Sonos Volume Adjustment/Favorites - Insteon Keypad Linc
You're welcome. I rarely change the volume myself which is why I use presets. When I studied my habits I realized preset volume adjustments made more sense. The only time I adjusted things where early morning, afternoon/evening, and night as it became late. I took note of where my wife and I would set the volume at different times and set it accordingly. The presents even allows us to turn up the volume for a song and will set it back to where it was after.

Sonos Soundbars
@simplextech I was just wondering if the Sonos API shows whether the beam or arc was connected to tv for sound or just playing. I know the app will show if it's on tv but the API may not expose it. If it is exposed in the api, is it possible to add that capability

Sonos Volume Adjustment/Favorites - Insteon Keypad Linc
I use programs for my favorites. I use preset volume that auto adjusts depending on room and time vs tying up keypads to turn it up and down. It's easier for me to adjust that from the app the few times I change the volume vs get up and go to the wall for adjustments. However, I don't see why you couldn't achieve what you want via programs and variables

3G/4G and Bluetooth Use Cases
In general I don't see a use case for the modems except for those with specific use cases such as out in the wilderness with no internet connection. BT may be welcome for those who use BT capable devices (such as tags) that are within range but that would be of limited use. At this time BT is not enabled (I may be wrong) nor have anyone developed anything to use with it. I haven't thought much beyond that as none of those apply to anything i can see myself using

Insteon acquired and servers coming back up
I've been testing the zooz door sensor which is even smaller than the aeotec. I wasn't impressed with the battery life on my aeotecs (still lasts longer than insteon) though it performs really well. Haven't had zooz long enough to say anything about it's battery life.

ON/OFF Insteon Light switch weird issues
Techman left the instructions for that particular device but that applies to all recent (last few years) insteon switches. If you type the insteon part number and out instruction manual after it, it'll pull the manual up for those specific devices as well

ON/OFF Insteon Light switch weird issues
Have you tried to factory reset the switch? Since the problem is local, you could try to take the paddle off and clean the contacts

Insteon acquired and servers coming back up
That's for you to decide. If you're planning on automating immediately, then you've answered your own question. The group that purchased insteon didn't buy it only to sell a subscription to a few leftover hub users so devices will be coming back out. It's just a matter of when. If you can wait, then you can decide once they're up and running what the best path forward is for you. You can even run a hybrid system. Such as the kpl and plug in modules along with whatever technology you choose.

Product comparisons Polisy vs. ISY
Polisy and the isy994 are one in the same in regards to being computers/hardware running the isy software. While there are still bugs being worked out with Polisy running the isy software, it is pretty solid where i have no problems running my home with it. If you read on the polisy sub-forum, you'll see everything that people are dealing with and doing with polisy. Polyglot cloud is no long active and there is no timetable for when it will return. If you scroll down the forum main page, you'll see a subforum for all the node servers that PG3 supports. In time, that list will grow even more. Going by your house list, you have a better chance at succeeding with polisy than you do with the 994. If the 994 supports something then so does Polisy. Long term, Polisy will support things the 994 does not and probably never support. The main benefit of polisy over the 994 is that most development/new features is going to Polisy while the 994 will get maintenance updates but will be limited in new features. You can stick with the 994 (if buying a new one) but will be buying something with a limited future. Polisy can currently use both Node server stores while the 994 is limited to the V2 store...at least until it's shutdown

Not the best reception for front door lock, zwave questions
You dont say what your locks are nor what your firmware and UI is so there is limited support we can give you. See Zwave tips and tricks (very first post on this sub-forum) as that could provide you information that could help you with your issues. Just because you have devices 5' from your lock does not mean they are routing your messages to your locks. You can check to see what the neighbors are by right-clicking on the device, then Z-Wave> Show Information In the Event Viewer, then watch to see the nearest neighbor. There is no way to just see zwave devices (especially if you renamed them completely). Generally, they start with ZW (and their number). It is not possible to view what the codes are. There is a notes section that you can put your codes in if you right click on the device.

