I wasnt saying it works for me. I was referring to having a problem with finding needing info on udi's website. I shouldve been clearer. I stopped using google for new stuff. Amazons implementation is much better. Plus I dont like how google is closing off their ecosystem so im moving away from them. I dont think they update their info since these voice assistants change quite often. Its hard to keep up even when you do it constantly. Overall though, the process is still the same portal side. You do need to move the information to the individual rooms in google though as already mentioned.

I've personally never had a problem with it but I think stuff like that is individually based. What shows up in your Google home with your devices? I'm assuming you're assigning your room in the portal when adding the device. Is that correct?
-
You'll only see a benefit if all devices are 500 series. If any are of a lesser series you won't notice a difference at all. Regardless of finances, unless I was planning on swapping out all older devices, I don't see any reason for upgrading. Unless you're buying a used system, all currently shipping ISYzw ship with the latest chipset.

Luckily not with mine. She doesn't understand it but she enjoys it
-
She does the same so I'm good. As long as it's something she can technically use she doesn't complain

Do what I do....with Christmas coming up, some of the wife's presents are really my presents. Lol

I'm talking about general use not situations where it's almost required. When coupled with the Isy, the additional bridge doesn't bother me. If a person is using that many bulbs, the cheapest way to go about it is to get a kit so most likely one would have an extra bridge anyway

Home automation is a business for me not a hobby. Too much makes things tacky. Done right is much more tasteful. I do agree with you on the multiple bulb approach which is why I generally do it with at least 2 lights minimum. At the end of the day, it really comes down to user taste.
-
I'm sure it's cool when a person first gets it. After a while when it loses its WOW effect it's just a bulb. Even still, a great thing is 1 place. Having it all over lessens the appeal. To each their own. I just don't get it

I don't mind them for lamps. They work great for that. It's the fixtures such as chandeliers or can lights that I don't get.
-
That's where I use mine. Extends the signal throughout the house along with the extra capabilities of tuning the light along with colors.
-
I've never understood the desire to replace whole (large) fixtures with smartbulbs when it's cheaper/easier to simply replace a switch

Have you tried contacting Ademco?
-
I can understand that. I wouldn't use them there either. They're great for the home though

Another reason I stick with hue....

Unless you're planning on using something that 5.0 offers then there is no point in upgrading. I generally don't upgrade unless I'm looking for new features or capabilities (which is often). However for the ISYs that I have in the field, they aren't touched unless it's needed. With that said, 5.0 is like a smartphone. You don't realize you need some of the features until you have the capability. Only then you wonder how you lived without it.

There's so much difference between the 2 there will probably be some changes you'll have to manually do
-
One could also argue against being out on a ladder when it's wet in general. In the end, it comes down to comfort and convenience. I'd prefer mine to have constant power so that I am able to have more options

After the changes Google made to Nest, good luck with getting anyone to integrate with them
-
Not necessarily. The more harm than good is having to remember to turn switches on/off, varying schedules, accidental presses all make for a suboptimal installation. Sure you can program for some of this but what happens if your schedule changes? Automation should be seen not heard (so to speak). The more you have to go out of your way the less thrilling the experience If our events are that big of a concern, I would recommend using a whole house surge protector. Solving the problem will go further than a band side solution.
-
That won't stop anything from happening. If anything, it'll cause more harm than good

You don't have to swap out the dimmer. Just connect the load wire to the line and cap off the red wire.
-
If you are on 5.0.16 you can use the lifx nodeserver in order to bring insteon and lifx together. You would need to run constant got to the bulb and then program like normal

Have to create a scene and add the button to the scene
