  17. Yes. its that way by default. Most routers have UPnP turned off.
  18. Yes it's expected. The isy unzips the file to read. Your computer can't do it
  19. What are you trying to accomplish? If the isy won't see your sensor then it can't work with scenes
  20. Uffys way is a better way as you would need to leave the house to notice the lights are on. Personally, I would invest in sensors that would turn off the lights automatically if no one is in the closets.
  21. You'll still have to do the same things with the official version so you might as well get it out of the way
  22. See Michel's post from above
  23. While this doesn't mean everyone's Polisy will be shipping right now, I've received my notification this morning stating that it was available now.
  24. That sounds like more work and a recipe for disaster. There is a greater chance of introducing more problems over 1 device than fixing what you have now. Besides ZX there's no guarantee that would even if nothing else happens Create a folder and put the programs in that which include the lock. You can also take a picture of the programs instead to know what what you need to fix.
