Alexa can do those things but the Isy takes it to another level by allowing you to integrate things using natural habits or automatically to run your devices. Voice can be included as well but it's not necessary. Like i said, it comes down to your imagination.

None of the node servers are "needed" per-se. They're needed if you want to be able to control those devices with your Isy. What can be done and how useful they are depends on your imagination. While harmony no longer make remotes, that doesn't diminish what can be done with them. For example, My are part of my goodnight and away programs. I hit away, the TV's will shut down along with everything else connected to the button. With my goodnight button, depending on room, TV's will shut off while others will turn on. The simple act of me turning off the TV with the remote will also trigger my goodnight scene depending on room and time. Depending on whose code is used coming home determines what turns on (if the tv is off). While things may be app based (if that's how you watch tv), this can allow the tv and remote to be ready when you sit down to watch it vs manually turning it on and having to wait for the remote to go through it's steps. There's a lot more that I do. Those are just a couple of quick examples to show what can be done if you take the time to think things through an doubt into motion.

I was just messing around. You said it much more eloquently than i would've. I didn't see anything wrong with it

Failing to add ZWave device: Zooz 4-in-1 Sensor ZSE40 700

That's strange. I recently purchased one to replace the last of my insteon motion sensors and it added to both my polisy and isy. -
Program help needed and switches not working
lilyoyo1 replied to LMcGrath's topic in New user? Having trouble? Start here
This is where providing ALL of the information about your situation helps. This is a 3way setup which is why 1 switch works and the other one doesnt. Once you factory reset the device, the links were erased. You just need to relink it to the main switch. -

Your programs look nothing like what someone else posted earlier that you said you copied. The only thing your family room program accomplishes is turning on the corner light. Nothing else would happen. Ditto for the garage. The only thing that would happen is it will turn off at 10pm. If the switch actually turns on properly (ramps up), then either the switch is bad or the bulb is bulb. Id try a different bulb -

Try a factory reset again to ensure it was done right. Nothing with either system should prevent them from working when manually controlled and connected directly to a light. If that doesn't work, then the switches are bad -
You can't do that is what I mean unless you're ok with the main light turning on as well
-
in due time. Its on the roadmap.

I'm not sure that would work since the main light will turn on with the backlight (unless he's ok with that

Welcome to the rabbit hole. Down we go! ?

Must not have looked too hard. Scroll down on the main forum page and you'll see a subforum titled SOFTWARE RELEASES AND UPDATES. Within that are 2 more- Current releases and announcements as well as Previous releases Since you asked for firmwares for the latest solutions, you'd find them under Current releases and announcements.

Z-wave battery remote switch in insteon scene
lilyoyo1 replied to jkraus's topic in Z-Wave - Series 700
There's nothing like Insteon remotes. However, if you google zwave wireless remote, you'll be able to see what zwave offers. One may work for you. -
Post your test program and if part of a scene post that as well. There is zero reason why a light needs to be switched on for it to turn off.
-
I'm with OberKc on this. The off command is always sent when hitting off so the status of your lights should not matter.
-
Contract your device mfg since updating isn't universal. They'll be able to send you the update file (if one is available) along with instructions. You may also find that information on their website
-
Even if you could see your network map, it would change as you removed devices. I'd start with insteon first if that's your smallest setup. Then go with zwave from closest to farthest devices with a focus on least used devices. If you have a dense network, you probably won't impact things as much as you think as long as you leave enough devices within range of your controllers for both systems
-
Yes, this is possible.
-
Most cheap zwave devices are made by the same people who in turn stamps whatever company that's trying to sell it name on the product.

The one thing about this forum is that people are willing to help you learn but you have to also show that you are willing to help yourself. People keep linking the same links to you for you to look at them. They provide the information you're asking about for every zwave device out there. You just have to take the time to read them and help educate yourself as well.