Insteon acquired and servers coming back up
Past tense or potential option? Was it part of the insteon sale?
-
Insteon acquired and servers coming back up
It wasn't half baked. The product works really well with it's hub/app (until servers went down) and still continue to do so locally. Much better from a quality and functional standpoint from the insteon line

Insteon acquired and servers coming back up
Not really. The nokia line was ready for release

Insteon acquired and servers coming back up
That's built into ZigBee. Hue bulbs do the same by assigning a separate address for groups/scenes

Insteon acquired and servers coming back up
Direct association is direct communication between linked devices. There are no hops or communication over the network except for status being sent to the controller. You're referring to assigned association which is different
-
Insteon acquired and servers coming back up
Homeseer allows you to set direct association between compatible devices which does away with the popcorn effect. However that's extremely limited compared to insteon in multiple ways. You're right about the big names failing. Most of what they release fails. We just remember the success stories because of their impact.

Help with Z Wave details for Polisy
It's all exactly the same except for the difference in capabilities with the protocols.

Help with Z Wave details for Polisy
There's no difference. The same information applies. There isn't a device specific place to turn to as the same device can be different based on your Isy firmware along with device specific firmware. Generally, if you want to know what node does what, you'll need to play around with it to see how each responds. Some may require parameters to be set in order to work. The full online manual for your specific device would be able to provide that information.

Insteon acquired and servers coming back up
Unfortunately they've never made clear the stuff you've asked (as far as I've seen). I'm sure there will be some command specific things for consistency sake (such as on/off/dim/brighten). My guess, it'll be similar to what we have now in regards to using voice assistants to control devices.

Insteon acquired and servers coming back up
When it comes to current diy "protocols", there's insteon (whenever they start releasing new devices), zwave, ZigBee, Lutron clear connect, wifi, and Bluetooth. All with their own pros and cons. What will exist in the future, we do not know. Only wifi does not require a physical bridge in order to work. (Technically insteon doesn't but you wouldn't have timers or remote operation). Instead, it requires an app on your phone to set up and configure. Each device/mfg. can still use their own chosen protocol (insteon, ZigBee, zwave, clear connect) since those with hubs will still be connected to your network as well. Wifi devices would still be connected independently to your wifi network as is now. However, if it's a Matter connected device, thread would be able to connect it and other devices on your network under a common language. I've linked an article that explains things better than I can. In short, wifi will be there and used. Thread is just an additional.layer tying things together

Insteon acquired and servers coming back up
You probably should put your beer down so you can come up with coherent sentences and/or remember what you typed a few hours ago. The first letter you type was I. Second line started with "my assumption" 3rd paragraph once again started with "I have never had" 4th paragraph- "I have never seen that"- though you did leave a slight opening for MDUs. Next to last paragraph- "and my favorite" Last paragraph- "I assume" So yes, with the amount of I's and me's being dropped in your explanation, please forgive me for thinking you were referring to your own bubble. I guess you only read my post just to argue back which is fine. Maybe you should learn to read for comprehension. Had you done so, you would have seen that I wasn't disagreeing with you but instead pointing out that the problem with different wifi setups and tools is assuming most people have the knowledge about them in addition to the skill set to use them properly. Guess what- Most do not. What you prefer and another uses are 2 different things. A person with knowledge, desire, and skills can use anything that's available to accomplish any given task. Someone else will probably take a simpler approach whether it's a good solution or not. The world is full of the latter. Just because you've read something and only have dealt with it in your personal life does not make you an expert. I've been doing homes for years and still learn new stuff unlike you who think they know it all. Ive never had a use for tools to troubleshoot insteon. I took the time to learn how it works through actual use and not just in my home. I experimented in family and friends houses. Putting stuff in/out and using different combinations. Ditto with C4, zwave, and now Lutron. Up until i stopped installing it, I made sure i installed it in such a way to give me a positive outcome. I still do with other systems as well. I have no issue in having discussions about assumptions. However, I don't lose sight about what it in front of us now instead of believing some magical pipe dream of what i wish something could be. My home network is strong enough where i could run everything on wifi but i don't. Anything that can be hardwired is still hardwired. People not wanting to use a bunch of wifi devices in their home (or others) is their perogative. If you like wifi devices and have no issues so be it. Others may not want to take the time and expense of filling their home with them only to create new issues that they didn't have before with other stuff. At least with insteon, zwave, or any other mesh type system, issues with those do not affect anything else in the house that others may need (for the most part).
