While this doesn't mean everyone's Polisy will be shipping right now, I've received my notification this morning stating that it was available now.

That sounds like more work and a recipe for disaster. There is a greater chance of introducing more problems over 1 device than fixing what you have now. Besides ZX there's no guarantee that would even if nothing else happens Create a folder and put the programs in that which include the lock. You can also take a picture of the programs instead to know what what you need to fix.
-
If you're needing multiple programs to ensure things are off, I would look at your communication and work towards fixing the issue. While that can work (and an easier fix) you could be creating a bigger headache since any communication that is happening will prevent other communication from happening at that moment.

Most zwave devices need to tap to put them into the mode needed to update them. I don't use monoprice So I can't speak for them. However with my fibaro and Dome sensors I have to tap the B button on them for them to accept changes
-
If you have a zwave network it's the way I would go. If not be aware you will need to build out your zwave network to get things to work properly
-
I like the old way as well. However, with being able to combine different types of devices (that require different settings), this was the best way
-
They'll be separate devices and wouldn't interfere with each other. Insteon devices could potentially have interference if snow to communicate with each other. This would only be a problem if both setups issue commands at the same time

Alexa routine can now turn on Guard (spoiler, can't turn it off)
lilyoyo1 replied to TexMike's topic in Amazon Echo
You have to remember that these setups like Alexa, Google, ring, etc. are there for the non savvy homeowners, renters, etc. For the most part, people who really don't understand the full consequences of what they desire to do. Due to their consumer base, Amazon (and other in similar situations) will err on the side of caution when it comes to security regardless of whether their concerns are real or perceived. Unlike the homeowner, they have to deal with stuff we don't such as the gotcha media, lawsuits, etc. Even for me, there are things that I won't do for clients that I do in my own home. It's not worth the risk. -
It'll see the light of day. Personally, I think insteon should focus on hardware. Sure, have the hub for those who seek ease of use or small projects but leave the heavy lifting to companies who specializes in that such as UDI. That way they can focus on what they know most without spreading themselves so thin that everything suffers. Listening to Steve Lee's comments and this new Plm, I suspect they are going to start focusing on the professional installer. While consumers will always have a place, they are finicky. Ready to jump at a moment's notice. However, if they can get builders, developers, and installers buying their wares, their business will grow exponentially more.

We're not talking about zwave. ?

I guess if it's said often enough eventually someone will be able to say I told you so. Having sales isn't indicative of going out of business. It's a way of composing with low cost competitors without diluting their brand as well as a quick cash grab. I'm regards to engineering not responding- what engineering department from any company responds? UDI is the most accessible company I've seen but outside of troubleshooting, you don't hear a ton of other stuff. If engineers took fine to respond to customers they wouldn't have time to do their job. That's why there's tech support and customer service. Welcome to the good ole USA. The land where customer support is outsourced to other countries and/or replaced by software that forces you to repeatt yourself 20x when saying option 2. That's not going out of business, unfortunately it's the American way. If that was how we judged if a business wouldn't be around, the whole country would shut down

Newbie.. How to control my foscam(s) in ISY
lilyoyo1 replied to Kemo's topic in New user? Having trouble? Start here
I do both. While I always plan on using the portal, should something happen or change, I'll still have the network module available -
Using a devices power draw to trigger another device
lilyoyo1 replied to glacier991's topic in ISY994
Any zwave device that has energy monitoring will do that such as the aeotec smart switch 6. As long as the fan is controlled by a device connected to the isy it would work. One thing to keep in mind is you may need additional devices nearby depending on your zwave network -
Best practices for naming lights and switches with Alexa?
lilyoyo1 replied to sfhutchi's topic in Amazon Echo
I don't try and control everything in my house. I control what we use most of the time. For example, in our bedroom we have a fan, fan light, can lights, scones, and lamps. We only control the can lights, lamps and fan in regards to turning on. Telling Alexa (used to be Google home) to turn on the lights will turn on the can lights. Telling Alexa to turn on the fan will turn on the fan. Ditto for the lamps. Telling Alexa to turn off the lights results in any light being on to turn off. They are simply labeled fan, lights, and lamps and placed in the room. Nothing fancy or difficult to remember. For your setup I would control the light and fan. For the bath, I would create a scene to turn the lights and fan off. I don't see the point in turning on either one via voice but to each their own I use sensors to turn on/off), I could see telling Alexa to turn a light/fan off should they be left on. -
The good thing about automation is not needing a phone or other peripheral devices if done properly and thought out fully; even with ever changing schedules, there is still routine built in (I have this conversation weekly). You'd be surprised how routine your non-routine is. I know my customers are once they start tracking things so I can automate tasks for them. Let us know how it goes
-
Brilliant is not compatible with the ISY nor Insteon so you would not be able to integrate them together. I dont own one but do have touchscreens mounted that I never use. I think its a great idea for those who want a fancy remote but overall falls short from an automation standpoint. If I wanted home control- I would actually go for that device as it appears to be a very capable device. However I want automation. For what this stuff costs, I want the best bang for my buck. I want to limit my interactions and let the system do most of the work for me. One thing Ive learned is to keep it simple. Trying to automate every detail will drive you crazy. I stick with an 80/20 rule. Automate 80% and the rest I do manually somehow via my keypads. Pretty much everything is preset in my home. I dont want to stand next to a switch to simply dim a light, play music, set volume, etc. Walk in, hit a button and it does it all for me. Depending on area, day, and time, I dont even have to touch anything. This isnt something you want to learn in a few weeks. Take a few weeks to figure out what kind of home you want, lifestyle, etc. Those answers will tell you what system will work best for you. Sometimes its the eye candy that is the best fit. Others its the old, boring, trusty piece that overcomes all.
-
It calls for magnetic or electronic dimmers so the insteon dimmer wouldn't work for you since it uses a triac.
-
I'd include @Michel KohanimKohanim on this as the adjust scene should work. It may be dependant on the firmware of your devices
-
What repeating devices are you using, how many, and location in relation to your sensors? Generally getting a lot of the errors you are receiving happens with a weak zwave network. I'm using the latest firmware with aeotec, fibaro, some, and Yale devices without issues so on the surface, the isy does work without issue with zwave products.
-
Did you reinstall your firmware when you flashed the new card
-
How Paulbates described is what I do. Each room has a scene where every device is setup as a responder. I have about 5 different programs that control those scenes.
-
Zwave definitely wouldn't reach the second building. The insteon Powerline signal can travel to to a mile uninterrupted so it's possible for it to be done with insteon. Personally, I'd just use a second isy and call it a day. That way, problems in 1 location doesn't affect the other

Best practices for naming lights and switches with Alexa?
lilyoyo1 replied to sfhutchi's topic in Amazon Echo
Yes that's normal as voice assistants don't know like sounding names. If you want separate control don't add the word lights to the end or the room name. Just say fan, lamp, etc I don't try to control everything. I've found doing so makes things harder as you have to come up with specific words that do not match something else. Whatever light is used most often, that is the one I control for that room. My off will turn off the whole room. -
Diagnosis and Query Okay, but Some Lighting Doesn't Come On
lilyoyo1 replied to franzmetcalf's topic in ISY994
It sounds like everything is communicating properly so I would take a look to see if you configured your scene itself and not just the controller -
I can see that having problems though I never had any when I used them. It's an older design whose technology and components predate LED bulbs. The 2663 works exceptionally well
